The thing about Japanese is that you can write certain words in different ways. Two people can have the same name phonetically, but it's written with different syllables/kanji. To an English speaker, it can be overwhelming, but apparently once you've got a grasp on the language, context can help cut down on the confusion.

To add to this, because kanji can be confusing, writers will often add "furigana" which are the small characters written above the kanji which show how the kanji are supposed to be pronounced. In this case, what the subtitles were translating was the furigana instead of the kanji, which is why all three were the exact same/spelled the same since they share a pronunciation.
