As I mentioned a post or two back, I have some side projects, just for funsies, that I haven't seriously considered publishing until recently. It's sci-fi, it's super smutty, it's slice-of-life  fun and sexytimes instead of saving the world/city/someone's soul. I polled, you answered, so here it is.

ON SEVERAL CONDITIONS.

(Author stares warily at Patreon supporters)

FIRST: You have to be cool about this.

"Professional Vacation" revises a story previously published on Literotica. I made a new name years ago for some low-pressure fun. Even now, this is still a Work In Progress, and any eventual novel publication will probably be under a separate name from Elliott Kay. Please don't share this story around or list it on a wiki or anything like that. It may never go beyond this Patreon account, and I'm fine with that.

SECOND, and a bit more seriously: This is a story with sci-fi sexytimes, and some readers might not be comfortable or satisfied with the portrayal of consent. I don't want to set this up as a heavy issue; this is a light story, and everyone's consenting & intended as such. That said, sex and consent are complicated and sensitive topics in the real world. Some readers might not ever be comfortable with a light attitude toward that subject and I fully respect that.

All sexual activity here is between consenting adults and is intended to be read as such, even with the sci-fi premise. There's no dark plot twist coming here. :)

SO, if you're cool with that, please read and hopefully enjoy, and let me know what you think! I'm sharing more than I initially planned, because I wanted to give a sense of the story's direction; future installments will be only single chapters. And, again, your regular series content will also continue in the mix!

Ahh, so this is *your* story... I'm not surprised I guess, I had it bookmarked on Lit, but I look forward to reading it again.

Ian Moody

I _thought_ this could have been you. You mentioned before you had an alt name on Lit, and when I came across this story and that user's others it felt very you, I nearly messaged to ask. Glad I wasn't imagining it.

Joshua Day

I like it! This will be fun.

Christof Ley (Bradley)

Thought this was gonna be the Legal on Other Planets one. Do you have a second name you write under on Lit?

Tobias Hammeken Arboe

Well that was a delight to read and I'm looking very forward to more

1. I guess this means you're not going to go the romance writer route of very open pen names? 2. There is a lot of trope re-use here from your other stories. Gaining power through sex, sex in a dressing room, and consent through mind reading from Good Intentions. Anderson seems rather similar to Hauser (granted, it's A Type). The partnership with and superpowers from an otherworldly being like in the Evan Murphy stories. The gig economy and immediately being on the run, like in both the Evan Murphy stories and Hot Restart (I didn't notice that similarity between the two until now). Telepathy-enhanced sex from It's Legal on Other Planets. Kyle's name from both It's Legal on Other Planets and Hot Restart. (I really hope I'm not screwing up your creative processes here…) 3. The prose seems to lack a sense of polish or consistency at times. Nothing too bad, but there were some sequences that stuck out at me. 4. I think I get your concerns about conventional publishability, but I also think the story fits within the wild seedy undergrowth of sex stories that has always been found in back-alley stores, and now can be found serialised on Amazon or here on Patreon.

I only read the first chapter, but this seems fun so far! I'd happily read more of it.

I wish you hadn’t pulled it from litterotica, if only because I really want to read the next section. I guess I’ll have to wait, oh well!

Jacob Hufstader

As for consent stuff I think it worked. You made it very clear that it the powers don’t impact volition, rather it allows perfect understanding of wants and desires, it doesn’t manufacture them. From a writing perspective I thought it was good that we got in Rebecca’s head before Kyle appeared, so she wasn’t just some totally random person, and saw that she wasn’t hypnotized or anything like that.

Jacob Hufstader

I will say that it seems like Kyle is similar to Alex, but without the hangups, and that Alex could become more like Kyle over time when it comes to flings. That’s fine, great even, but if you do go down that route, I would make sure the partners give Enthusiastic verbal consent, rather then Enthusiastic telepathic consent, it’s a good rail to have to spell things out explicitly for the reader and avoid misunderstandings. Plus it can be really hot too.

Jacob Hufstader

But one of the reasons I really enjoy your work is that you manage to thread the needle with sex magic/powers, so that it’s hot, but not creepy. And you did that here.

Tim

More, please. 😊

A bit of a critical voice here. Not necessarily something to change right now, but something to be aware of and a possible start of a later troublesome pattern. Lets start with some quotes: "[Molly] didn’t care for the expectations her male partners carried or the priorities that drove them." (Natural Consequences) "I prefer more attention to women’s pleasure than this." (Lorelei, A Most Noble Quest) "The film works for you because it centers her pleasure, and that’s right where your attention should be." (Lorelei to Alex, Proper Focus) IMO these three quotes all decenter penetration from sexual enjoyment. The "orgasm gap" is real, but as I understand it is not really a gap between men and women, but between women who only have sex with men and women who have sex with women. But men are just as capable of giving women orgasms as men are, they just need to stop thinking with their dicks, or quit assuming they have a magic cock. Now, Alex most definitely has a magic cock, but he doesn't treat it as such. His focus is generally on pleasing his partner(s) first, not on penetrating them, and he is always ready to take their cues on what they enjoy, be it outside or during penetrative sex around the dick. Or Alex's cock is magic because he makes it so with his hands, tongue, and empathy. But so far this story seems to recenter the dick. Kyle's encounter with Rebecca is about 5 pages of fellatio, then a quick reference to cunnilingus, followed by 2 pages of penile-vaginal intercourse. His encounter with Emily gets 1,5 pages of fingering and cunnilingus, 2 pages of fellatio, and 2,5 pages of penile-vaginal intercourse. (All figures based on my epub reader specifics.) There is also the quote "she seemed to want his cock in his mouth even more than he", which is as good as any an example that Kyle also has a magick cock. Is this troublesome? I'd say not yet, but it might turn into the style of porn that Lorelei cares less about.
