bro I've been waiting for this since you uploaded it on yt but now my shift started 😭

Emz

The whiplash halfway through when it goes from the saddest 30 minutes of my life to incest

виина

Luke how could you not watch the ending after this episode 💔 the past life reveal spoiler was in there

Petey Bickmore

Nah this ain't the big bad ending people talk about. The incest twist was certainly divisive but personally it's understandable as Ruby and Aqua are still Sensei and Sarina. Sarina is obsessed with Sensei because he was the one who truly cared about her when everyone else abandoned her. They have left little bits out as well for the start of next season too. I think the emotional whiplash is more funny than anything. People definitely really liked the manga at this point and was probably at it's peak.

Thiago Serra

Most people thought it would end with "Sensei, I'm 16 now", I guess lol. Since the episode was longer, it wasn't a problem

Kobury

It's not the big bad ending :D

Sébastien Montibert

I love Miyako, for her development, for her careness, for her strength. She's done the best she could since Ai disappearance both as a mother and a director.

Oh my, oh my. As soon as I finished watching this episode on my own, I knew Luke would be crying A LOT during the first part of the episode. I mean there is no way someone wouldn’t… Additionally, I like the fact that how Ruby called her first mom (bitch) “Okasa” and Ai “Mom”. For me it shows that all this time she still considered the first one her real mother and even though Ai gave her everything first mom didn’t, Ruby still considers her someone else. And let’s still not forget that there is best mom Miyako in this equation lol Finally, regarding everyone going crazy about incest stuff: Yes, I agree that this looks weird, but this is something that Ruby was telling us the whole anime. If we take a deeper look at it, it should be obvious that Sensei for her is like a parental figure, like father and there is no wonder that she as a kid/teenager misinterpreted her feelings towards sensei (doctor). Also take into the account that she spent most of her life in hospital without parents and any social development. It is only natural that she doesn’t understand, how she is truly feeling (and no one could’ve told her that). And on top of that she is just an extremely traumatized kid (in both lives) and she carried this idea of “loving sensei” for 16 years in Ruby’s body, so there is no wonder that she is slightly “weird”. As for the Aqua in this situation, she only sees that ill, poor child in Ruby’s body, so there is no wonder that he is letting her do whatever she wants. And most importantly, Aqua multiple times said that he sees his plan as “one-way ticket” (even though we are not fully aware of the plan yet). If Aqua really thinks he would die, then he has even more reasons to make Sarina as happy as possible in this timespan that he has left.

I feel like the ending of the after credit scene is heavily implied to be Ai saying "I love you" to Ruby, since that's the overall theme of Ruby's original mother's lie and Ai's inability to say to her children that she loves them (because she feared she might say it in a lying type of way).

patros36

Yeah this part of the manga was great, the mother reveal and the Miyako scene were top notch and adapter greatly. Too bad this is where the manga went downhill.

Kenneth Hoerz

I think this is the best you have handled any of the endings in Oshi No Ko.

Hououin Kyouma

I think everyone was talking about Aqua and Ruby finding out their past and Ruby's behavior toward Aqua. When those manga chapters came out, a lot of people started to cancel the manga entirely and made so many speculations about Aqua and Ruby's relationship. Twitter and Reddit went crazy making Ruby and Aqua Onii-chan memes. I think the crazy ending everyone was talking about is the big reveal. Last week, I was also expecting that the episode would end when Aqua and Ruby discover their past selves. Next season will be about the movie they are making, and also the final season. The manga's ending is quite literally a 'bad ending.' What do I mean by that? Well, suppose you are playing a visual novel where the outcome is based on different decisions you make throughout the game. There are always 'good endings' and 'bad endings.' Oshi no Ko ending feels like somewhere along the story, Aqua just keeps making wrong decisions, which starts from the next arc, that lead to a 'bad ending,' and it doesn't feel like the correct ending. For manga readers, if you compare the beginning of the Oshi no Ko manga with the ending, you will notice that Aka Akasaka had a completely different plan about the ending when he started writing the manga, but for some reason, he changed it at the end.

Deiondre0

I remember when the Aqua/Ruby chapter dropped and the community was in absolute shambles over the “Sensei, Im sixteen now” part. Never thought I’d see Kana shippers and Akane shippers unite over anything, that is until the Ruby shippers took over the reddit 😅

John Stevenson

manga readers hate the ending of this series which is fine if they do but ill keep my opinions on hold until I see the ending next season and see if its that bad or not. but Season 1 to 3 has been great so Im just curious to see what actually happens in season 4 that everyone hated lol

Joshua Vaughn

Me too. I figured they would wait till the end of the episode and leave a cliffhanger of them finding out about each other.

Loaded usually means rich, (not sure if it is an American saying or not, it was strange you didn't know this :)

SQX Barto

Anime original ending can happen (not sure how rare it is)

Dj

Sarina's mother is the worst person while Miyako is truly the mvp in Ruby and Aqua's lives. I just wished Ruby and Aqua appreciated her more as a parental figure and not like an aunt

Rem is best waifu

How lucky Luke is not to have to be a fan of the manga when the Ruby x Aqua shipping started. I am sure it will start again for some anime only but it was ridiculous. This was a good episode though.

crazizzle85

To defend Ruby's feelings, she basically said in s2 she loved the Dr. Now, we know it's a childish crush. But she has never truly been able to process her feelings So, now the man she "loved" is alive and they don't even have the age gap she was worried about! She's just not really thinking things through, and being emotional in her response. It's actually quite realistic. I'm just glad to see other characters properly call it what it is, a coping mechanism.

As a manga fan, I want to explain why people were concerned. What you need to remember, is that anime and manga are different mediums. 1 anime episode is 20 minutes for you, but it covers 2-3 chapters of manga, and we get 1 chapter a week. So a 20 minute experience for you is three weeks for us. Aqua and Ruby learning who each other were, happened around the end of S1 of the anime. I don't remember if the chapter released the same week, or the week after, but it was very close together. I'd have to go back and look, but I think that chapter ended on the scene of Ruby saying she remembered Aqua's promise to marry her at 16 and how she's 16 now. We 100% got a chapter that ended on that scene, but it's been a while so I don't remember if it specifically ended there alongside the reveal. Regardless we had a week ending on these scene to wonder what what meant for the series, why Aka was even toying with incest in the series, and people just lost their minds. Since the anime had just ended, non-manga fans were also hearing bits and pieces about what was happening in the manga, since it was a hot topic so the news would spread further than it normally would. Then week by week, bit by bit, we get little scenes of Aqua and Ruby being super close, and the concerns and speculation that Ruby x Aqua was becoming a thing spread, until people outside the fandom assumed incest was part of Oshi No Ko. I won't say if those incest themes actually come to fruition, or if we were worried over nothing, but that was a major concern at this point in the series, and manga fans remember that chaos and we remember how some people dropped the show when they assumed it was going that way, and how casual outsiders started to make fun of you for liking Oshi No Ko because of the assumptions. So I think a lot of people remembered that time in the manga community, and assumed the anime community would get the same chaos. Though again, that chaos happened because things were stretched out and we had time to speculate and panic, while in an anime you get months of speculation skipped as all that content happens in like an hour for anime fans. It also doesn't help that non-manga fans have heard about the incest, haven't read the series, and so knowing that stuff was coming up, assumed the worst and were dooming over this ending. I personally wasn't concerned about this ending, but I can understand why people would be worried about it.

ElectricAnt

"worried over nothing" weird way to spell "get absolutely cucked"

Kyle Garrett

S4 should be the final season, and while I won't give any details about it here, I will say that two other things that happen in the manga damaged / upset the community, and they should both be in S4, assuming it is the final season. These things were disappointing and frustrating more than anything else, but I will say that after a few years distance from those events, I think as a manga community we overreacted and those events aren't as bad as we made them out to be. Again, that's because we had a week between chapters, so we had tons of time to theory craft and build our own theories and expectations for the show, so when things happen and they don't line up with our fan speculation or preconceived notions of how the show would go, it upset people. I think anime fans might still get disappointed or annoyed at the same points (assuming no changes) but since you get the content a lot faster than us, it won't be remotely as annoying for you as it was for us. So I feel pretty confident that even if the ending doesn't change, Luke and the rest of the anime only's will at worst think the ending was weak. Though with the right voice acting, music and production value, they could probably turn the points manga fans disliked into gems that anime fans will enjoy.

For some reason, lately I've seen A LOT of hate to one specific thing about this anime; The Crow girl, being honest, I don't really understand what's the big deal with her, or if that's actually a thing outside of the Spanish-speaker fandom, but still, the Crow girl seems to have too many haters out there

menelito

15:14 It's kinda like what they did in season 1 with the dating show thing: you're not faking emotions, just playing them up a bit. Totally valid method, in my opinion. The only thing is that you need to find a balance. You can't always lean 100% into the emotions because if you're doing 100% in a mildly emotional scene, then how are you gonna act in a very emotional scene? Either you're gonna also do 100% and downplay the scene by comparison, or you're gonna overplay it and look fake. It's not easy doing it right, Luke, which is why I can respect your work in comparison to the average Nicholas Light. I'll be real, I often find myself in disagreement with your takes on an episode or a scene, but I enjoy how you seem to get invested in the stories you watch (even if you don't remember the characters, eheh).

Fay X84

The Kana or Akane fandom → Sister Leveling route --- Unlocked! 😎 I can't believe this is the finale 😢 Looking forward for the last and 4th season reaction!

DeusSilvam

Also he's never heard "flash in the pan"? Luke really has some weird gaps in his knowledge.

Thanny

49:45 Loaded is slang for rich. Stupidly loaded means disgustingly rich.

ScrewThisNoise

I assume the dissapointment with the ending will come. There's always some of that. An ending means the end of all your diligently speculated head canons, your theory about how it ends, how it should end etc. That being said, I'd say it's decently well executed, in the manga at least, though I wasn't perfectly happy with it, it made sense.

Maple

patreon's gotta be uploading at 2mbs per minute I don't see why it would take this long

John Stevenson

thats fine if they do go that route, but im curious to see the so called horrible end animated so im happy either way lol

Kitsune

Why are people discussing the manga ending under an anime-only video? We're better off not knowing if it’s good or bad yet. Some of us don’t want to know either. Literally same as Attack on Titan when it was airing.

Kitsune

The incest stuff is funny, as if anime fans never seen shows that plays on that dynamic before but I can see why some would lose it their shit over this. It also sucks scrolling through comments and people have to talk about what their opinion of the manga ending is. It ruins it for others who don't wanna have a bias trying to experience it the first time.

John Stevenson

dont look at comments i guess? no one is spoiling anything so take that as a plus because I am surprised no dumbass has done that without realizing

TrySky

Literally nothing that weird about it she loved him as a kid and just found out he was alive even though she thought he was dead so it isn’t that crazy it’s not like they’re making moves on each other lmao

Fusssel

I think people forgot that the show always had a supernatural element (the reincarnation) and are a bit weirded of seing the "crow girl" as a god. Tbf when I reached the point in the manga it did threw me off a bit as well but I just accepted it.

Aaren YASS

Regardless of anyone's opinion on the series direction, I will say one thing I didn't like about the big scene between Aqua and Ruby is his eyes. Upon realizing she's Sarina, he gains a mostly consistent shine in his eyes around her. Why? Because Sarina-chan makes him happy. It's that simple. Yet, they left his eyes dark, as if this major reveal isn't enough for him or means less than his revenge when Aqua/Gorou is an extremely caring, thoughtful person. She is one of the most precious people in the world to him and left a major impression on him. They gave the scene some good ass sauce , but where's the star shaped sprinkles? They put emphasis on Ruby's but not his, that's odd.

Aaren YASS

They were shipped before this. But can't blame anyone this time, unlike other shows, it has a strange star crossed lovers trope playing in the background for them?? Even though it doesn't go anywhere nor did it need to come back because it's left unaddressed anyway.

Neki

Ya people are blowing the Alabama stuff out of proportion. They don't want to admit they cried moments before it happened too. Personally everything having to do with Miyako I didn't care about. So the big reveal in the middle of the episode and then the rest of the episode being rather boring. And wait til you see Tsukuyomi act.

Aaren YASS

They'd have to change A LOT to get there. But it seems they'll follow the ending given the foreshadowing and symbolism, though the results and consequences may change if they get the greenlight from the mangaka.

Maria Amado

Fun fact, incest is not illegal in Japan.

Lunar

The crazy thing is that Ruby's voice actress has no other major roles.
