Idk if chat told you or not but the stars system for food places is basically 1/5 stars from normal people & lower end critics but once it reaches 5 stars it becomes eligible for Michelin(think thats the correct spelling) stars I don’t know the max amount but it’s a big deal having them. Like huge for a restaurant. Shinos going for Michelin stars not normal stars

No I feel its pretty normal I know some basic things about my parents past where they lived went to school but not alot really he knows his dad in the present just not much of his history its also partly on Soma he strikes me as the type not to pry and let people have their secrets also only caught a bit of the live stream I was dying yesterday in 100° heat helping trim some palm trees mainly disposal those things are sharp gloves were nice but my forearms and the rest of me was pretty exposed

while its not necessarily normal for a kid to know so little about their parents, there's a very good reason why Joichiro has never spoken about his time at the academy, or much of his past at all, to Soma. All will be explained later on but there's a lot of painful memories he definitely doesn't want to revisit. He'd rather focus on the now and his life as a family man and diner chef

Egypt isn't technically part of "Arabia" (the arabian peninsula), but the population is arab now so I guess it works ? The middle-east and north africa were colonized by arabs the early middle ages, and even if the population didn't change that much ethnically, they gradually assimilated culturally and started speaking arabic (each their own version). Now they consider themselves "arabs". Some kept their identity more strongly despite the conquest though, like the Persians (Iran).

The rule for pilot nicknames (in military airforces) is always that you never choose it, it's chosen for you, and it's usually based on either a screwup, physical appearance, or other character trait -- it's almost never a "cool name" like Iceman or Maverick unless t hat's ironic (e.g., iceman if you slipped on a patch of ice while getting into your plane, not iceman because you're such a cool dude).

I mean in terms of not really knowing his dad, that's a bit of a stretch. That's 20+ years of memories, all of which helped shape his dad into who he is. It could be that he did tell him about the past, but like some of your anime reactions, if there is no context, Soma wouldn't be able to pick up the small details that his dad would hide. For all he knows, his dad went to high school in Japan, opened a restaurant with his mom after settling down, and they've worked tirelessly to build a future together and name for said restaurant. His dad probably picked and chose which stories to tell him about the past and his mother as he was growing up, giving no indication that there was more to the story. A child will always trust their parents, especially when their world only consists of said parents and the home. Soma's dad probably thought now would be a good time to tell Soma about his past because Soma is at the age to finally understand what all the details he left out mean. But, considering how nonchalant his dad is... Well, he definitely could have planned it out better. Also, remember, often times when things aren't good in the world or the family, children will be the last ones to know often. They may pick up that something isn't right, but they won't actually KNOW what it is that's wrong. Like expecting a child/ student to ask for help when they don't even know they're supposed to ask for something to begin with. There's a step missing, but only those 'in the know' understand what that step is. You're right in that Soma's dad is in the wrong, but it's not Soma's fault for realizing he never noticed there was something more to the stories his dad told him. That's why the shock hit him as hard as it did. Boy just realized his life, to an extent, is a lie, or at least that the relationship with his father (the only meaningful relationship in his life currently) is a lie.
