Alex

OMG perfect timing, so excited to watch this one!!!

dartcp

I have to give a shout-out to all of us here because the "How to Train Your Streamer" project is a complete success! We've got him to the point where he watches "normal" movies. ^^

Pepe Valdez

Love HTTYD 2! Great reaction. I think I might be in the minority but I like 3 better! Enjoy your journey.

Juan Contreras

Are you gonna watch the tv series of how to train your dragon is about hiccup’s descendent. Is call dragons: the nine realms

Gianna

I toold you! The movies of dreamworks are masterpieces!! 🥹

John Rudd

Yeah if you're confused about the new outfit and gadgets, there were 2 series one that was on cartoon network and the other a Netflix original. Both took place between the 1st and 2nd movies. Showing how everyone got along with their dragons and expanding the world.

Daniel Gonzalez

Show was actually pretty cool if Luke wants to go back and watch it later I use d to watch that and Transformers prime with my nephew

axilir21

Yooo I didn't expect you to react to this already!

isaac lee

please react to the tv series it's one of me all time favs.

Oatmeal1504

Please do not react to the tv show. It's very episodic and definitely more geared towards kids than the movies. It might be nice for a handful, but I think it would get old fast for most people. Gravity Falls on the other hand...

God this truly is my favorite trilogy of all time. I’ve been obsessed since it came out and saw them all in theaters! It’s so much fun to see someone experience it for the first time like this. Something that occurred to me about Toothless and why he doesn’t seem that strong is that like, even when we meet him five years ago, he’s thought to be an incredibly rare species and possibly the last of his kind. So it’s probable that he wasn’t really raised among other Night Furies who could teach him how to use his abilities. Also with Valka, I always attributed her hesitancy to the fact she’s spent the past *20 years* basically without human interaction. Among all the personal feelings about returning to her old life, it’s probably really intimidating to think about going from complete isolation back into a human society, and if she even remembers how to be part of one. I would definitely say the second movie is geared towards kids who are a little older, but also for a good reason. Hiccup is 15 in the first movie, and they do line up the time skip with the second—it came out four years later and is set 5 years later. Hiccup is *20*. So the kids who saw the first one at 10-13 years old would now be 14-17, and the more serious themes and higher stakes reflect their growing maturity as well as Hiccup’s.

I watched this movie in theaters, I was 11 or 12 and during Stoiks funeral was the first and still only time I have cried watching something for the first time. I usually am not overly emotional with things until rewatches.

snowmeow03

btw about toothless' drawing in the first movie, if you look carefully you can actually find out that is he's perspective when hiccup was trying to touch him, his face and his opened hand by the side. I think that was he drawing hiccup in his eyes after seeing hiccup drew toothless in his eyes.

Arctic_Hokkyoku

Race to the edge is great, overarching plots moreso, I'd recomend he just show his kids HTTYD 1 and then the TV show and catch a few episodes along the way, then when they get older HTTYD 2 and 3

MarianLaurentiu97

Kids show were diffferent back then. Dreamworks surely knows how to make villains

Arketh Adrcn

Riders/Defenders of Berk and Race to the Edge are excellent expansion series to How to Train Your Dragon.

Quantum Anomaly

technically hiccup not listening to his dad ended killing him :/

shiroyama kurosaki

When you watch the shows you truly bond with stoic . After watching the show then seeing this ..it hurt so bad .

shiroyama kurosaki

One of my favorite scores..stoic ship or whatever it’s called I love it

shiroyama kurosaki

On the 3rd movie I beg you to let the credits play the ending song with the vid rips your heart out ..I beg you

Emily Jewett

2 might be my fav, but 1 and 3 are right there.

PLEASE watch the TV series! In addition to what chat said, you'll also be properly introduced to all the other dragons that have been casually mentioned, plus we get to see the characters gradually grow up too. As for Hiccup's foot, I always assumed that it was the only thing Toothless literately didn't save, as in it was left exposed to the heat and was literately burnt to the point of needing to be amputated? Toothless accidentally biting it off does kind of make more sense though... lol Also, a couple of neat facts that you might find interesting: the island of Berk is actually based off of a real island in a Norwegian archipelago called Bear Island, and the scene that pans in from the ocean is almost exactly the same as the real thing. In the books, Toothless is actually a Terrible Terror (the little green guys that swarm Gothi, the old lady). And in the book Hiccup can talk to dragons. (Like, he can speak Dragoneses or something.) Snotlout and Hiccup are cousins. And my favourite fact; you made note of how Hiccup is a cartographer, explorer, adventurer, navigator.... but he's also an inventor. He designed the saddles and all the dragon stuff around the village, invented Toothless's prosthetic tail (at age 15!), invented his own prosthetic, a sword that lights on fire and spits flammable gas, a freaking flight suit! The dude's a freaking genius and scientifically so far ahead of their time period, and no one appreciated it until he almost lost his life in the first movie.

The first movie came out on my thirteenth birthday, and the third and final one released when I was twenty three. I basically grew up with these movies, but they remain my favorite animated movies- and I feel like they grow and mature with their audience in a way. They remain “kids movies” but in the same way Avatar: The Last Airbender is a “kids show”. Both handle serious themes

Shad7860

did I hear mention of gravity falls?? Hell yeah!

Toasted Toad

BTW it's not How To Train *A* Dragon. It's How To Train *YOUR* Dragon

Silvered Fox

Gravity Falls, and The Owl House are two very beloved and very very good western cartoons. A great fit if you do need some shows in the meantime. It's been so long since I've seen this movie, but it's so good and thanks to your reaction here this is the first time I've rewatched it so thank you for the experience! The scene with Stoic still gets me and is part of why I put it off but I've been wanting an excuse to watch it again and this was a great one. I have started looking forward to these movies every week so thanks for doing them! Great idea, glad you're enjoying the journey

RoxyLoserlesbian

You learn how stoik got skullcrusher if you watch the tv shows

shiro kun

Omg a gravity falls reaction would be soooo amazing ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

Zandrick Krowe

You’re ready and yet not ready for Hidden World.

Dj

Ngl rewatching this reminded me of mushoku tensei for...the dad . If you know you know

Kenneth Hoerz

I'm so glad you are going to watch the Live Action version as well. You will not regret it.

Adriana Flores

Are you going to watch the Christmas short movie I think is 30 min?

𝖐𝖆𝖙𝖘𝖚𝖐𝖎 𝖇𝖆𝖐𝖚𝖌𝖔𝖆𝖙

I also agree, please watch the TV series Race to the Edge. You learn about the different dragon species, how people got their dragons, the real side characters personality's, and how hiccup invented all his tools. It's so worth it just worldbuiling wise but it's also amazing at the story it tells on its on

KitKat_Moushi

one of my favourite underrated movies of all time is Home. It has an amazing soundtrack

KitKat_Moushi

May I recommend putting it into a vote at some point to the react to the TV show for how to train your dragon. we meet a lot of the dragons that they covered in the book

Cyber

I'd watch the tv show too, maybe a few episodes at a time?

Lady RedShee

I also would love it if you would watch the series, especially Race to the Edge. Riders of Berk and Defenders of Berk are essentially the same series just broken up into two and the take place like right after the first movie, whereas Race to the Edge takes place closer to the second movie. Considering how much you want to know about the other dragon species I think you would like the shows. The cast is a bit different though, such as the fact that Gerard Butler isn't Stoick in the series and instead he is played by Nolan North.

rarebearvt

1:12:38 I cry everytime

AB Palmolja

Definetly! Race to the Edge is great. Has amazing worldbuilding and some great character development. I would watch it 100%.

AB Palmolja

Yeah, it really shows off the world and the characters, it's a great show.

Sian Richardson

I've never liked the part about the alpha's absolute control cause it creates problems with the ending of the forst movie. The alpha back then could have just brainwashed Toothless and the other dragons, but didn't. It doesn't really make sense.

BrookieDreamer

It would be amazing if you did reactions to the series! Starting with Riders of Berk!

TheJFKexperience69420

maybe that alpha was more like "rule with fear" kind of leader, it ate those that did not bring enough food and when they were away from it they tried to bring food, even though they could've just run (Fly) away.

Orkidaisy

I remember the feeling I got watching the Hiccup+Toothless flying scene from the beginning of the movie in cinema. I had such a visceral reaction the cheer joy it portrayed that I still remember it to this day. Such an awesome movie, and I just love how they let their characters to actually grow and mature. The first movie is for the younger audience, but this and the third are so much for those same kids that fell in love with the first movie and grew up at the same time with Hiccup.

Jocelynn Chartier

I saw someone once say that hiccup knew toothlesses blast to the second so he was going to dodge it last second but then stoic jumped right in front of it, so yes stoic passed a hero but it was also an unnecessary death because hiccup was going to avoid the blast

Hobiwater

You should react to Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole. It's also a animated movie and has great visuals just like this.

Sakura Minamino

Night Fury's are terrifying to them because they are fast and blend in with the night. Their attacks are also very quick and precise. So you can think of them as stealth bombers.

Sakura Minamino

In the first movie, the main dragon was a Queen. She was a different species from the Alphas here which are described as Kings. His mother explains it as "each nest has a queen but these are the kings". It seems mostly species based, but as you see here, it appears other dragons can become an alpha, but you see toothless doesn't seem to have the control ability so perhaps that particular species has a special ability that takes control of other dragon automatically putting them in an alpha position, but if you have the dominance, other dragons can do it too.

Stavik96

Toothless is missing a wing part, hiccup is missing a leg, the enemy alpha is now missing a horn and Drago is missing an arm granted that happened before the movie took place. It ain't easy beink a viking during the times of dragons.

Nightshade

when are you reacting to the third movie? D:
