YAY!!!! I’m loving our Classic Disney Movie Nights lol it’s helping me get through homework and depression lol 😆

Curwin Sphere

You definitely need to watch the 2023 live action. The lady, Halle Bailey who plays Ariel really exceeded expectations with her portrayal of Ariel and her vocals are just magical. I actually thought this was going to be it.

Graeson Thomas

Perfect timing. I randomly had "Part of Your World" stuck in my head and within a minute of that, I saw the notification for this in my email.

Lizzie✨

I agree he should also watch to experience the amazing Halle

Marez Canvas

I NEED THE LIVE ACTION NEXT! Beyoncé’s Artist Halle Bailey played Ariel and she sounded beautiful!!!!! It was really controversial… people didn’t like the fact that she was a black woman with locs, but Halle pushed through all the negativity and gave a stunning performance ❤️❤️❤️💯

RJ. K.

I am sooo enjoying watching Disney movies with you! This is the first time for me watching them all in English as well since i grew up with the Swedish version!

helianthus

Loving the Disney movies reactions! I think you would love Lion King and Mulan as well

Mimi

I definitely want to see you watch the live action.

FaerieRose

I love this movie so much. It came out when I was five and was one of the first movies I saw in the theater.

Emily Jewett

This is one of the few Disney movies that I enjoyed the direct to video sequel, the little mermaid 2 diving into a story about Ariel’s daughter. Anyway, my next recommendation from the time is Mulan. Add it to the list :) and have fun. Can’t wait to see the Michael reaction. After Michael, Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic of Queen, love that one.

Stephen Offutt

Love this movie, but Pocahontas is my fave!!

Aturtlern

It's been one of the best Disney live action remakes. Everything about it is beautiful.

Daniel Gonzalez

It was mainly because Lil Mermaid is like originally a Dutch fairy tale or some other well known pasty groups tall tale would it be right for them to make a Shaka Zulu movie starring Tom Holland nope so I also don't need HB in this movie

Ultimatum

waiting for atla

Alexandre Le Lay

I can't wait for the day you'll react to all the Tinkerbell movies. Honestly some of the best animated movies ever.

Gianna

And Avatar? :(

Marez Canvas

No it wouldn’t be right because Shaka Zulu’s race plays a Huge part in the story/history…it simply wouldn’t make sense at all…..Ariel is literally a talking fish (a fictional cartoon character), it wouldn’t matter what color she was, the storyline would still make sense…well unless your racist that is?

M3rlin

This was probably my favorite disney when I was a kid. I still love it, but I have realised it has a big issue... the fact that Ariel wants to be a human 😆 The whole reason I loved it was because it was about mermaids 😆 still a favorite though ❤️

PumpkinSparks

As most direct to video sequels the animation took a dive, but I agree the story of the sequel is really good and it's a fun movie! And yeah, absolutely second the Mulan rec!!! It's still one of my favourite disney movies

Alexandre Le Lay

Not Disney but A monster in Paris is a must watch. It's a french musical directed by Eric Bergeron (The Road to El Dorado, Shark Tale and worked as an animator on many other movies)

TheKnightwatchOfficial

Not a very good friend if he said this was his favorite movie and he never invited you over to watch it with him. And being on fins on land would have been very difficult to move around on. You sorta need legs to, you know, walk.

PumpkinSparks

It's kinda funny, when I watched this movie first I must have been like 8 or 9 and I absolutely adored Ursula! Like, I understood that she's the villain and she should be defeated and all that, but I thought she was so fabulous and sassy and boss lady. I was terrified by the souls in her cave (so much so that I vetoed it for movie nights a lot just because I did not want to watch those few scenes), super scared of the two eels, and in my childs mind the true villain of the movie: the cook!

Sarah

That’s probably my favorite live action! Halle was fantastic!

PumpkinSparks

This actually isn't a Grimm fairytale originally, but was written by a danish author called Hans Christian Andersen. Other widely known storys of his are the ugly duckling, princess and the pea, emperors new clothes, the snow queen... He wrote a lot of amazing storys that still live on in our cultural mindset. And unlike the brothers Grimm he actually wrote those stories. Grimm fairytells are a collection of stories that were told throughout europe in different versions for generations and the Grimms colleceted them, put their ultra-christian mysogonystic twist onto them, and then published them - which are the versions most people are familiar with now All of that being said, I actually grew up reading Andersen with my parents. And I loved the other fairytail disneys and understood that they changed them somewhat from the original (less bloody, more whimsy), but I was not ready for the changes they did to this story. So when I first watched the disney version on a sleepover I might possibly (totally) made my friends cry. I was really confused by the movie and my friends mother thought I didn't understand the whole voice switching bit and that Eric was put under a spell. But I was confused because in the original the prince never was seduced or tricked by the seawitch. He fell in love with another woman and the little mermaid was devestated but she understood that they truly loved each other. And she loved him and wanted him to be happy. So she basically stepped back, let the curse play out, and turned into seafoam aka died. The moral of the story is that if you truly love someone you want them to be happy even if that means you don't get what you want. So my child brain basically just blurted out "No! The end doesn't make sense. Ariel should die!!!" ... I think that's where I might have lost the room...

aleayarae_9794

This was my absolute favorite as a kid!! 🥰🥰

Krawbs

You really need to react to A Goofy Movie if you never watched it before!

Rennna

To answer your question how do mermaids do the do... Guess you have to watch Guillermo del Toro's Shape of Water to get the answer 😏

SidekickSteph

It’s usually posted by now, so I don’t think we’re getting it today. Here’s to hoping though 🤷‍♀️

SidekickSteph

I completely agree, they’re way better than they had any right to be. The Neverbeast is one of my favorite movies ever.

SidekickSteph

That’s the same shark from Finding Nemo actually, before he stopped eating fish and they became friends.

SidekickSteph

Would LOVE to see you react to Project Hail Mary. Luke, you’d fall in love with that movie and its story and characters, visuals, music, everything.

Nikkelz

hiccup on the upload likely. He was notified should be sorted by tomorrow </3

Nikkelz

Seen it sadly

SidekickSteph

I honestly don’t mind the live action 🤷‍♀️ I think the remake of Part of Your World makes it better, just how some of the notes move and go upward, it elevates the song while keeping the original at heart. I still prefer the original vocals, but she kills it in the LA too.

Kadda

Did you already watch Pocahontas? I really want to see you watch it 😊😊

PumpkinSparks

Yeah, first of all Danish not Dutch - huge difference! Second, it's a fictional story about a non-specific kingdom somewhere on the coastline of "ocean" containing merfolk and a seawitch. It really does not matter where in the world that story happens or what skin colour the characters have!!!

TomWithtime l

A comment in another post said he did watch it so they suspect the patreon upload failed and we should get it next time he uploads stuff - if that comment was accurate. I hope so, the next 4 are all fantastic.

Krawbs

NOOOOOOO!!!

patros36

"best disney live action" doesn't really say much lmao

TheWhiteWolves

you should look at watching The Aristocats

Guja Studios

1:16:23 - as they don't eat mermaids, it's more like you visit a place and they eat dogs and cats... Oh wait...

NikiBelle

Time to add the live action to the list! The 90s was the revival of Disney's animated musicals and all of them produced during that time are incredible! I highly recommend "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" - the music is incredible. "Beauty and the Beast" is my personal favorite. "Pocahontas"(as historically inaccurate as it is) tells an amazing story with beautiful music as well and was directed by the lead animator on the genie and who also decided the style of drawing for the entire film of "Aladdin."

Eamber

HE NEEDS TO SEE IT! I adore the Live Action!

Zandrick Krowe

Disney Movies to watch imo: Lilo and Stitch The Great Mouse Detective Treasure Planet/Atlantis Hunchback of Notre Dame Emperors New Groove Sleeping Beauty Princess and the Frog

Jorja

So excited for the michael movie reaction, going to be looking out for it all week next week!!!!

Kaylee Smeaton

You should check out the japanese versions of the disney songs. The one the genie sings in Aladdin, the voice is quite spot on. Also, please check out the live-action of Aladdin. And have you seen Hercules, thats a fun watch too! And Aladdin 3 is also pretty cool. 2 wasn't great.

Tico Machi

Wait, who was out here recommending you to watch the live action Aladin? Disney's live action remakes are all hot garbage.

Kaylee Smeaton

Triton is loosely based of greek mythology Poseidon, and in roman mythology Neptune. He rules over Atlantis.

Kaylee Smeaton

Didn't he also write a fairy tale about the Snow Queen, which Frozen is loosely based of?

Kaylee Smeaton

Jodi Benson is Ariel singing voice... and I think speaking voice too. She also voiced Snow White.

Kaylee Smeaton

Sorry for so many comments lmao. You said you love the Black Cauldron? The Black Cauldron is a dark fantasy tale deeply rooted in Welsh mythology. The story and its setting of Prydain (the Welsh word for Britain) draw heavily from The Mabinogion, an ancient collection of Welsh legends. The infamous magical artifact itself is inspired by the legendary Pair Dadeni (Cauldron of Rebirth) The Welsh Mythological Roots The central premise of The Black Cauldron closely mirrors the "Branwen Daughter of Llŷr" tale from the second branch of the Welsh Mabinogion. In the original myth, the Irish are given the Pair Dadeni (Cauldron of Rebirth)—a magical vessel with the power to resurrect the dead. Just like the resurrected "Cauldron-Born" warriors in the modern story, the resurrected men in the Welsh myth returned to the battlefield, though they were rendered unable to speak. The cauldron in the myth is ultimately destroyed when Efnisien, a Welsh warrior, sacrifices himself by throwing his living body into it to end its evil reign The Chronicles of Prydain The direct precursor to the well-known 1985 animated film is a five-book fantasy series by American author Lloyd Alexander titled The Chronicles of Prydain. Alexander spent time in Wales during World War II, where he became enchanted by the castles, rugged scenery, and local language. He utilized these experiences and his studies of Celtic folklore to construct the mythical world of Prydain Characters and Lore The Welsh influence permeates almost every facet of the story's world: Taran & Eilonwy: The heroes' names are rooted in Welsh origins (Taran meaning "thunder" in Welsh). Hen Wen: The prophetic pig is named using the Welsh words for "old" (Hen) and "fair" (Wen). Fair Folk: The magical creatures aiding the heroes are inspired by the Tylwyth Teg, the legendary fairies and folk of Welsh mythology.

Nate Ming

I'm loving this look back at the Disney Renaissance Era, but a part of me also wants to see like... horror movies, or action movies, or any kind of "pop culture blind spots" you've got

Sian Richardson

What exactly do the merpeople eat if not fish?

PumpkinSparks

I literally named the snow queen in my list of examples 😂 but yeah, the first drafts of frozen were based on the snow queen with Elsa being the antagonist. Then they decided that a story about sisterly love is way more powerful and changed the story immensly. Funnily enough that actually brought Elsa closer to the original Snow Queen - she was cold hearted and a being of pure logic, but not an evil sorceres trying to bring eternal winter to the world as most modern iterations make her out to be

TheHufflePug

I’m begging you to react to Pitch Perfect

Sunami Stelling

Awesome idea! It became one of my fav movies.

Sébastien Montibert

Little Mermaid and Aladdin feel the same ? And remind u of Hercules ? Well, maybe because the three of them was made by Musker & Clements. Kind of logical, isn't it ?

Warren

TBF Ariel wanted to be part of the human world before ever meeting Eric, he became her crush and that bit of motivation to join the human world, but that desire was always still there, He isn't her sole reason, but still he results in her making rash decisions

Damien Frost

You will probably gay the end credit scene of moana now

PoshDoll

Cinderella with Brandy is my all time favorite movie!

PoshDoll

Mulan is soooo good. Yes!!

Magic-Cat-39

I hope Luke watches that too

Nidbeard

Triton is a son of Poseidon in greek mythology, while Neptune is the roman equivalent to Poseidon. So you´re not that far of thinking Neptune would be the ruler of the sea, before knowing what mythology they took the name from

Gina

You’ve got to react to Princess & the Frog if you haven’t seen it. Hands down my fav Disney movie

Aaliyah Fountain

Omg Luke!! I just thought you can watch some of Disney Channel original movies if you’d like too also. My recommendations are “ The Cheetah Girls” (3 movies total) , “High school Musical” (3 movies total ) & “Camp Rock” (2 movies total )

Aaren YASS

Why should he watch the inferior version ☠️ the actress can only do so much for that. That damn bird balances out all the good things the live action does tho 😂

Aaren YASS

Has he never seen them? I'd be shocked if he's never seen Lion King.

JOSHUA A STERRETT

Poor Unfortunate Souls. One of the best villain songs in the Disney canon. And Part of Your World, one of the best I Want songs in the Disney canon. Truly, this film does not miss on its score.

JOSHUA A STERRETT

Got a Disney movie suggestion. Classic Disney era, and less commonly known. It's called "Oliver and Company" and it's a beautiful story about found family.

Coldy Snow

Please please please react to Sing & Sing 2. so so much music and I Promis you especially in the First one big big Smiles!!! 😍

Jae Right

Definitely watch live action Aladdin and Little Mermaid.

Mandi

Please consider reacting to the Twisted Wonderland anime with characters based on Disney villains! One of them is based on Ursula. They also have songs for the different dorms/houses on YouTube. Twisted Wonderland is a game, manga, and novels with anime now (getting a second season in December)! Twisted Wonderland is a successful combination of classic Disney villains/stories, anime, and like a Harry Potter style of magical school.
