The failsafe Ben had created didn’t activate. More accurately, it couldn’t. What Ben had built beneath his god’s church was in essence a gate, one that was meant to connect to a far deeper layer of reality than something like the world’s network would ever touch, and while he hadn’t been able to test it at the time, so fresh off of someone else opening a gate to hell on the world, when he looked back at how he’d designed it compared to how he’d grown since, he was still certain it should have worked. There was nothing wrong with the design itself, meaning the issue came from elsewhere, Ben already having a guess as to what.

If the key wasn’t connecting, sending the signal it needed to join the two spaces, then that meant that the issue was likely a matter of where he currently was. That, despite all he’d prepared, the unknown factor of trying to reach the mortal plane from hell instead of the reverse created an extra level of challenge that he couldn’t overcome, trapping him in there.

Trapping me for now, he told himself, refusing to be a defeatist about it. I can access mana, which means I have tools to work with. First things first, I just need to make sure I don’t risk running out while I’m busy trying to keep myself alive.

Since Ben had been fractured with his rings, that meant he still had all of them and their contents to work with, letting him pull out and shape the pounds of rainbow mana crystal each one of him would have access to, making bands of the stuff around his arms and filling them with souls to start absorbing mana as well. If he was going to be there for long, then he needed all the power he could get as he began overfilling his soul in preparation for everything that was to come.

Even with all he’d been through, the infinite hells were strange to him. His mind was split across all of those bodies, yet still undeniably linked, and his soul was the same. Each one didn’t have its own mana pool, they were all pulling from the same source, and yet, each individual Ben was able to stretch his soul out to its normal limits, the action bringing with it swaths of information as they explored the void around them.

With results that couldn’t help but capture his interest. All around him were souls; it didn’t seem like there were any other outsiders to be found down there, but they didn’t all share the same space. Other souls, farther from him were also fractured beyond his range, letting him experience reality beyond his limits as well once he took over their unusable minds with his own, the omnipotence he normally felt when stretching out his soul now all the greater for the seemingly endless span he could cover. He didn’t have all of hell in his range; he had no way to tell just how large it truly was, but in that moment, Ben was existing at a scale incomparable to anything else in reality as he knew it.

Stranger still were the places his soul crossed over itself, experiencing the same segments of hell multiple times and increasing the depth of his alien sense, showing it was possible to enter what should have been different fragments without any issue. It all felt unnatural, and yet, in the time he’d been there, Ben was beginning to understand it.

Compared to learning how to think in more than three spatial dimensions, this really isn’t much, he told himself. Hell, there’s probably a few good ways to exploit this effect too, but for now, I’m still sore, so I need to figure out how to get out of here.

As he overfilled his soul, Ben used the mana to change the church he was dropped in, each instance of it being remade into an air-tight container to free him from the cramped confines of his actualization and let him float within a larger vessel, the void he was trapped in lacking anything to provide a meaningful source of gravity.

A fact all the more depressing, given he would have liked nothing more than to be able to walk and pace as he went over his options, finding them to be few. If going up from hell was substantially different from going down, then trapped as he was, all he could do was experiment until he broke through, either making a new tool that would connect to the gate he already had ready and waiting above, or else something that would punch a hole through what divided those planes itself.

Which should be possible, and, well, it’s not like I don’t have time.

He could make air, food, and water with his mana, since he’s already made more souls to steal from and had others already with him sentenced to the same fate, he would have no issue stealing mana to sustain every instance of himself, and since he didn’t need sleep, he had all the time he could want to work on a way out. Really, the only limiting factor in the long run would be his body atrophying under the lack of gravity, but that would be at the very least weeks away before he’d start suffering any major complications from such a thing, and perhaps even longer, given all the changes that had happened to his body since arriving in that world.

And, more than any potential time limit, he now had manpower like never before. Every body he had was connected and could be controlled in a way that others who shared his fate could never replicate, meaning he had well over a million selves to act with, building and enchanting until he made his way out. He’d need to pull practically endless quantities of mana into himself from every soul he could reach for all of the materializing he’d need to do, but so what? Overfilling his soul had long since become a fact of life; the pain it brought was something to be ignored, and with nothing else to do, he got started, forming and testing theories to see if any would stick.

Mmh, okay. Not good.

It had only been an hour since he’d started in earnest, but that was an hour where every option he had come up with had been explored. Tens of millions of designs made and tested in that time across every instance of himself, be they subtle modifications of the key meant to link to his gateway to grander projects of making a gate down below to open a different path, yet so far, all of them failed.

He had weeks before he’d need to start worrying about how it was going to affect his health, of course, likely far longer in reality, yet no amount of time would fix a fundamental difference in how going up that layer of reality might be against going down. There was a chance it would require constant, dedicated research, building tools and straining his senses to learn all he could. Above, gates were a well-researched topic by mortals and gods alike. He understood how they interacted with the mortal plane. In hell, it was entirely unstudied. He’d be working from scratch, trying to model that lower level of the universe.

But if I have to do that, at least one of me can pursue some different options.

Research didn’t always yield results from focusing on the problem, after all. Discoveries were just as often made by looking at a different topic and exploring the findings to be had in a different area, so with that, while most Bens continued on, two of them used their mana to move the churches they were confined in through the void, piloting them towards each other until eventually, they met.

Touching with a light clink, both Bens merged one with the other with their mana and, with a mind full of curiosity, opened a hole between the newly conjoined buildings to see the other him. Not a clone, like he so often worked through, but instead his actual body across from him, accessible only due to the strange nature of that lower realm.

Both moved together at once, meeting in the middle with their souls already overlapped, and both reached out their hands, touching the other to see what happened.

“Nothing,” they said in one disappointed voice. “Hmm, was kind of hoping that we’d re-merge into one guy, but… well, nothing bad happened either, so at least these instances of myself didn’t die brutally.”

And even if he failed, it wasn’t like there weren’t other things he could still test, leaving him to poke and prod at himself for a bit before trying something else. One retracted his soul while the other tried to take him over, eyes widening as he did.

Now this at least is interesting. Just not immediately useful.

Taking himself over was a bit hard to define, given they were all still linked, but Ben had done something he hadn’t needed to bother with since before he had gained deep connection. He was touching his copy, and through that, his soul settled into it in a way it hadn’t ever before when there was ever any distance between him and the flesh he connected to, letting him expand his soul out of the other body as if it were the source of it.

He hadn’t transferred his soul over to it though; he was still confined to his original flesh, or as much as he could call it that in its current state. If he pulled away, the soul would slip back into its original source, but the fact that such a use of soulcraft made the center of his soul a different vessel immediately sparked his imagination, as different applications of how that might be used came to the front of his mind.

Assuming it also works up above. If it can only be done down here, then that’s a bit of a dead end if I ever escape, but… I’ve connected to others I’ve touched in the mortal realm since getting soulcraft without finding I could do this, but I haven’t connected to one of my clones or anything without a soul while touching them, in which case…

He pulled a clone from his ring and took its hand, forming a connection with it and feeling the same thing take place. The center of where his outstretched soul sat moved to it instead and left a grin to spread across his face.

“Interesting. The nature of my skill might be treating all of the instances of myself the same way it does any homunculus since, as weird as it is, we still technically have one linked soul, so up above, I might be able to still shift the position of my soul slightly, and with a decent enough space mage, I could think of a lot of different ways I could use that, but none that actually help with the current situation. Okay, next attempt then.”

One he felt had promise. The fact that two different instances of himself could be together meant that more could as well, and with that, other Bens stopped their experiments as well, joining the first two to see if a result found far earlier would scale.

Crossing souls increased the depth of alien sense, a skill that gave him a weaker version of the senses of the creatures he connected to, and even at its ninth level, it still didn’t match the power that the originals held, which still wasn’t much of a loss for him. What it lacked in power, it made up for in depth, with all of the senses the world over creating a general awareness around him that, when combined with soulcraft, made for an extraordinary power. If crossing souls continued to increase the depth of that skill though, then it would create new options he hadn’t had before, with each other Ben he met proving the trend would continue.

That success made the rest of them finish up the last of their experiments to join them as well as their numbers grew, from hundreds to thousands to ten thousands as the churches each one sailed were reshaped, going back to be more akin to the coffins he'd first actualized to make sure more and more Bens could cross over in range, creating a point within the mass of soul overlap that would experience the greatest possible benefit of that strengthening effect.

A hundred stacked easily beat what the holders of any of the original senses Ben had made his own would feel in the majority of cases, and a thousand beat what everyone would. Ten thousand and he imagined that the way he was perceiving reality in the overlap to be at least the level of a contender for any sense skill, and at one hundred thousand, he imagined it was enough to beat the way any god in their prime could observe reality.

At a million, comparison was no longer possible. Even in that lightless void, he could see that realm in a way that had to be verging on the quantum aspects of that reality, and when it came to the soul senses he’d developed himself, as well as those he’d claimed aspects of from connecting to the soul mages, the soul spirits, Mora, and even the gods, and it let him see a previously hidden world of depth within his own soul that forced him to not only materialize new ones for him to explore, but also left him to control and drag over other prisoners of that plane to examine, too wrapped in their own suffering to notice him.

But even at a million, there were more Bens still to come as another hundred thousand joined; then two, then three, and kept coming until every Ben was in the same space, shoulder to shoulder, head to foot, stacked on top of one another as tightly as they could to ensure that at the center of it all, every Ben could cross over with every other to at least some extent, leaving them to revel in the sense of observation it left.

In that realm, he had been split exactly 1,864,592 times, and as their alien senses combined and merged, building on each other in a way that no mortal or god had ever experienced before, Ben felt unstoppable. If the fourth tier were possible to achieve in that reality then what he was experiencing had to be within its middle levels as he let himself delay in his revenge against the gods who trapped him to materialize, looking at everything he could make. The particles that made up the particles that made up ordinary matter were plain before him, and the way mana could change an atom to make a magic material was laid clear. Materialization was built upon the knowledge one held, and now Ben understood matter and souls in a way nothing else in the universe would. He took it all in, growing as much as he could from the experience before he ended.

He’d spent entire minutes in research and rapture, but minutes to him would be an eternity to others and, once he’d gotten all he could, that let him plot his escape.

After all, for every sense he held, he possessed far stranger ones too that existed under the umbrella of his alien sense. The way reality was perceived by the space spirits and their great one, Ogilt; holders of high space affinities who’d managed to get access to ‘space sense’ and other, similar skills, and a few others found in the world with some manner to sense the fabric that made it up. Thanks to them, he was feeling the fabric of reality in a way that not even the great spirit or gods that ruled over it could, but there was one more in the mix who gave him what he really needed.

Dewdrop, the lazy scrungle in his home that had decided it preferred pethood to the thought of being a person as soon as it had encountered the concept, was a being that had felt the walls and the limits of its reality and smashed through them with what seemed like willpower alone, yet even it hadn’t been able to escape the hells it had been trapped in, the fractured nature of it disorienting even an outsider, but Ben had grown far beyond the strangest member of his family. The same senses that had let it smash through its universe, he was currently experiencing at at least the fourth tier, and with them and the space senses native to that universe in tandem, he did the only thing he thought had a chance. Every instance of him held their necklace, the key out of hell, and ran their mana through it, while only the few in the center of it all, feeling their overlapping understanding of reality at that point, were able to do otherwise.

Each of them at the core of the swarm pulled back their arms and, as one, punched, feeling space as they did it and seeing the way it moved before they did it again. Smoother, more accurately, getting a sense of how their bodies would interact with it before doing it again and again and again until, shocking him even when he aimed for that very result, he felt his fist strike something.

Just like Dewdrop had billions of years ago, Ben had touched reality and, succeeding there, kept going, continuing to strike, harder and harder and harder, feeling his knuckles bleed against the void itself until, suddenly, he no longer needed to. Small cracks appeared at the impact point, and that was enough. The hole made, his key sent its signal through, activating the gate waiting on the other side as space itself crumbled before him, letting Ben step through.

YESSS! *cackling intensifies*

Gale Emm

Yeah so those gods are super fucked

Simon Andriessen

Oh my. Surely this gets him closer to awakening his magic and crafting. Either of them could pull in enchanting. He's so very close.

Enxes

Holy hell! What a chapter. Ben is coming out of here with the knowledge of the universe

Luboš Hemala

Yaaay! Ben the multiversal monster again on the move!

Gale Emm

Waaaaait are we about to see a time skip or something? <_<

Tiarnaria

I'll be honest imma have to reread this in the morning as I'm confused about what happened

Ben Cox

Oh everyone is so fucked, they were worried about his abuse of God skills like realm access before now he's awakened all three gods are normally known, actualization, realm access and condemnation

Joshua Schneiders

infinite hells YES, he's gotten some extreme benefits from being down there, I was hoping he would explore the memories of those left to rot down there but being able to physically interact with reality itself and see how things work on the smallest scales he could probably make a trip back when he wants to now. also time to see if he retains his army of bens when he returns now, the gods that plotted against him are going to have aneurisms seeing ben basically invading from the hells, also myriad is going to be simultaneously glad he is safe and fearful for the future with his new state of being causing him more stress.

Simon

Hell yeah Tftc

Einheit

Welp… Any bets on how many friendly gods are gonna shove their arms into Ben this time? Also, anyone know what to put in Eneths tombstone?

Luboš Hemala

Planar manipulation, what a great way to awaken a skill. Makes me wonder what other things the skill allows and of he really needed the portal.

Sammot

Ha! Honestly that was easier than i thought for ben! Thought it was gonna be harder! I hope ben just goes back here later to train

Isaac Boyles

Hahahahahahaha oh this is going to be fun

J H

Begun, the clone war has.

Ozzy

I'm pretty sure he could of escaped on his own but he would have ended up in some random point in the universe. The portal let him go strait home.

Jeppe Lund

Very satisfying, but the wait for next chapter is evil

Jon Lomax

tftc, thats was well done. really enjoyed reading this chapter, you managed to write a difficult conceptual imagery space and took us for the ride. thanks

Zif

Great chapter!

Bluesun Rise

Ah yes, Ben learning to punch a hole into reality before he awakens either of his two core skills. Also still probably insist he's a craftsman first and foremost. Also, also, thanks for the chapter.

Alexander Dupree

I’m ready for tomorrow! This was a good chapter!

Ben Cox

Didn't he get actualization to the second teir ages ago, yeah he awakened it to esoteric actualization

Ozzy

Only the hell layer. I'm not sure if he can reproduce that effect in the mortal realm. Maybe if he gets a million homunculi made.

IdolTrust

Ben just unlocked world walking. Those gods are going to be shocked. And the tax he is going to hit all gods for this blasphemy act. Plus targets to steal faith, blessings and skills from with those gods who dumped him there would unlock a tier 4 evil god or Greater Evil God.

Jonathan Wood

Probably not… remember to him this has been maybe a few hours. A day or two tops depending on how long it took to gather his fractured selves and once they were all together? Minutes… “He’d spent entire *minutes*… but minutes to him would be an eternity to others”

IdolTrust

Time might be different in hell.

Ozzy

Given that their isn't a million Dewdrops running around I'm pretty sure all the splinters combine back into one when someone leaves the Hell realm.

Jonathan Wood

But it hasn’t reached tier 3 yet.

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter!

Gale Emm

This is my great fear

Luboš Hemala

The jobs he can expect after this..

Jonathan Wood

It seems it should be possible with his Homunculi since he did try and succeed with one in his test here. Though if that works differently in the Mortal plane that’s to be seen but the potential is promising at the moment.

Alexander Dupree

Wait it took him and hour to leave? How fast did Thea destroy all those churches?!??

TBONEMAN

Im surprised ben is going to kill eneth before he fights the rogue evil god that escaped from the infinite hells

Schmidt

I knew those two would combine from this!

Schmidt

oh no destruction and evil authority arent synced up anymore! Hes gotta do something evil catch up. Maybe idk kill some gods?

Jonathan Wood

TLDR Ben realizes beacon signal can’t escape from Hell to reach Mortal world. Ben figures out he can “overlap” his senses by “connecting” with himself. Think like he turned himself into a giant microscope. This allows him to perceive reality in a much deeper and more informative way. Dewdrop couldn’t break out of Hell because they couldn’t function properly while Fractured but the method they used in their own universe still works. So now that Ben can sense the planar wall he punched a crack big enough for the hell portal signal to get through. Edit: Eneth and Co. are about to thoroughly regret their actions even more than they already are.

John Vistica

Great chapter. Minor nit is that Ben, being from Earth, should have acknowledge that he could eventually create his own gravity via centrifugal force...maybe connect two churches together with a cable and spin them up. In the end, he wasn't around long enough for it to matter.

Schmidt

Thats a good point

Schmidt

Oh boy, if he can step up from hell to the mortal world physically, that means he can join the gods with more than just his soul :D

Ekko

I actually hoped his Eldritch Mind and Knowledge would get a Level from that, but damn that was fire. Finally he can fuck around with Space!

IdolTrust

Yup. Plus he could physically save greys as well as he could make a portal to their dimension.

John Vistica

There was also the time needed to travel all of the Bens to the central location. Can't brain-speed that.

Alexander Dupree

I don’t know if Ben will ever trust the gods to touch his soul again. This seems like the sort of traumatic experience that results in unilateral responses.

demure

Need more~~

Mypage

Good point ☝️

Charles Hughes

Doesn't matter, he has the knowledge now

Matías Rojas

Did you read project hail mary recently?

Dastardly Daoist

Im surprised he got out in just one chapter. Great chapter though

Call0013

And their was me thinking that Ben was going to do a Ritual with his 1.8 million bodies,Souls,Minds, etc. I wonder what Classes he got from this.(Maybe even another tier 4 class).

copperspike

fuck yeah, i'm surprised he didn't collect the total populace of hell though

Benji

I am feeling a very weird sense of pride and satisfaction reading this. Ben took being damned for like, an hour before figuring a way out? Hilarious! Why do I get the feeling he'd go back for more training? One of the biggest questions will be how many Bens emerge, and will any stay? Or do they condense into one upon release? Thanks for the chapter!

copperspike

honestly i think the bad gods' betrayal of ben has likely made myriad give up any care for optics regarding him, which i feel was the main source of myriad's stress, so honestly i kind of feel like he'll be a lot more relaxed from now on

Benji

Does 1,864,592 have any significance? Only did some quick searches, but couldn't find anything that stood out.

Vorquel

Man, I really hope time spent down there wasn't multiplied by the number of instances he had. Two million hours is over two hundred years.

ReadingObsessed

"He’d spent entire minutes in research and rapture..." Love that he finally got a minute to himself for research.

Ollieols

Thanks for the chapter! I doubt itll happen, but I wonder what bens control over his "minor" divinities, especially for the weirder ones like alien sense and planar manipulation.

Hellophi

Tyftc, did Ben just... Punch his way out of hell, through overlapping his soul with itself, and amplifying his sense of the universe. Crazy

copperspike

edit suggestion: "but minutes to him would be an eternity to others" should probably be the other way around, as he can fit a subjective eternity into what others would see as minutes

OlivierA

So… how many Bens went through ?

copperspike

since alien senses has awakened to 3rd tier now it'd be a major divinity

Blackking👑

Wonder if he can is Planar manipulation like space magic

Blackking👑

Like don't see why he wouldnt be able to

Carl Mason

He studied it for actual minutes, but with his frame of reference being so high, those minutes would be an eternity for others. I struggled with it at first, too.

copperspike

yeah, he studied it for a time that *for others* would be minutes, which for him is an eternity

Hellophi

He'll still trust Myriad, Helori, Nare, and Anillia, probably some others that they trust as well.

TheCrazyDuck

Thank you so much for the chapter! This had me laughing or smiling for most of it.

LurkNautili

Muscles atrophying isn't a real problem when spin gravity is so trivial to implement

Justin Aether

2 million hours is 2 hundred years, yes, but you have to consider also that 2 million BEN hours is like, 20 minutes. So it probably evens out

Ben Word

Are Planar Manipulation and Layered Alien Sense 3rd tier skills now?

Drayko543

Correction He isn't connecting with himself, he can overlap his senses because the Infinite hells allows him to have multiple copies of his body each using Alien sense in the same area

SacredSteel

Did he just punch out of the infinite hells ? And become way stronger because he was sent here. Well only Ben I guess.

Spicyice101

Are those tier 2 or tier 3 awakenings, I can’t for the life of me remember where the previous ones were. Edit: wait, I think they’re tier 2 because he didn’t get any new tier 1 skills, which is a 100% guarantee when awakening to tier 3.

Alik9999

If he can do that i hope this story evolves from just waiting from the next wave to appear to a guerrilla style story where ben and the people of the world hope between different planet and attack the demons until they get eradicated.

Jonathan Wood

No he is “connecting” with himself just not necessarily through Connect but via Soulcraft. 25th paragraph “flesh he connected to, letting him expand his soul out of the other body as if it were the source of it.”

Michigo

Worse, much worse. Ben was limited by the amount of Bens he could put close together. Meaning the Father of Abominations can surely figure out a horrifying way to cram much more "Bens" into one place. Heck, i very much doubt complete bodies are required for it. Just grow a super brain made out of a billion "regular" Ben brains to really break all the rules.

Neverborn

Where can i find a recent character sheet for Ben?

Firf

Behold Planeswalker Ben!

Michigo

Time in hell moves at plot speed.

Jonathan Wood

Relaxed? Probably not. Cheering him on from the sidelines as he takes a Pepto for his chronic ulcer? Much more likely.

Firf

I also did some calculations, like checking for power of 2 but came empty

Scott

Ben appears in the divine realm during the/a meeting of the gods and singles out those responsible but rather than retaliate he smiles and bows saying "thank you, I learned a lot and couldn't do it without you". Then leaves without any further explanation.

Michigo

Ben is petty, but the loyal kind of petty. He will surely bicker with Miriad and Co about this shitshow, but that's it. The Gods that banished him to hell on the other hand, and the so called neutral gods that just shrugged their shoulders? Well those are in for a bad time. The best part: trust but verify is as simple as stretching out his soul a bit. I bet Miriads attempt at eating Eneth while fighting against a whole bunch of gods at once, will earn him a lot of grace in Bens books. That was dumb af, but Miriad clearly had Bens back when shit got tough.

Michigo

My question to my fellow Turnip enjoyers: A) Ben returns in relative secret in the churches basement, talks a bit with folks and starts putting certain Gods in their place. OR B) Bens breakout of frickin Hell ends up freaking the godly community out instantly, because they can somehow notice it. Shit goes crazy much faster.

Michigo

It's hilarious. Of all the things he has already done, punching a hole in the fabric of hells reality to break out of hell... isn't considered evil.

conkerer

Actually yeah good point. If you lop the arms off a homonculus it probably still counts as you. Extend the logic and I don't even know if technically the brain is required since he thinks with his soul and his brain isn't required given what happened when he lost his head. How much can he mutate and shave off of a homonculus and keep it still counting as him? I'm almost imagining him making a flesh mecha made out of a ten billion differently mutated Bens that is like 3 kilometers tall which is also now his new laboratory lmao

Regan

Yeah!!!

conkerer

Honestly, an interesting idea, the only reason everything is so dire is because they only have one planet. Why can't they stage an invasion to reclaim one of their lost planets? They just have to terraform the planet a bit to make it liveable again but a fighting retreat to another planet to buy more time seems like a more real plan than make a last stand and hope for mercy.

conkerer

Hard to say, given meeting up with your copies seems to be very nontrivial. Usually a portal out only opens in one spot and if you get fragmented a million ways in different directions it would be very unlikely that you find yourself to get another copy out.

juneboi2

Discord probably

Taylor Harris

Hopefully he goes straight to kicking the metaphorical door down to the gods and grabs eneth and gang by the throat and either killing or starting torture for knowledge.

juneboi2

Delicious chapter. I have a feeling he will be back, though. He was having way too much fun.

conkerer

Eneth goes back the next day to check on the prisoners and instead finds Ben holed up in his new divine laboratory in the prison avoiding talking to people so nobody can complain about what he is doing to his new test subjects.

Krae Z Hand

We know Thera had time to raze a few churches, so he's been gone at least an afternoon

Krae Z Hand

I do wonder if Ben got splintered into the number of individual thought strands he has. It would make sense why most of the other souls down in hell don't seem to be splintered that way

Krae Z Hand

Does anybody else even know about that God?

KENNETH C

It only at the second tier.'

Emily Gurnavage

Proooooolly not, I doubt its been longer than a day. I was concerned about a time skip from time workin differently there before this chapter, but it was made fairly clear that Bens subjective time there was measured in hours rather than days. Between that and us only seeing an afternoon's worth of content from Myriad and Thera so far, I strongly doubt there is a time difference. Otherwise we should have gotten a repeat of the other times Ben was gone for longer with Thera and Myriad spending days/weeks worried and depressed and stuff.

bioenthusiast

Ben went from hivemind to gestalt for a bit, guess we got a glimpse into t4 eldrich mind.

Emily Gurnavage

Maybe he can make the Demonic portal anchors fuck off from his planet. Or separate the planet from the rest of reality in some core way. Stop the third invasion from even being possible, and then just focus on killing Oaun.

Kendaar

I would be really interested to see ben keep the duplicates. Since they are all Ben he could place them planet wide to help with the defence effort or condense them again to accomplish similar reality breaking feats. The level of omni presence ben could reach with them would truly make him feel like a god.

Arlano

It's divisble by 16. That's it.

Arlano

1069 got the most recent one I think.

Nicolae

What is so important about 1,864,592 ?

probably the first time Ben has solved a problem by punching something lol

There’s a discord?

yeah ben doesn't know about him. if he did he would absolutely hunt him down. to save the world and get revenge and all that, but also because naloth's ritual made him a contender for every affinitied magic (and more besides) and ben would love to enchant with those

Preston Bowers

He only has one mana pool though, so the rest of that doesn't really affect his ability to cast ritual spells compared to the normal.

Redc05

Will he be able to close the demon teleports now?

Matías Rojas

He was split in two 20 times compounding, basically

Redc05

He can save the Grey now!

Matías Rojas

Still a minor divinity, since it awoke to t2

Matías Rojas

Ben already has contender level magic rings for every magic, except maybe time. I think there was a contender archmage, and there's also the great spirits, all ov which are contender level or better

Nicolae

that would be 2^20 which is 1,048,576. 123^3 would be closer 1,860,867

Marcel Ortlepp

And next time he grabs himself some of the lesser researched magical materials, goes down to hell and uses his MindTeleskop2Mio(tm)

Luboš Hemala

If he traveled back in time that would be the true mind fuckery.

Zak Webb

But 2^20=1,048,576, and 2^21 is over 2 million. In fact, the prime factors of the number are 2^4 * 116,537. This is a weird number, and I don't know where it came from

Luboš Hemala

I think they are T2. He did receive destined holder titles instead of destined god of.

Luboš Hemala

Interesting point. He will certainly have greater understanding of them.

Michigo

Or he studied it for minutes, (and got results) that would take others a real eternity. That sentence is funny, because it works both ways. Hence the exact meaning is unclear without context. We readers have all the needed context, that's why we can understand it either way.

Emily Gurnavage

Omg lets not add time paradoxes to the existing insanity of this story lmao. I wouldn't be upset if there was like a 1 week gap still though. Id love a chapter thats just a general overview of the world at large and the common peoples response to what those Gods did and a bit of time for actual fallout before Ben comes back. Most/all of the world protesting those Gods and having their faith as a whole shaken *before* Ben comes back and righteously murders those responsible hits a bit different than him enacting his first proper Holy Crusade before most of the common people even know anything happened.

Michigo

Yes and no. He can surely close them, but that's a bad idea. Because the wave 2 demons are useful training material for the mortal defenders. That and without the great space spirit to power the demon god took over that duty himself. Ben really doesn't want to poke THAT one right now.

copperspike

@conkerer i think you mean phixth, eneth is the main ben hater, also i adore the idea of Ben just taking over all the anti-ben gods' realms and making them his own

Emily Gurnavage

Im half convinced Oaun will be dead before he manages to awaken enchanting at this point lmao. Hes gettin enough powerups that he might he able to contest him as he is. Plus - after all that just happened, I wouldn't be tooo wildly surprised if he starts to recieve the worship/faith of those from the Gods he is about to murder. Or somehow steals their current Faith to add to his own. Plus whatever theatrics he enacts when he comes back might be enough to convince many to worship him even if they still respect their current/old God as well. The world knows that a powerful God is what they really need, and half the world worshipping Ben might be the answer.

John Vistica

And saw the movie. Yes, I was channeling that and 2001: A Space Odyssey

Emily Gurnavage

Someone remind me please how many T3 skills Ben has now. Im not entirely sure which of those he just awakened went to T2 from hard to awaken T1s vs which ones are freshly T3, if even any. - Sacrilege - Destruction - Evil - Eldritch Mind I know those 4 for sure. I feel like there was a 5th even before this but maybe im wrong. Did any of these new awakenings go to T3? And am I missing any current ones? None of the titles went to "destined God" so im thinking all T2s?

copperspike

ah, i thought i remember the having been a step before alien senses though... nooo i was thinking of alien thought structure or whatever the name was for one of the lower tier eldritch mind was called

Sergeandgreen

Well i called it. Condemnation and Realm access were the key. I'm curious about the alien sense skill. Will he get the perception that rivaled a t4 beeing or will it "just" be as powerful as dewdrops perception. Or will he have a t2 skill with the power of a t3? I mean, the skill should be levelable.

John Vistica

1.8 million Bens divided by 350 invasion points is about 5000 Bens per invasion point. That would be a pretty kick-ass defense perimeter. Can't remember how many exact invasion points there were.

John Vistica

As I stated elsewhere, the exact amount of time is unclear, but moving all of the physical Bens to the central location took time that can't move at brain-speed. So we can expect some 'normal' time to have passed for this chapter to happen.

Piotr

So... He will not be late for breakfast

funktorial

indeed, five T3s (sacrilege, evil, destruction, mind, soulcraft) and he's a contender for 10 (enchanting, crafting, material, actualization, actualization enh., soul, crafting affinity, intelligence enh., extraction enh., material sense) and has 16 other T2 skills

Mechanist Grimm

As someone else pointed out it is hilarious that he figured out how to "Ug Smash" his way between realities before he awakened his favorite core ability that he has dedicated himself to awakening. edit: I ofcourse mean awakened in the "raise it to 3rd tier" manner

Tomáš Blábol

I would love it if it was all of them, but probably only 1. After all, there was, still is, that god that got out of hell from that earlier gate, and as far as I know, he was/is singular.

Emily Gurnavage

No idea how I forgot about Connect/Soulcraft, thanks. So still "just" (lol) the 5. Those are some very impressive sounding T2s though. Ill call BS if at least one of those dont unlock new T3 jobs.

Redc05

What? But the 2° wave demons are already there, they don't keep streaming out of the gate.

Tomáš Blábol

That would be, at the same time, both extremely funny, and deeply dissapointing.

Tom Braider

Watch enchanting and crafting don't awaken till he uses Oaun as a crafting material

Kallisti _

Ben can just physically go to their realms and pull out his god-torturing knife for playtime!

John Vistica

1,864,592 overlapping souls in one Ben. Hopefully all of the other Bens got stored with their rings. Ben can now physically split himself as necessary to cover all of the invasion points. He recently learned how to slice blessings from a god's soul. I expect he won't pass up on that opportunity as he deals with the ten that sent him to hell. Not sure how applying a blessing to 1,864,592 overlapping souls will work though. Got to wait to find out. In theory Ben can kill off one of his Bens and it will ascend. That puts god-Ben among the gods now which should really freak the other gods out. God-Ben should then have accesses and capabilities that he does not have now such as being able to observe activities and read minds across the planet. Edit: I did a re-read and the chapter states that they were all sharing the same soul and mana pool.

Kallisti _

Imo, this should be Eneth's tombstone: Fucked Around Found Out

Tomáš Blábol

considering how many bodies he had, probably anywhere from 1 day to week, I guess? it's not like he gathered them 1 by 1, every one was actively going to each other, sooo, I think week at most.

Kallisti _

Part of what defines evil is whether Ben thinks it is evil. And there's no way he's going to feel that escaping hell is evil.

Titan Kios

Nothing, its just how much hell split him up

Titan Kios

Time for a hell training arc

Kallisti _

I'm pretty sure it won't be B since he essentially painted that room in his Sacrilege when he created it. Even Myriad had a hard time looking there.

Tomáš Blábol

imagine if he could use his new skill to reroute demon invasion points directly to hell, that would be hilarious.

bobby2dreki

Was wondering if he was about to become a god of hell (hades like) but nope, we don't even know if he found any falsely condemned souls.

TheLostGolem

Think he keeps all the extra bodies?

Michigo

I read is an "no gravity, that's mildly annoying". Nothing he was doing in hell required gravity, hence it wasn't enough of a priority. That and Ben doesn't give much of a damn about his body anyways, he is all brains no brawn.

Dustin Friend

Not to mention the fact that he uniquely had 1.8 million of his own mind to connect together so a few seconds would feel like an eternity.

Tomáš Blábol

does ProbablyATurnip have a discord? and if so, how can I join?

Zak Webb

I've been thinking about it, and its around his intelligence *4. It's been 20 chapters since his last status, and I'm not sure how long that is, but if he gained 600 intelligence since then it would be dead on.

Zak Webb

No, I don't think one of his bodies dying leads to him ascending; they all share the same soul. It's only when the soul is forced to move on that he'll become a god.

Mare Matthews

Re: Time Paradoxes: We still never got an answer from Turnip whether Thera observing Time Spirits in that one chapter was a mistake or not…… If it isn’t, then there’s a chance we already have a time paradox in the story and we just haven’t seen the inciting factor yet. 😵‍💫 (I still have a Crack Theory that a fragment of Ben is the “proto-god” that Nare used to make the System… 😈)

Mare Matthews

And we’ve seen other people convert to gods even when they have faith in their original god, Valeria provided a full pov of the experience when Anailia asked her to covert to Myriad in order to make passive-suppressing bracers.

Mare Matthews

Did we ever get any numbers for the size of the world? How many Bens at his current range of Connect does he need to create a full network? The ocean half of the world would be tricky, but the inhabitants there are definitely able to help…

Mare Matthews

Cackling and cracking - reality. 😈😈😈

Mare Matthews

“Ben, why is there a twenty story tower of glass comprised of only brains and fluid in our back yard?” “It qualifies as one of the things you don’t want details on.” “BEN….. 😓😓”

Mare Matthews

Once he confirms how he can use the abilities, he can bring the Grey’s PLANET over at some point and let them keep their home. Not at current power levels, of course, but you know he’ll get there.

Mare Matthews

How much experience does crafting reality earn? 😈

Mare Matthews

Tomato, tomahto in a sense, he linked up all his bodies in order to overlap his senses and super power all possible perceptions.

Mare Matthews

This reminds me of how I always want to describe how powerful Lina Inverse from Slayers is: “She’s so powerful, she can ALMOST cast a spell no else can!”

Matteo A

Maybe at tier 3 it will become universal/reality manipolation

Luboš Hemala

Honestly a bit surprised that Alien Sense didnt awaken to T3 or more.

TheLostGolem

That theory would explain why the Gods are unable to level up. They clearly need to be paying the system.

Matteo A

Do you think that he will integrate his new insight in his realm? As it is I suppose that he will kill the 20 gods, torture thei souls and steal their faith; the stolen faith will allow for his integrate divine body to transform making him either a "divine demonic human" or a "true devil", and then he will use the faith to craft a new minor layer of reality from his realm (maybe something like eldritch abyss).

Enxes

It wouldn't be the first time one of his tier 2 skills were as powerful as a tier 3 or beyond. Divine Enchanting was better than Falk's Soulsmithing before tier 3. And Planar Manipulation makes it seem like it'll be much more powerful than its tier would assume

Luboš Hemala

No, but would be hillarious how he would be explaining it to Thera.

Luboš Hemala

We are still waiting for Soul Expansion awakening right?

Luboš Hemala

I am stoked for him to craft some mythic item once he returns. After dealing with the trash of course.

Carl Mason

All his "godly" skills are now T2, Condemnation and Realm Access were only T1 as of the last status. 1075 or so, I didn't look. 1069.

Luboš Hemala

True, but that was soul only, possessing Naloth soon after. But I also expect 1.

Luboš Hemala

Yep, next time some space mage tries anything, he can just bump reality a scare it straight back.

Enxes

To be fair Ben has the god of destruction title helping him with Destruction authority leveling up. And destroying a layer of reality is a big step. I'm sure when he gets ahold of the 20 gods that did this to him his evil authority will level up to match

TheLostGolem

I think that got absorbed into soulcraft, didn't it?

TheLostGolem

Maybe he does both at the same time? The souls of gods would make great crafting materials probably...

Kevin1245

Yeah if the Evil Gods aren't killed/imprisioned in a soul crystal for training, then it would be the biggest dissapointment. They are so beyond useless its unreal and an unrealiable ally is worse then an enemy.

John Vistica

The way I am reading it is that every Ben is its own entity with its own soul. Ben can just overlap all of those souls in a single Ben. He can split off a fully functional Ben at will that is able to operate beyond his standard control range.

Zak Webb

I think Soul Expansion absorbed into Eternal Soul Protection, but he still needs to awaken Soul Enhancement.

Titan Kios

No soul expansion hasn't awakened yet, hes got soul regen and soul resilience awakened to one skill

Mootant

It would be really funny (and horrifying for everyone else) if ALL the bens came out instead of merging back into one. Just a large cities worth of one person

Jevil

John i think it was like 333

Mare Matthews

The other souls are, though: “Other souls, farther from him were also fractured beyond his range, letting him experience reality beyond his limits as well once he took over their unusable minds with his own…” So Ben’s range of Connect could reach other damned souls, who were fractured but still connected to their other “selves,” and Ben was able to experience the senses of all fractured copies of a soul despite how spread out they were.

Mare Matthews

This is a serious possibility, because Ouan is - potentially- limited in how he can traverse interstellar space. We know he was still using Oglit the Great Space Spirit, but was that to torture Oglit or was it because the Great Space Spirit - almost equal to a god in a pure domain - was better at it that Ouan? The more I think about it, I sadly am afraid that Ouan probably is still capable of opening portals to worlds he knows exists, so it will be just as hard to defend a reclaimed world as it would be the patchwork one.

Mare Matthews

Eneth’s tombstone will be in every communal church and every building-based church of Myriad. (as well as being inscribed into the Pillars of Truth the spirits erected for Thera) They will all be as valid as each other, because there will be NOTHING LEFT of Eneth to bury when Ben is done with him. 😈

Mare Matthews

Yeah, that was easy, he just had to hit reality hard enough to crack it! And I am being genuine there, as much of a monster as Ben was pre helldive that definitely tracks as “achievable.”

Mare Matthews

He did want to pace, but I’m guessing not enough to bother with a centrifugal set up. As for his concern over physical health matters, if he’d been stuck there long enough he could have tried. But would he have had to do it for every self, though? Or would he only have done a few and sacrificed the rest of the bodies? 🤷‍♀️

Mare Matthews

One of actual experimentation when Plan A didn’t work.

Mare Matthews

Technically he solved the Ather problem the first time by punching. With a knife. And the sandwich force fields. But definitely by punching a guy fatally! (accidentally, and he was healed, sadly… Ch 227)

Mare Matthews

The infinite hells aren’t really a divine thing in this reality like Hell is for Christianity, so I’m assuming everyone else will just be horrified and confused by Ben treating the realm as another personal playground, and not deeply offended. Right?

Mare Matthews

Planar Manipulation sounds like he’ll be able to mirror most Space Magic aspects at an equivalent level, as an -aspect- of the skill (as in, one skill, multiple use cases). So very much a perfect Ben skill to munchkin and treat like a new T3 no matter what it says on his card. 😈

Mare Matthews

Actually, going up to Ouan and opening a portal to the infinite hells around them both is a valid Step 1 to defeating the demon god. Assuming Ouan has never been into that realm before, the fracturing is almost certainly going to disorient Ouan as badly as it did Ben. And even if it only takes 10 seconds of real time to recover, that’s plenty for Ben to start the next steps.

Mare Matthews

With the fact Ben will likely be able to open wormholes with Planar Manipulation, he can instantly being a self next to each instance of Ouan (in addition to however many he stocks up down there in preparation), so the multiplying Ouan issue is a non issue, too, as long as Ben has a Soul-safe way to identify Ouan across the realm (maybe using a sacrificial self to Connect and see where every Ouan is?)

Mare Matthews

Yeah, the portals are something that exists but are closed, like a locked door. Ben almost certainly can destroy the “doors,” but that solves nothing. Ouan, being a god of every domain, can open up new ones just as easily as before, and it sends a message to Ouan that someone on the patchwork world is STRONG enough to do it.

Mare Matthews

He has more pressing matters at the moment. Now that he can portal out and Condemn or portal in, he can visit and do whatever he wants after the idiot gods are punished.

Mare Matthews

Actually, “using gods as crafting materials” sounds like a valid method of making a Mythical item. Too bad we don’t have any spare gods to volunteer body parts to use. 😂

Mare Matthews

Anyone here read Watchmen? If you have, you probably know the scene I’m thinking about…

J H

Actually holy shit, why didn't I ever think of this before?? Why didn't people on that planet?? I guess if the teleportation anchors got there in the first place they can be reestablished, but yeah, I imagine that best create and enchanter on the planet can disable or trap the anchors. Or go through the other way early to send some nice antimatter presents. It's never even been discussed or considered.

JC.Angel

Ben going to walk back into the church to find Sachel holding some funeral servises for Ben with every believer there crying and he will just come from the basement.

Carl Mason

IdolTrust, the grays are in another universe. His new skill Planar Manipulation may not be applicable to interuniversal travel. It might be, but honestly, that name doesn't sound like it would be.

Carl Mason

Why not just turn the clump of churches into a spinning station. Easy enough.

Carl Mason

Tier 2, last status is in 1069, if you want a refresh.

TheLostGolem

Actually, I think at least 10 just volunteered quite recently. They were very enthusiastic about it too.

Carl Mason

Exactly, Kallisti, and he did only punch open the plane enough to make a connection with his portal. So he WILL be headed to his basement first. Whether he then immediately goes on the war path or not is anyone's guess. My bet is check in with Myriad and Thera, find out what happened while he was gone and then make a scene. He is so good at making a scene.

Stell115

Need next chapter plezzzzzzzzzz.

Carl Mason

The unexpected pounding on the trap door to the basement because somebody put something over it moment.

Mare Matthews

1. We don’t know what Ben will plan now that he has Planar Manipulation, he hasn’t had the time to come up with plans because he’s probably focused on justified revenge.

Mare Matthews

2. Quoting Myriad after Ben sent the Antimatter bomb in the First Wave: “Even in any of our heydays, creating damage on that scale would be beyond us if we used everything we had, at least without the same sort of knowledge you currently possess.”

Mare Matthews

3. Ben was only capable of doing that by completely draining 700 Spirits of their mana (and partially draining 300 more). Even with the Church and Thera, he hasn’t been at that power level again until POSSIBLY now.

Mare Matthews

Good point, I was hoping Planar Manipulation would help the Grays, but we’ll need T3 for Dimension Manipulation I now think…

Mare Matthews

Reminds me of Discworld. “One of the more common causes of death in Ankh-Morpork, Suicide on Roundworld refers to the willful and premeditated taking of one's own life. However, the famous Morporkian literalism steps in to expand this definition until it includes not only self-initiated suicides but also those actions that are guaranteed beyond a doubt to result in another being killing the suicidal person in question. Should the Watch conclude that they are investigating a case of Suicide, (suicide with a capital S,) they will tend to wrap up the investigation swiftly and move on to something more important.” (quotes from the L Space wiki) https://wiki.lspace.org/Suicide

Nick

I thought when skills combined, he would get destined holder of the new skill; In this case, the destined holder of planar manipulation…? I’m happy to see that I was partially correct in assuming that condemnation would be used in some capacity. It just makes sense. But yeah, does someone already have planar manipulation or something, or am I just forgetting how it works…?

Nick

lol it’s suddenly a week before the third wave… idk would kind of suck. We still have his arc against the other god who escaped from hell that’s been gathering souls I think? I forget what he’s a god of. Anyways, a time skip of a couple days, seems fine if time moves that much faster in the mortal realm. He’s prolly only been down there under an hour TOPS, which I’m basing on how his mind thinks. Probably less than 10 minutes… we will have to see in a day and a half.

Nick

Yeah he crafted millions of things. I wonder if he’s just going to randomly awaken both crafting and enchanting by making a god killing dagger again?

Nick

That had to have left the wall for crafting and enchanting that is required to break through to reach the 3rd tier, the one that is made of ridiculously hard material, that takes millions of years for water to even make a dent in, basically papier-mâché. If that didn’t work, and it didn’t make him just one step away from a breakthrough, I doubt anything could penetrate all the way through and up to the top of the mountain that is “divine enchanting.” I really hope he gets it though! Seems well deserved, but since his soul is so resistant, (I think,) this is what was needed to almost break through. After all, the poor baby god they made into the system could only give him a level 1 crafting. I’m curious if he’s ever going to communicate with the system to figure out why, and see how powerful the system actually is now. In the end, luck is supposedly fake. Maybe the system had a reason. Analyzed him and thought he was the worlds best shot? Also, did all the Ben’s snap into one when one walked through, or did 1.8 mil Ben’s suddenly appear. Eneths worst nightmare!

Redc05

He could also just try to make some type of spacial lock around the planet.

Michigo

Better question: How many Bens got left behind in hell? Because if the answer is bigger than 0 => he will have a new permanent presence in yet another plane of existance.

Michigo

Very good point. We have already seen how much just a bit of divine essence boosts item quality, with Miriads first church aka Bens infinite-mana-cheese vest. If anyone is willing (and eager) to turn whole gods into crafting materials, it's Ben.

Luboš Hemala

I wonder if he will be hurt by the back to 3d translation. After all not sure how it will combine the materialized air he absorbed.

Enxes

Ben got level 1 crafting because his soul is so resistant to mana that it didn't get filled up like the other summons. Ben having level 1 crafting shows that he was a pretty decent artist back on earth considering he was only 18 and pre-system most people only get to level 2 of skills.

Enxes

It's off the tier 1 name of the skill. Ben was the destined holder of connect. Not of deep connection. Plus it probably makes Planar Manipulation more powerful since he has two destined skills going into it. Soulcraft had three with connect, mental symbiosis, and soul production.

Luboš Hemala

I was hoping he would collect all decent souls and create new believers for Myriad.

Luboš Hemala

Knock knock! Who's there? Ben there, done that.

Luboš Hemala

I am most curious about his soul knowledge increasing. He should be more equipped to create skills but also know better how affinities and resistances work. And then there is the system and its workings.

Alik9999

What would be dope is a time skip after the third wave where a few people who ben knew died and the gods felt the pain of having lost ben making his revenge on the gods seems useless.

Gale Emm

If there is a timeskip my guess would be it would only be a few months.

Skrublorde

Yep, it was 333; but now it's 332.

Skrublorde

It's time for Ben to construct the Sybil System 🤨

Tom Braider

Am I the only one who feels like this layer of reality isn't happenstance, but a designed prison. I wish we had gotten more chapters of exploring it.

Sergeandgreen

I think, at least from the sound of it, there is an important difference between space Magic and planar manipulation. I imagine it like a 2d area. Space magic allows you to teleport within this area as you will. This area would be the mortal plane. Planar manipulation allows you to jump between different 2d areas or connect them in some form or shape. Maybe he could even build portals between those planes. But he wouldn't be able to move within the same plane with planar manipulation.

Sergeandgreen

Also, t3 could be something like plane / reality creation, which allows ben to create new 2d areas he then can connect as he wants. If he awakens rule bender with it he could create universes with their own sets of rules connected by normal portals.

Andrew Goudie

The real reason Ben gets these titles is he's trolling himself.

Mare Matthews

@Luboš Hemala: Fairly certain Planar Manipulation will allow him to return once the pressing matters of revenge are dealt with. 😇

Markopolo

I have a feeling death will be preferable to whatever Ben is going to do to those gods, and that he'll be making an excellent example to the others up there of just how useful a resource a living deity can be

Drayko543

Right after Ben finishes his experiment with connecting via touch with the homonculus he thinks "Okay, next attempt then" then he brings in all his other instances "to see if a result found far earlier would scale." So the moving of his soul from one body to another via touch is entirely separate from the fractal nature of the infinite hells allowing him to overlap his soul with itself.

Emily Gurnavage

@Nick the rogue God was his planets God of Death/The End. That was why his siblings banished him to the Infinite Hells - Death is what he embodies and he cannot envision anything greater than death for long. They worked together at times, but he always went back to his death bringing, weather openly or behind their backs. His purpose is to bring death and he sees it no worse than mortals needing to breath or eat. He needs to bring death. I don't remember there being any balancing aspect to him, either, like where he would hold himself back if populations got too low. iirc he wanted to wipe all life from the planet that birthed him. His control over souls I do nooooot remember being mentioned in his flashback(s) though. He may have simply picked that up by spending countless eons as a conscious soul in a realm full of souls, though. Or maybe Gods from his reality can grow - we have heard of several types of Gods. And I thiiiiink he was banished while descended into the body of a mortal mage, perhaps the body had soul magic abilities.

Drayko543

The gods know about 2 different sources that are depopulating towns, one is the space demon, they other they assume is another demon contender but is most likely the evil god

Blackking👑

Got to be honest it feels like he spent like a less than an hour in there. If it was anything more than a day, I would be pretty disappointed.

Mare Matthews

The fact that planes aren’t one to one compared to each other allows for some equivalences to Space Magic, even if that’s true. Jump up physically from mortal realm to Ben’s divine realm. Orient the divine realm relative to the mortal realm. Drop down from the new “position.” For everyone else, this would likely be a significant time and perception cost that doesn’t allow it to appear like normal Space Magic. But for Ben, the castings and calculations are instantaneous in real time.

Mare Matthews

Also, if time paradoxes end up becoming a feature of this story (and the Time Spirits are a big smoking gun for that being possible), I have a crack theory that a fragment of Ben is the “protogod” that Nare used to make the System. Ben’s OG stats were what his soul was capable of at Summoning. Everything else is the fact that Ben is terrifyingly friendly and nice to alternate versions of himself. 😂

Sergeandgreen

That might work. Best example for this is that ben can enter the realms of any gods from anywhere in the mortal plane. But space magic is more than just teleportation. Its expanding space, bending it, shrinking it. Within a plane it should be much more versatile. Ben might "just" be able to emulate teleportation.

Michigo

Creating antimatter nukes like that doesn't need to happen within seconds, that stuff can be weaponized in advance. But we already know it's pointless right now, because Ouans perception spans a good chunk of the galaxy, nuking more demon worlds runs the risk of direct demon god intervention (= you are dead).

Michigo

Locking down space wouldn't work, because that's a type of wall that can be broken through by force. Something the demon god has plenty. A more promising idea would be a time lock, one designed to buy more time... the one thing Ben needs to break ALL the rules of scaling his own power.

Redc05

What if it is a sort of cloack instead, all the gods managed to escape and hide away from the demons, so they could probably be evaded again in some way. Besides, this all started because the demon god captured the space elementals, without them can he even invade other worlds? The current briges are active right now, but if all of them are destroid can they create new ones?

Jon Lomax

thats is a very good point. no really thought about that, was wondering how that god held it together.

Carl Mason

They each had a soul of their own, but they were pulling from the same mana pool. Which means the souls were not distinct and separate. So I would go with the theory presented by Zak. Killing one of The Ben Army would not lead to an ascension.

Carl Mason

It sounds like anywhere from one hour to several have passed (possibly more than a day, but unlikely) and given how Thera spent her afternoon, I think maybe he might make it to breakfast.

Carl Mason

With a name like Planar Manipulation, emphasis on manipulation, he should be able to do things with the plane itself, like crack it open to move to another. He should be able to shape it as well. I don't think it will be as simple as him getting straight spacial magic, but it should have more ability than simply moving between layers of existence. Again, especially as a manipulation skill.

John Vistica

I did a re-read and you are correct. It said they all shared the same soul and mana pool. My bad.

Kallisti _

@Michigo: Ben is at least a tiny bit brawn; after all, he punched his way out of hell!

Father Sin

Even funnier than revenge would be to forgive the attacking Gods (Thera has already whipped them like stubborn puppies that refuse to be house broken) and just ask them to focus on the fight against the Demons. He has to be feeling confident.
