Yes, the original Lucifer is one of the Four Devil Kings who died in the Great War. He was replaced by Sirzechs. And there is a reason why God died that is revealed much further in to the Light Novels.

Luke, in the previous war, the fallen angels, devils, and angels fought. The FOUR great devils died along with God. The four devils had titles (Lucifer being one of them). Sir Zechs (Rias’s brother) took up the mantle of one of those four devils and was given the title of Lucifer. So he is Sir Zechs Gremory Lucifer I think. There’s three others. This will be explored in future seasons. Just know that original bloodlines matter.

It didn't come across very well in the anime, but xenovia's situation was a bit more complicated. After learning that God had died, she immediately went back to the Vatican to report the news. However, before she even left Vatican City, she was branded a heretic and excommunicated from the church without any explanation. She then took refuge with Rias and became a devil. Nevertheless, even in the book she admits that it was a hasty action. Yeah it is interesting that only the girls get their clothes blown off when fighting. However, if you notice, it's only the guys that ever get bruised and bleed. The girls will be on death's door and look fine... just with ripped clothes. The guys stay clothed, but they are the only ones coughing up blood or being cut from stem to stern. It's just what the audience wants. Most people don't want to see naked guys and most people don't want to see beaten and bloody women.

being the 'harem king' is such a strange goal because in anime it's a rule that if you have a harem you can't actually ever do anything with any of them to avoid throwing off the careful balance. Wouldn't he want to be like... the gangb- you know, I think Harem king is a fine title, actually.

Ok. Something you should know Luke. The creators did not completely draw their initial inspiration from the bible. They drew it from 2 other books. The Key of Solomon, also called Ars Goetia, and the Jewish Book of Enoch. That's also where they got the Demon and Angel names from. That explains the massive differences and convoluted lore. Also. Lucifer =/= Satan. That's a long standing mistranslation from Hebrew texts, people still believe. Those two are different demons. To keep it simple. One stands for wrath, while the other stands for pride. Satan is an opposing force to god and was never an angel. While Lucifer is a fallen angel and former champion of god.

Don't worry Luke, we got you. And well done noticing btw. Azazel's voice actor is Koyama Rikya. He voiced Yamato in Naruto Shippuden. But he also voiced Rengoku's father in Demon Slayer, Soma's father in Food Wars, and Gon's father in Hunter X Hunter. Plus Kiritsugu Emiya in Fate/Zero. So i am not surprised that you recognized his voice, since you saw all of these.
