I find the first OP more aptly fit the anime tbh, specially the first season. A few songs from the same album actually stayed as my most listened for quite some time, specially through my more emo years lol. It’s a very heavy anime, but left a big impression on me that for years I automatically went to Henrietta as a game character name when playing a female character s.

Finally some recognition for Gunslinger Girl. Compared to Monster, Gunslinger Girl is much much darker and definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s a fantastic psychological anime that deals with heavily controversial topics regarding morality and justice that I believe only those who are open-minded can truly appreciate this series. This has to be one of the most underrated gems that you really should watch if you’re after a story more unique and more interesting that would give you plenty of food for thoughts after finishing it.

Is it time to start promoting: Rozen Maiden, Madlax, Noir, Canaan openings, and Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom openings and endings? 😉 As for Gunslinger Girl itself, there is a video on YT with a rather telling title: When the Manga Author Ruins the Anime....Despite that, it's a pretty good dark series. I also remind you to leave likes under the Detective Conan part 2 openings on the main channel, because we are not far from achieving our goal.

I would watch both anime reactions instead of 90% of the seasonal outputs. I would recommend to check out the OP from anime Gangsta. by STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION It's very stylish, and you can also explore the artists anisongs or other darker anime, like Blade of the Immortal, Basilisk...

The children where not given a choice Luke. They are disposable tools of war to fight insurgents. It's dark because one minute they are just ordinary little girls with normal little girl issues and then the next scene the are sent to kill a terror cell. The adults are simply handlers who are in charge of keeping little girl cyborg killing machines happy and willing to do the next job. Luke will cry if he watches Gunslinger Girl.

Gangsta is great. Wish they could have made the second season before the anime studio went bankrupt. The opening is vibrant and the song is catchy. So it will appeal to a broader audience.

Gunslinger Girl is a classic. Well worth watching - good action and character development, nifty European setting. A pretty dark, serious show with a strong emotional center. Basically a Luc Besson-style anime.

I know I would watch. Sub or dub. People just have to support it and vote for it. It's a really dark and cruel story. It can be a hard watch at times, but it's captivating. Like Made in Abyss in many ways. It's an old anime. So just depends on if we can get the votes we need. If we get a genre specific tournaments, we may not even get a chance. Luke decides the genre and he's already mentioned sports as one of three genre he will watch next. We just need to remember that Keijo!!!!!!!! is a sports anime. :) He's may pick dreadful genres, lol. But we shall see what we shall see when the time comes.

Someone else described Gun Slinger Girl as a Luc Besson anime and that is so accurate. The story is decent, but the premise is questionable at best. It's one of those groomer anime where an adult male is paired with a female child/teen for "reasons". There are plenty of those in anime.

I Own hard copies of it, Was one of the First anime I have on Disc. Was just curious because I think it would go over well but it is a very obscure anime.

If we were to be blessed with a slot for an older anime in this genre, Gunslinger Girl would not be my pick. I'd prefer Noir (personal bias, not because it's better necessarily), Black Lagoon, Jormungand or Phantom: Requiem. Maybe even Gungrave - I love that show, despite the fact that the best part of that show is the flashback arc.

Id be good with Jormungand too but Gunslinger girl is a much different vibe then most of those listed. Black Lagoon is fine too I guess but its not as serious. I don't think I have watched Noir. Gungrave I don't think aged as well. Phantom: requiem I know I have not watched so I cant comment. My original point stands though< I think Gunslinger Girl would elicit the most emotion though I could be wrong.
