I commented on the original video but then deleted it. It’s easy to make mistakes. We are all learning and growing. I know you’ve got good heart and I know your intentions are good 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Sending you hugs šŸ«‚ I myself am queer and didn’t feel uncomfortable or anything while watching the chapell video! But thank you for addressing the comments 🄰 love you!

the mother lake

i hope the tension surrounding her/that video doesn’t dissuade u guys from reacting to her in the future 🫶

Olivia

Oh I love you. Hope you’re both ok. šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤

I love hearing your honest take on artists and topics! It's important that your reactions never become fake and I have always loved that about your reactionsšŸ’–

Laila

Girls, I respect your opinions and reactions. I wouldn't want you to be fake or feel like you cannot express your true feelings about a song or an artist you are reacting to. You won't be able to please everyone, when expressing your true selves. I really appreciate you coming to talk it out. Love you both very much ā¤ļø

Jana Fuller

Your hearts and your intentions always shine through in my opinion! ā¤ļø

The truth is, everyone occasionally says things that might rub others the wrong way. However, *not* everyone has the integrity & strength of character to look inward and apologize to those whose feelings they may have hurt. In other words: well done, queens. ā¤ļø

We love you guys šŸ¤šŸ¤

I didn’t watch the video nor did I see the comments, but I appreciate you taking the time to clarify and address this. Love you both!

I didn’t finish watching that video thinking anything negative about your thoughts or thought processes. That being said both of you are very impressive solely by addressing things that upset some, thank you for your devotion to mutual respectā£ļø

farah abed

ladies you have nothing to be sorry for 😭😭😭😭 you’re both so incredibly open, warm and understanding and i personally seriously don’t think you said anything wrong or insulting, thank you for being youā¤ļø so grateful for everything you girls do

katie whomst

i love that you guys are able to listen, grow, and learn. i always think thats super important. as a queer woman i wasnt offended by anything you were saying but it was clear that it was an opportunity to learn more and you guys do that so well <3 hope that everyone understands that it's good to voice your feelings and opinions even if they are 'out of touch' because otherwise how will you be able to expand your mind. im glad you guys spoke on what you did in the video and i knew from the start that it would never be your intention to put down other women. i think you both are great and i love watching you

khushi04

self awareness is such a strong quality 🩷 love you girls

Tyler

I can't believe you're being made to feel you have to apologise for anything you said. You're allowed to have your own interpretation and opinion. People need to get a grip. Love you girls ā¤ļø

Guy Whiteman

šŸ„ŗā™„ļø sending you guys all the love!

Fahmeen

It’s really admirable and mature the way you guys approach these topics. Other creators could never. Most people just ignore things and hope everyone moves on. I hope you don’t stop sharing your honest opinions because sometimes those are just good ways to have conversation and for all of us to educate each other. Love you guyssss

EJ1989

It’s ok not to understand everything about an artist, I am part of said community and personally I don’t understand the Chappell Roan character, but that’s just me. I hope you girlies are doing ok ā¤ļø

Bobhog

I just want to say that I really appreciated the complexity and especially the vulnerability of questioning yourself in that video. I thought you were very honest in that video, and even though you perhaps don’t understand the drag persona or culture, I think the way you spoke about your preference were respectful. I just want to say I appreciate you and the critical thinking you had in that video. But love that people are open to teaching and opening doors. I hope others pain don’t cause too much pain in you <3 and that you can see yourself and not hurt people’s projections.

Fahmeen

Okay but it’s also just not cool to invalidate the opinions of marginalized communities like the lgbt. It’s actually great to have these discussions so people can learn

Anna

Please don't be put off talking about other artists and sharing your honest opinions as the positive impact you have on so many of us in my opinion outweighs any negative. I appreciate the people who shared their perspectives in the last vid which helps us all learn, not just you guys. I want to hear what you think and what chappel stans think and that can only happen with you creating these types of videos so I thank you for that and please keep doing what you're doing!! Love you guys xx

Sonya Payne

Look I truly love your reactions because you process your reaction so authentically, it is very refreshing to see a reactor who isn’t just ā€œWOWā€ all the time. Please keep being authentic in your reactions. Your reaction with Chapelle made me fathom why I felt a similar way and learnt so much from majority of the comments, it was a great lesson šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ§”

Deanna Smith

I appreciate and really respect that you guys are so good at taking feedback and really letting it sit with you. I know that watching the last video, I understood exactly where you guys were coming from with your initial reactions/opinions. That being said, I also understand that what I take from something and what someone else takes from it are completely different. Please just know we love and appreciate you both for all of the content and for your transparency. Make sure to give yourself some grace as well ā¤ļø

Tyler

People saying they don't support Chappel because she's a strong queer woman is an awful accusation. They didn't even say anything that would give off that at all. It just worries that me that in a world of censorship that these 2 can't feel they can express their own thoughts and opinions on things in fear of being judged or misconstrued

Renee aka ynotshsdow

I am a gay woman and love your reactions. I give people grace to have their own opinions knowing that they may not know things I know. Love our community here and love that you guys try to learn things about Chappell and branch out to give us reactions on other artists. Keep being you šŸ’™šŸ’™

We love you both queens! Just to add in onto the conversation Chapell just did an interview, I don’t know how recent it was, but she was talking about that moment at the VMA’s when she told the photographer to shut the fuck up and she was just basically talking about how crazy that the industry has let it go on for that far to disrespect women and I feel like maybe some of her interviews might be something that you could be interested in in looking at (either reaction wise or just off screen) just so you can get more of a glimpse of who she is outside of the persona that she displays in her performances! I’m not the hugest chapell fan so maybe some of the hard-core fans that are in this community can help out with which interviews are the best to watch but we all love you both so much and thank you so much for this conversation. This is why I love you guys as creators because you guys are so real in everything you do take care of yourselvesšŸ¤

jennie

In my opinion u guys spoke in a really great way in the first video and i don’t think you offended anyone , you guys always just speak ur truth in the most respectful way, i just think some people that don’t know you well just don’t get ur point and what u actually mean thats why they were upset, but i appreciate how you guys are very open to hear everyone.. and i hope they know you better and understand your point of view in the future Love u guys šŸ’Œ

becky

Sending lots of love your way - you’re both great ā¤ļø

sophie

i will never take it for granted that you guys share your opinions and first reaction with us ā¤ļø i personally wasnt offended with what u guys said in the last video but i think you guys are great for responding but just know that we love you!!!!

Chloe H

I’m so grateful and I feel so seen by your platform, content and approach because I fear we are in the depths of an era where people cannot collaboratively voice an unfinished thought. I’m an educator, and students are scared to answer questions in classrooms for fear of saying the wrong thing. Articulating our hypothetical fathomings is all part of navigating our likes, dislikes and articulations of who we are as people. We shouldn’t have to have the ā€˜perfect’ educated opinion on day 1 of experiencing something. I wish you did not have to, but would a short disclaimer at the start of reaction videos help to emphasise when you are experiencing an artist for the first time vs Taylor content which you have all the context for? A brief into where you discuss how well you know the artist’s background etc x

Phillipe

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and part of this community since day one, I won’t applaud you for educating yourselves on this topic. This is the bare minimum for every human being, and it’s not up to the ā€œminoritiesā€ to educate you. That being said, I WILL congratulate you for being so honest and open and vulnerable here and creating this space where we CAN make mistakes and learn from them. This is a GREAT apology video and you didn’t play around the bush. You actually took accountability, and said you’d try to be better. That’s all we should all hope for, and strive for. So thanks besties and please don’t let this ever stop you from being your true selves and speaking what comes to your mind in the video. Sometimes it won’t be right, sure. But no one is perfect and we can’t expect you to be either. Stay well and feel loved xx šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Andrea

Sometimes people choose to get offended instead of trying to see how someone (who’s obviously a good person like you guys) might not know the full picture or just have a different opinion than them. I just hope this doesn’t stop you from being yourselves and sharing your opinions… You fully know that you don’t need to translate yourselves/over explain yourselves with those who know your good intentions and heart (most of us). So PLEASE keep being yourselves, and people who choose to get offended instead of have a healthy conversation might just need to get over themselves šŸ’–

Cj

You guys are honestly the sweetest people and i’m so sorry these peoples comments upset you , i can tell how bad bonnie feels about this and it’s honestly so heartbreaking that people get triggered just over someone innocently not fully understanding something. some people in those comments were so mean when all that neeeded to happen was a some suggestions about ways to learn about the topic. i’m so sorry it felt like you had to walk on eggshells in this video , i hope you guys still continue to be your honest selves going forward , because i don’t think you meant anything by what u said and it was obvious that you were not hating on anything , even tho i can see why people were upset , i don’t feel that big of a reaction was needed. hope ur doing well šŸ’•

lou

a person being queer doesn't automatically mean that you have to like them, vibe with them or agree with everything they say or do. i mean let's be honest, even people in the community who quote on quote "understands" the art of drag, have drag queens who they just absolutely cannot stand. we have the tendency to express it in a much less mature and reflective way than you guys did. i'm so sorry that you were made to feel like this video was necessary, but as always absolutely adore the way you guys carry yourself. hope you guys are okay, sending hugs!

Adriann Pollmann Tuya

love the both of you! thank you for making this video and clarifying again and again that we are all welcome here. 🌈🩷 i appreciate it a lot

The Renn Domino Experiment

This is why I comment less on your videos. Sensitive people have lashed out at me, too. As a Patreon member, I am paying to get your reaction, NOT so you can tell me what I want to hear. I'm sorry you felt the need to apologize. You ladies responded to the criticism with grace, which shows your professionalism. I look forward to of your next reaction.

Reade Janssen-Gibson

I just feel that you actually didn’t need to apologise but I completely understand why you did because I’m a super anxious person and would want to apologise too. Your core fans love you and understood exactly what you meant in your last video even if you didn’t voice it how you truly wanted to, and the extreme assumptions and accusations towards you are unfortunately just a part of the platform and how popular you are now, but know that we all love you and I am almost positive majority of your core fans won’t have felt any negativity towards you. Hope you’re doing ok!!

kat

it would have been so so easy and honestly understandable to try and avoid this but u girls are so so so amazing to open the doors and even entertain this conversation! please continue to have your opinions and express them freely, and discuss why you feel that way rather than feeling like your opinions are wrong. maybe you lacked a few context points but that’s the point of a reaction to a new artist imo! ur not gonna know everything. take care of yourselves; the internet can be loud :) 🩷

Audrie

as someone from that community, i sometimes don’t resonate with her attitude and energy as well ! i completely understood what you guys meant! i’m glad you guys want to make things right with people that might’ve felt upset or hurt, but just know there’s plenty of us who didn’t feel that way at all from that video šŸ¤šŸ¤

Hannah Grace

Flumoxed that we are here again, here for chats n reacts. not chats n ' know everything about everything and everyones experience and will be perfect in every single way to not get anything wrong and then yelled at by one group at a time' sigh . Just wanted to send love, this video shows the true depth of your honesty and vulnerability on here & just know we don’t take that for granted! Thank you for all you put out, and your willingness to hear others! I personally thought you had nothing to apologise for, you are allowed to fathom an artist out loud while others already have - but you coming here to say all this just cements why you are the best creators! Don’t let this get you down, many of us know your process to understanding an artist & can see especially when you are not part of that artists community you are trying to learn & grow!šŸ’œ

DeeAnne Herron

So, are we going to go through this every single time you wonderful ladies do a reaction to an artist other than Taylor Swift?

Gabriela

As a woman who isn’t part of the LGBTQ+ community, I completely relate to you girls. As much as we could want to be involved, we won’t understand it all. Moments of people expecting you to understand it fully honestly discourage me from even wanting to talk about it in fear that I’ll get it wrong. I understand that Chappell Roan means a lot to this community but I love her music and even though I don’t understand the root of it all, I don’t think I need to, after all it’s just music, if I feel a deeper connection and want to research it then that’s up to me. I hope you girls aren’t feeling too bad ā¤ļø

Ghada Almarri

thats why I subscribed to Patreon, so listen to u two say whatever u want. I can't see what's upsetting about your reaction people have different opinions and different pov. I love u both and please keep it real and never change ur opinion or fake a reaction. you guys are my fav reactors ever because u always keep it real and I relate to ur reactions a lot! xx

Mia

ā€žpeople cannot collaboratively voice an unfinished thoughtā€œ ohhh you are so right. that’s 100% it. there is so much pressure to be constantly hyper-aware of everything that it almost leaves no room for the learning process.

Hannah

Thanks for taking the comments that were actually kind and informative about Chapell and drag to heart and learning from that. You don’t need to apologise for not resonating with someone even though you like their music. I think your own discussion in the video if that has to do with internalised misogyny or something else was interesting.

Samawi A

I love how you chose not to ignore this, but just to acknowledge it and be educated about it. This is the way that communities online should be and why this community is just so special!! A healthy conversation like this could help both sides to understand each other more. I love you girlies and we will always support you.ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Louise

you should watch her bbc1 interview and carpool karaoke! it’ll really help a lot i think

Samawi A

I hope that this also doesn’t stop you from being your true selves and put kind of a barrier because we all love you because it feels like we’re just hanging out with some friends because it just feels so real and we can see the real you. we all make mistakes ,we all can learn from them and I just hope this doesn’t affect things going forward. We love you girlie, and we can’t wait for what this year has in store for us.ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Adore you girls and am always inspired by your constant drive to be better and learn. I learn so much from you and this community so thank-you!!

Eric Chaney

As a gay mani feel 100% supported by the both of you. Much love.

Bria Bowen

I think the name ā€œpink pony clubā€ seeming light hearted could also stem from Spotify wrapped telling everyone they were a Pink Pilates Princess lol. Sad to see how harsh some of the comments were on the last video. I feel like anyone here on patreon subscribed because we love you and know your heart. There’s always room to learn but no reason for people to be mean on here. I agree we should just continue to have open and honest conversations. Love you girls! 🩷🩷🩷

Brittany Diamond

You guys are always respectful and genuinely curious, it seems strange for some people to expect you to venture into new territory but somehow still know everything about it. Nobody should be shamed or have to apologize for asking genuine questions and trying to understand an artist's context. The fact that you still took this opportunity to learn and grow shows how committed you are to respecting other people, artists, and art forms. The only suggestion I can even think of is to look up some context ahead of time so that you don't start with a blank slate. It helps immensely with my own reactions.

Eric Chaney

Right. Everyone needs to understand these are just your opinions and intent is everything. And y’all have never had bad Keep keeping it real everyone.

Mary šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

Oh my gosh I was scared you girls were ending chats and reacts when I saw the title ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ I thought you were really genuine in your viewpoints, I didn’t see maliciousness- but I’m not a member of the lgbtq+ folks and I can’t speak on how others felt from comments. I hope I didn’t make you feel badly in sharing my thoughts on her character - I also get nervous sharing opinions on things because I don’t want to hurt feelings or come across the wrong way. Bonny I really hope you don’t take the comments to heart saying you think horrible things - just because it’s opinion doesn’t mean it’s true. I think speaking about things so openly like this shows that you both are kind and wanting to curate a loving space. Thank you for doing your best ā™„ļø

William Robertson

Love you both so much. You are both inspirations and, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, you both create a loving safe space of joy, love (and Taylor Swift) . Always appreciate your constant authentic vulnerable reactions. Respect and love you both forever and always

helene

Thank you for this. What you said in the other video was not offensive, it was just uninformed. I think it's good that you reflected on that. To the straight people in the comments that are like ā€nooo you never said anything wrong in the first place, you have nothing to apologize forā€œ Please shut up <3

Prapti

We know your intent girlies. When you say something like that, it's obvious you mean no ill intent. You have created such a safe and welcoming community so obviously you mean no harm. I don't understand why people are reading between the lines and you feel the need to apologise.

kailamae

lots of love from a lesbian who has always felt supported and included by both of you. your reaction to chappell's album on youtube is lovely to watch as you both try and understand/explore the theme of discovering your sexuality that chappell is singing about. have always found that heartwarming and you talk about how important is it especially for young people today going through the same thing!! šŸ’—šŸ’—šŸ’—

Louise

this is how u be an ally! listening and being open to admitting when you've misspoke is such an incredible quality. I hope u both know that any comments left were purely constructive criticism and we all love u girls so much šŸ¤

paulina āļø

i don’t know how you do it, all of it. you’re trying to be yourself and you are always so respectful and honest and people so easily jump on you and then you feel you’ve done something wrong while you definitely did not. i would lose my mind.

izzy 🪷

Tbh as a queer girlie I love your guys' videos, and you've always been so sweet and welcoming. I didn't see anything wrong. I know you never mean any ill intent. You were literally just expressing an opinion which is totally fine! 😭 nobody should expect someone to know everything about everyone, that's crazy! People are insane. I watch your midwest princess reaction on loop sometimes bc it is so comforting to me to see straight girls be so sweet, and open and genuinely curious about the queer female experience. I just loved seeing it especially as this year I've been trying to come to terms with my own sexuality. I understand where you're coming from, we know you guys mean no offense. šŸ’–šŸ’– we love you & thank your for your continued support for the community ā¤ļø

Feride Eron

it' so strange some people in this community made you feel like this is something you needed to say sorry for. We know you. Everything you explained is obvious to someone who approaches your videos with the genuine good intentions, don't worry at all <3

Charlie

You guys are great and I fully respect this video. We know you didn't mean any ill intent. Love you guys and this community āœØļø

ClƔudia Cerqueira

Girls, you are amazing! There is nothing to be sorry about, we dont have to like all the same things or even understand it, the cultural concept can be incredible and still not resonate with you, and that is just life. Just keep the good vibes and profissionalism, please please please, dont be damned, cause you gave a damn what people say 🫶 šŸŒøšŸ’•

Amy

I actually really respected the vulnerability of including those clips about internalised misogyny because these are conversations that need to be had. It was clear you didn't have bad intentions but I also think people were valid in educating you (respectfully) in the comments. You handled this really well imo 🫶

Hannah

I don't think people in the comments should be downplaying how other people felt. If you're paying for something youre allowed to comment if something made you feel uncomfortable. It can be so jarring for straight people to be misunderstanding queer media. I personally appreciate the apology but I do think the girls have an unconscious bias to praising girls that are directly endorsed or affiliated with taylor though ..!

Sam

I always respect how accountable and willing to learn/grow you girls are. As a fellow straight person, I must admit I was also in the dark about a lot of what has been explained here about Chappell. It has been really helpful to read the explanations (and thanks to those commenters for providing the education and mental load). It has given me a totally new appreciation of Chappell’s art - which I knew was special, but didn’t fully understand just how special (and still have more to dive into). The world would be a much better place if everyone responded to feedback/criticism/call-ins in this way instead of doubling down and not listening to those minorities who feel hurt. And not to sound too ā€œelder millennialā€, but I think it is an important standard you are setting in this community where you most certainly are beloved role models. Keep spreading that infectious joy! šŸ’›

Taylah Louise

I knew watching that there was likely going to be backlash, and I didn’t read any of the comments. I think the education is warranted, but the criticism not so much. Great diplomacy and taking accountability but I hope you aren’t too upset by the negative feedback šŸ«¶šŸ¼

JA

Forever my comfort creators!! While it’s always great to be educated on things we don’t know much about, there’s always a way to do it. I hope you guys know that you’re doing SO well!!! It’s unrealistic to expect creators to know everything and there’s a way and a tone to educate people. I’m so sorry that the comment section on the Chappell video got the way it was but it is in no way a reflection of how most of your audience feels. We do not believe that you’re misogynistic!! If someone is paying the slightest bit of attention, they know how ridiculous that sounds. Thank you for continuing to put yourself out there, and I’m so so sorry people came for you in our little Patreon safe space. We love you šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Mollie

As a gay woman myself I truly believe music is personally interpreted in many different ways and that is okay. How I feel about certain music or music videos is different to how many others feel about it and that is normal. You guys shouldn’t have to apologise for your different opinions or interpretations of music šŸ¤

Mollie

I’m noticing some really crappy comments on this videos and it feels horrible to me reading it so I hope you both are doing okay. Sometimes things are said in the wrong way and that is okay, thank you both for the care x

Cheese King of Denmark

I really hope stuff like this doesn't scare you two amazing people away from reacting to other artists and music outside of the TSCU. Being able to experience something or someone and then immediately share what you think based on that is very vulnerable in and of itself, not to mention that it doesn't give a lot of room for additional context, learning and fathoming. I think we should all remember that these wonderful videos you make aren't some highly detailed video essays, written and prepared for days, weeks or months before hand. They're on the spot and based on what you see in the moment. That's a vital part of making them so enjoyable. And getting honest and true opinions and thoughts are a vital part of making them so enjoyable. We can't all love everything, nor can we all understand or relate to everything. While I'm sure many gave genuine, constructive criticism, feedback and points, it's clear that some have issues with delivering that in an appropriately kind way. You shouldn't need to feel the need to apologise for some things, though I deeply respect the fact that you have, especially in relation to the Pink Pony Club 'thing'. It's so clear that you two care and that you didn't and that you don't want LGBTQ+ people (like myself, I might add) to feel excluded, unseen or unwelcome in this community. Personally, I didn't in any way feel any of that in relation to the Tiny Desk reaction (or any other). In fact I think you two summed up quite a few things that I feel as well with Chappell.

Josh G

THIS! I am genuinely shocked and disappointed at the vile and horrible comments people within this community were throwing at the girls :/ All because they weren't fully educated on an artist they are reacting too or didn't fully resonate with??? HUHHH?? anyways love and respect you two girlies sm more than words can express and PLEASE don't ever change or be afraid to react to more artists other than Taylor because of this incident. We love you so much <3

Josh G

That's so true, Cheese King of Denmark.

Megan

I didn't watch the previous video so I wasn't aware of the comments made but it takes alot of integrity to humble yourself and apologise when you have hurt others. I'm pleased that I support people who have these qualities and I appreciate you both 😊 ā¤ļø

Leander

This is so respectful. CR is such a new vibe and bringing new conversations to the table in the pop industry. The attitude, boundaries and her projection is something we’ve never seen before so processing something unique and different, there’s always going to be apprehension. Also, you’re allowed to feel your feels. People taking offence probably also need to do a bit of work. Not everything is in insult or mean. You’re clearly reading the room with these things and we appreciate you speaking your truth šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Lefty

When it gets brought up that people are too easily offended nowadays…this is exactly what people are talking about. I watched that video, felt that you addressed some negative feelings respectfully and carefully, and I went away not thinking anything of it. To get backlash for not knowing everything inside and out is crazy. Even if there was something people feel you were ignorant of, it was obviously not born of hate or the want to be disrespectful. If we are to just never speak on things we aren’t completely informed on then…what the hell are we to talk about? I really hope this doesn’t change anything for you, I have always loved you guys and your content, you have struck me way more than any other reactors, I think you are so lovely and real.

Richard

This is rediculous. I have been a supporter since Folklore. You shouldn't have to make this video. Don't worry about those sensitive people. These days no one can say anything critical about anybody with being vilified for it. For me, I don't care for Chappell's music or the way she insults her own fans. I always say if you want to have a loyal fanbase like Taylor, maybe not berate or insult your own fans on stage. I have seen her do that. I have seen other young artists do this too. Like, Billie and Charlie xcx. They think it is edgy to do this but it is not. It is just comes across as being a jerk. For me, I always don't resonate to an artist who has to cover up their face when performing. I want to see their face. It is not about being in drag, she can do whatever she wants. I said the same thing about Sia and Lady Gaga, too. So, it is just my opinion and no one needs to agree with it. It supposed to be a free country but sometimes I feel it is not these days. Sorry for those people who did that to you. I still need some Kellyoke, though. Please.

Ashlee

love you both so much, i understand the importance of making a video such a this to further explain reasoning behind an opinion but you shouldnt be villianized because you didnt LOVE something that is So Elementary School šŸ˜‰

dee

this. all of this.

Jenna Laine

I do hope this doesn't cause you to filter your thoughts going forward in fear of backlash. I didn't agree with everything you said in the Chappell video but loved hearing your perspective and honest feelings. You were being very thoughtful and self-reflective and it's completely unreasonable to expect you to know and understand everything about these artists or different communities. We're all learning together here. :)

Jenny

yep!!!

Dani

Please don't apologies. We are all here because we love and appreciate your opinions and want to hear it! People are so sensitive these days it's unbelievable.. I hope you continue sharing your honest thoughts and not let these people influence you. It's crazy how people fight for being different and accepting others but don't accept when people have a different opinion then them.

ton

I’m really sorry but I’m not sure this is necessarily the way to go. I know you’re genuinely sorry but I kind of wish this was really just thanking people for the feedback rather than apologising. There is too much of a risk of… people being guarded in having open feedback in case you feel bad, you watching out for what and how you react to avoid negative opinions. We love and appreciate your genuine reactions, I think comments should be respectful but people should also be able to disagree. Not sure how we reach a middle ground but these videos should not be required or should be positive or not so apologetic if possible!

Kiki

The only thing that pisses me of are people begging you two to react to new artists, or really any artists other than Taylor, but then getting offended when you don't know the entire background/lore about them or don't feel the same connection with them as you have with Taylor... Or god forbid, don't like them or some songs as much

sleepless_dream (Lauren)

I haven't watched the video yet, I just want to say that I love you guys and your honesty even if we disagree. I never want any of my comments to seem rude or judgemental. I love Chappell's work and I'm just so thankful you guys react to her at all! The internet is a cruel place and people are harsh everywhere, unfortunately, but I hope you know that many of us don't think anyone, let alone the beautiful people you two are, deserve to be treated harshly for having and expressing differing opinions. You've grown such a successful and big community at this point that I'm sure there are bount to be some unnecessarily harsh things said. I don't want you to think it reflects th majority of your fans or the majority of Chappell's fans. At the end of the day, I personally will always enjoy you two reacting to non-taylor artists and giving your honest opinions. I love your work and I need you two to know how much I appreciate the community you've built here. The Patreon chat has helped a lot when I've felt lonely, and there's no one in my life that listens to Taylor so it's so refreshing to have someplace to discuss it all. thank you ! 🩷 also, plenty of people linked videos of interviews she's done out of drag that are more vulnerable and real especially the one she did with carpool karaoke with her parents was so beautiful and lovely so if you wanted to react to those to connect to her in that way, that's always an option. off or on camera of course. if you do I hope you enjoy šŸ’•

Marcelo Gouveia

I am here JUST for you guys and TS. No need to apologize

sleepless_dream (Lauren)

she's never insulted her own fans. not once. I've been following her way before she blew up. when she was doing TikTok lives all the time. it's irresponsible to continue to spread misinformation like this when it's blatantly not true. she's always been amazing with her fans. telling people not to stalk you & your family or sexually assault you in public, those people aren't "fans", they're disgusting and deserve to be called out. if Taylor had said the exact same thing in the exact same context you would be defending her.

Jessie Anderson

I don’t believe there was anything to apologise for. Great reaction video from you both x

sleepless_dream (Lauren)

there have always been and will always be overly sensitive people online and irl. that's the internet. that's life. nothing is new under the sun. it's just a sad fact of putting out content. Em and Bon are very sensitive to people's feelings and that's a good thing. being empathetic towards others is good. they always handle it with grace. 🩷

Kristee Adamson

No. No apologies. Jesus. U can't please everyone and it's not ur job to even try to. We want ur honest reaction and opinion and if someone doesn't agree with it than too fucking bad. U girlies r lovely. Don't pander to anyone

Madje āļø

This is completely thoughtful and valid. The conversations you had in that video are the exact types that we experience as individuals before we have a chance to fully comprehend an artist. Sometimes it is important to have those awkward and even wrong first impressions because you just simply don't know, and there's nothing wrong with that. I've been a silent viewer throughout the years and it's clear that you guys mean no ill-intent. The respect that you guys have for other artists is apparent, and that's all that we can ask for. Thank you for your vulnerability.

Thorunn

I think the conversation you started was very nuanced and you both made it very clear how it was your own opinions, impressions and wonderings which are absolutly valid to have! Keep it up girls, we know you're good hearted people 😊 hugs from France

Jessica Knox

No need to apologise the fuck

Eliza

Don’t apologise for having an opinion. You are both so open minded and make it your mission go make sure everyone feels included within this community. People aren’t always gonna be happy that people aren’t always gonna have the same opinions as them. Especially if they love ur content for loving TS, they may find it hard when you have a different opinion with other artists they love. You are both lovely people and we should all know that you are always inclusive and always open to different perspectives. Do not apologise for being an open minded and curious person with differing opinions.

Mayra

I don’t think you needed to apologize. Just a thank you for helping us understand this artist better whenever you do a next video. The apologizing causes even more discord than the first video did :/ . Even the negative comments on the first one were more about giving you information than criticizing you.

Val Flores

As a member of the queer community, I didn't feel there was anything to apologize for. You're reacting to something new. I don't expect you to know everything about it before hand. I can appreciate educating others but I'm sorry if other people made you guys feel that you had to apologize for not knowing what you don't know. Bonny, I promise, you did nothing wrong. You guys are vulnerable every time you react for us and I will always love and appreciate the way you open up for us. This is a safe space, not just for your fans, but also for you. Don't let anyone change that. Love you guys ā¤ļø

Kristina Key

I’m so confused by this because I’m queer and really enjoyed your reaction to chapell knowing you’re just giving your honest opinion about how you feel. Love you guys

SarašŸ‡øšŸ‡Ŗ

Love you guys and please keep staying honest and real and for others to keep having an open mind and for this community to help edcute each other because we all come from different places of the world and cultureā˜ŗļø hope we all keep spreading lessons with a sense of love and not criticism🄰

Courtney

You guys are humans and always learning! I constantly appreciate your ability to reflect and grow around new artists you're not as familiar with.

Lisa Lautzenheiser

We know you both care so deeply about everyone’s feelings and would never say anything to purposely hurt anyone. I love that you learned things from this and making this video will help others learn too ā¤ļø

Caroline Turner

Hey gals! You really did nothing wrong - I so honour your making this video and think you are amazing. I have a disability and I am someone who will come out and say if people can do better and we all always can in many ways but the criticism here felt unfounded here as you are always coming from a very kind place x

MarkH

I both hate it and I love it when you do this kind of apology. I hate it because I don't think you should have to apologize and I know it means that you were hurt yourself. There are so many of us here, you will never be able to please everyone. But I love the way you do not get defensive and take accountability. As you say, it is extremely vulnerable to talk in front of a camera and share it with the world, and then it is even more vulnerable to take a load of criticism without getting mad and lashing out in pain. But, forgive me for saying this since you did say it yourself, I do think you have more to learn about Chappell. Since you don't do research (for good reason), you probably have not seen the interviews where Chappell feels pretty comfortable with the interviewer. She obviously has no media training, so those interviews can be telling, I particularly like the Zane Lowe carpool karaoke and the the one that just came out with BBC One where she was named their "Sound of 2025". They are both pretty short; you could do one video where you react to both of them and then if it does not come out right, don't post it. I want you to see them more than I want the reaction video (though of course I do want the reaction video!). Note that I don't necessarily agree with Chappell about everything--I think she is still not fully taking into account the profit motive of the industry--but I think it is worth hearing what she says,

Adam

Your opinions are your opinions! Don’t be sorry for that. Your channel allows so many people to express and debate their opinions and is such a beautiful community. Love you girls xx

Katherine

People are wild. You guys are so fine. Anyone who's producing music for mass consumption is putting themselves out there to be understood and interpreted in manifold ways by whomever encounters their music, with whatever personal experience and context they bring to it. Can we learn from it and can it expand our knowledge and experience? Of course. But we shouldn't use other people's art to scold other people. You guys bring joy and lightness to everything you review. I'm sorry if people made you feel ignorant or belittled simply for enjoying some music.

Patty Minor

Ugh I’m sorry you felt you needed to apologize. Life is so difficult your reactions had become an escape from it. While I’ve followed you since the beginning over at YouTube and the beginning here times have changed and they are creeping into the comments section. I followed you for Taylor and boy wish this could just be Taylor and nothing else. Taylor like her concerts were all joy and happiness and a bonding experience and an escape from the crap that is life especially now in the US. Again sorry that you had to apologize and explain. People who have followed you since the beginning know both of your hearts and intentions.

Nicole

I wish you didn’t feel the need to apologize. šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤šŸ¤

Sam

I completely agree that you guys are two of the most open minded and nuanced reactors out there and I really appreciate your willingness to learn and grow. That being said, I really wish people wouldn’t jump in the comments to tell you not to apologise. You felt compelled to apologise for being insensitive and I for one appreciate your understanding and empathy. To the commenters: please consider whether it’s your place on this matter to tell the girls not to apologise for ā€œhaving an opinionā€ - sometimes it’s more than that, and it’s something that you haven’t considered. Love you two. Edit: I’m completely in agreement with some of the other comments that sometimes all you need to do is a bit of reflection and acknowledgment. Apparently apologising pisses some people off who shouldn’t even care, so maybe just mention that you read the comments and did some thinking about it. We appreciate it all the same.

Leah Rose

With all due respect to you ladies, I think it might be a good time to back pedal on other artists reactions and dedicate more energy to regular Taylor content. I am here for Taylor Swift related content. And as much as I really enjoy the other artist reactions, it’s now twice that a video has been made to apologize for having opinions about a completely different artist. I love your hearts and how sensitive you are to others, but I think until you both can feel confident in the authentic reactions you have to other artists, it’s best to stick with what you feel really good about. I won’t diss this video because I think it’s very graceful and vulnerable to open up the conversation. But it’s telling that I don’t see a single person on this video saying the kind of aggressive and rude stuff that was under your Chappell video. I think it would be good for yall to take a moment to recenter yourself. I want honest reactions. I want unapologetic reactions, I want unfiltered reactions. You provide that with Taylor but with other artists, I do worry for your mental health since you’ve felt the need to respond to comments multiple times. Please keep being you. Again, I applaud your vulnerability, but please don’t say sorry. You have nothing to be sorry for šŸ’š

Sam

There is no ā€˜pandering’ here, it’s being considerate. I don’t see how opening a dialogue about being uneducated and possibly hurting some people’s feelings is a bad thing.

majesticwestwick

I watch you guys for your honest reactions!! I hope you don’t feel the need to change that šŸ’œ

Emily Warfield

You don’t need to apologize just because you didn’t understand something at first. I appreciate you both so much, so kind of you to want to respond.

Nici Z.

Absolutely with you on that šŸ‘ā¤ļø

Jamie Ye

The ladies live in Australia. I don’t feel it’s necessary to ā€œeducateā€ them on how they should feel about all these sexual orientation, identity politics and cultural sensitivities. They put out honest and fun content like a fresh breath of air. Can we just appreciate how intelligent & creative they are? Can we stop trying to change their ways?

Kelsi Ford

it’s good to hear you welcome education or comments that offer a different lens. that’s how speak with my friends that i’m closest with! In an open dialogue. I hope y’all never feel like you’re walking on egg shells, you’re both doing amazing work and this channel is my comfort 🩵

Lively_Ash

I love that you guys are taking the time to learn & apologized where you feel it’s needed. I do believe before reacting to a new artist maybe do some research into the artist before going in blind & possibly misunderstanding. I highly recommend watching Chappell’s carpool interview with Zane Lowe & her parents. šŸ’›

Sophie

Love this ladies! I think it's so awesome that you've been branching out to other artists this month, what a perfect occasion before the Grammys! I love the exchange you've cultivated with us fans and patrons too šŸ’• Can't wait to see what you do next!

Sophie

Yes this! It's easy to have a knee jerk reaction when someone apologizes to tell them "you don't need to apologize" to make them feel comfortable, but making mistakes and reconciling is actually part of healthy communication, and one we should all get more comfortable with in society imo. It doesn't matter if you thought the girls didn't need to apologize, because they felt they had to, so they should, point blank. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

C

I didn’t watch the Chappell video because as a bisexual woman, you guys just aren’t the people I want to be getting Chappell content from. And that’s not a negative thing against you guys! I love watching your videos, you’re like a comfort show for me at this point lol. I totally understand how those people might have been feeling, but I also think there’s a bit of it that’s on the consumer to know what you’re watching. There are queer creators out there that will have the kind of reaction to Chappell that you’re hoping for. Expecting Bonny and Emily to fully fathom Chappell Roan is a little unfair in my opinion. That’s not to invalidate anyone’s feelings, because I totally get it! But I just choose not to watch their Chappell videos because I know they’re not gonna be for me. I don’t want Bonny and Emily to feel like they should avoid queer artists out of fear for saying the wrong thing, but I also think we as the people watching these videos should pick and choose the videos that we will enjoy watching. With love, Cali

L4urynking

The internet loves you. Keep killing it ladies šŸ’ž

Sophie

I strongly disagree. I think it's awesome that the girls are putting themselves out there, learning from their community, and apologizing when they feel they get it wrong. Apologies and mistakes aren't bad and terrible, they're just part of being human! And necessary for a healthy communication style. šŸ’•

K K

I feel like you were confident and authentic in your reaction video with the tiny desk with Chappell. You should be allowed to say you don’t love the standoffish shtick. People also don’t like Matty Healy’s shtick, but it’s a shtick, remember? I just wonder many people gave you angry comments for making faces about Matty Healy?

Ysabel Boquiren

I don’t get people . They’ll ask for these videos then give you sh*t if it’s not the reaction they expected. I appreciate you two for taking the time reacting and providing great content .

Richard

Here we go. I knew someone was going to twist my words. Why don't you be more literate and not jump to conclusions. I didn't say anything about stalking or sexual assault. I saw a video recently with different young artists like Chappell, Billie and Charli calling people out on stage embarrassing them. Stalking and sexual assault are different than that. Probably you are one of those people who were going after bonnie in that video. Maybe get off your high horse.

Momo

We love you šŸ«¶šŸ»

Amy Versprille

You have to do what feels right. Your reactions need to feel genuine and you do. It need to love everything and everyone.

Ashley

It should be normal to apologize to marginalized groups of ppl when you offend them— it’s a learning opportunity. They are smart girls who are doing the right thing here— stop commenting you don’t need to apologize

M

šŸ’–šŸ’–šŸ’– Love you girls, thank you for all that you do for us and for putting yourselves out there and being vulnerable (as you mentioned). I think the knee jerk reaction as fans a lot of the time is to want people to understand and have as much information and context about the said person as possible, but it can often come across as judgemental and condescending and turn people away when fans really just want to share their love and appreciation and have other people ā€œget itā€ too. I think if you both checked out Chappell’s rolling stone article or new carpool karaoke segment you might get more of what you’re looking for! But going back to what I said, the reality is not everyone is going to ā€œget it ā€œand not every artist is going to appeal to everyone and that’s totally okay, maybe Chappell isn’t one of those artists for you girls. I appreciate you both putting in the effort to react to things from new artists and understand how it opens you up to new fanbases and sometimes more negative or critical feedback. I hope this doesn’t detract you and that you continue to make the content you’d like to make!!

Andree

I didn't watch the video yet but just wanted to say love you guys - you are both such a joy. I hate the thought of comments giving you anxiety. It's great that you can apologize but also remember that you will never make everyone happy - so don't make yourself crazy trying to! (Don't be a pathological people pleaser!) I know that even if you make a mistake you both have kind hearts.

C

Thank you for this haha

nikki

Nothing but love for you two.

Ali ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

I appreciate the conversation here, and I think one of the great things about these girls is that they’re always open to hearing that they’ve made mistakes. I will also say that they’re 100% valid when they say that sometimes it is just a personality that doesn’t resonate. If some aspects of the character don’t resonate with them, that is okay. Part of creating and consuming art is the understanding that it is subjective. With that being said, there is always more learning to do and I feel lucky that these girls are open to learning

Richard

I would have them still react to other artists. I know this seems like a Taylor channel channel but Taylor is not in the name. It is Chats & Reacts period. Don't quit because of the haters. Expand their knowledge. I wanted them to react to Kelly Clarkson for a long time but people might think she is too old now to react to or something rediculous like that. She is sent to the elephant graveyard, I guess.

Deirdre

Thank you so much for the communication. Bonnie and Emily, you are such talented emotional communicators. Thanks again for all you do.

Lauren

Please don’t let overly sensitive people get y’all down. You said nothing wrong and simply voiced your opinions, which you are entitled to. You can’t please everyone. If they didn’t like the content, they could have stopped watching. You two are amazing and I hope you keep giving us content for a long time.

Jule

Love you guys šŸ«¶šŸ»

Brandon

Queer people and drag queens live and work in Australia. This isn’t a new concept to anyone who lives there, people were just providing context to Chappell and educating them on the history behind the inspirations Chappell pulls from. No one is telling Bonny and Emily how to feel or telling them to change. I actually really appreciated the way Bonny and Emily talked about internalized misogyny and how they recognized in the original video that this is probably why they feel this way, so I don’t think an apology was necessary but I really appreciated it, and I don’t think it’s wrong for people to have responses to a genuine conversation that Bonny and Emily were starting, especially about an artist they did not know the full history behind.

Leah Rose

Of course I don't think apologies and mistakes are terrible. It's good to be self-aware and I think their vulnerability and gracefulness with this video is definitely a good thing. But I strongly feel the apologies are starting to set a precedent that's not ideal. There's a reason why the majority of the comments on the Chappell video and this video are people being confused and showing support, people from all kinds of communities. It's because their reaction was authentic and was nothing to apologize for. The comments that were rude and aggressive were some of the ones Bonny and Em responded to and one of those comments was by someone who had no intention of wanting to be understanding of Bonny and Em and wanted to criticize and hurt them. We should not cater to that kind of behavior. Bonny and Em cannot keep their reactions authentic if they do a bunch of research before hand so of course they are going to miss context that we as the viewer might have. What's frustrating is that people ask for them to react to other artists, and then they get angry when they have a reaction they don't agree with. That's not okay. It's that kind of behavior that sparked them to apologize for having an honest opinion and reaction about Olivia Rodrigo and now with Chappell Roan. There is a trend happening and I personally don't think it's a good one. But of course I do think at the end of the day it is better to show understanding and grace than it is to dismiss people's feelings completely!

Shawn carni

I didn’t watch the video because I’m not a CRoan fan BUT I just wanted to say I love you guys and I hate that you felt you needed to apologize. This is supposed to be your authentic reaction and people need to respect that. You both do a fabulous job and are always so inclusive and respectful. Keep doing you 🫶

Mytears83

I love everything you put out and you have helped me immensely in my swiftiedom. Don’t mind the haters.

Katrina Albert

ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Lu

Is it just me or were Bonny and Emily already being very reflective, intelligent, articulate and nuanced in the original video? I found the whole conversation about checking in with our own potential internalised misogyny really insightful. I appreciate the extra video though to validate people's responses and share their learning.

Jen Mays

I think that, because of how thoroughly you understand and explain Taylor's music, there is a tendency for people to forget what it's like to be new to something when watching your content---they enter it with a level of expectation about your reactions and lose sight of the fact that you can do that with Taylor's music only because you've been literally discussing it and listening to it for years. You deserve the same grace in learning as you give to others who come to your channel assuming Taylor Swift is a bubblegum pop princess because all they know of her is Shake It Off.

Samantha

As someone that really enjoys your reactions to all artists I have to say I find it a little frustrating that people don’t seem to give you much grace when you don’t 100% faun over their favourite artist or know their entire back story. It’s happened a couple of times now and you guys handle it so much better than I would!

Brooke

So much love for you both. You have always been very well spoken and willing to explore your opinions, emotions, and thoughts live with us. I didn’t find the first video to be offensive or warranting an apology. You have the wisdom to stop and consider why you’re feeling or reacting in a certain way, which many people are not capable of doing. Sending love!

Madeline

Appreciate you guys including that the context of other Chappell ā€œmediaā€ has also help form an opinion on her. I believe anyone from any community should be treated as an individual which also means allowing or accepting criticism, not avoiding that simply because they’re in a specific group. I totally agreed with what you were saying so I didn’t think much of it.

Stephanie Marie

They are entitled to their opinion!! I subscribed to this channel because of their raw realness. I hate that they have to watch what they say so peoples feelings don't get hurt or someone doesn't like something they say or don't agree with on THEIR channel. It takes away from the authenticity of it. Isn't the whole reason for this channel is so they could be themselves without, hate, judgement or criticism?

Laura M

At the end of the day what I find most important is realizing those moments when you might have made a mistake and taking those moments to learn. I know some people feel very defensive for you and don’t want you to ever feel you have to make these kinds of videos, but I do love that you all choose to make this video. It’s always a choice and I think its important that this is a space where we can learn and grow ā¤ļø

Jinx

ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø love you guys. Also I’m very impressed how well spoken and eloquent you are in situations like these! I love fathoming new artists with you and hope you stay vulnerable enough to do that with us. Because for me, your videos are my absolute safe space ā¤ļø

Gabi

I think it’s cool that you’re taking the time to understand Chappell, and that’s what’s been so special to me about her art going more mainstream—seeing people who don’t relate to her experiences try to understand her. Especially in the times we’re living through, it’s very important for us all to be open to these conversations. Much love.

Nathalia

I honestly don’t feel like you need to apologize! You guys are so open minded to learning more and developing your thoughts and opinions, this was just one video of Chappel! You guys are entitled to your opinion. There’s so much more to learn about Chappel Roan and her act, and Kayleigh Rose as a person. Also it’s a really weird time right now for us Americans with the recovering from the wildfires and then the inauguration just passed so I think that could also be reflected in some of the comments you guys have read as well. Love you guysā¤ļø

Nancy

As always, so grateful for you keeping this space an open conversation. But I also don't want you to feel like you have to stop being so open and honest in videos. Seeing you two reflect in real time is what makes this space such a special corner of the internet with so much positivity.

K

Don’t feel bad please! I am here for your honest opinions and I really do not think you ever are disrespectful. Of course you cannot know the context to everything which is completely ok which might upset people in situations where they know the context or feel strongly about something

Renee S Smith

Its crazy. You tell people you don't know alot about other artists but they want you to react, so you do. And then they're mad bc you don't know about other artists.

šŸ’Æ

People are being too sensitive. Saying it. We are paying for YOUR views. I love the un-filtered view you both have. Appreciate you both.

Rebecca Ryan

Be true to yourself!! You’re here to give honest reactions, not make overly sensitive happy. If you cater to the very small number of people who demand you say what they want, you’ll lose the majority of us who realize that everyone has an opinion and that’s okay. Keep sharing your REAL opinion and reaction!! If you like everything, it’s not genuine and not worth watching.

Rebecca Ryan

Those who are intolerant and demand people think what they think are very loud, but very few. Keep keeping it real!

Kat M šŸ’œāœØ

Echoing the other sentiments in these comments - you both handled this like champs, addressing feedback from the previous video head on and elaborating further on your perspective šŸ‘šŸ¼ So I hope you don’t hold onto any further anxiety moving forward esp. Bon as you’ve clarified your intentions fully and it came across really well that your hearts are always in the right place!! I really hope to continue seeing your honest reactions and that you don’t feel the need to censor yourselves in response, but rather the conversation continues to be a two way street in the comments too and we all continue to educate each other by consuming your SUPERIOR content šŸ’œ Thank you both for being YOU - that’s why we’re here in this corner of the internet and can’t wait to watch what’s next!! 😁🄰

Mequet

Not to distract from the point of this video but I thought y’all were either going to say sorry to us in America for having to have Trump as President again or that y’all were going to apologize for saying Sydney has the best beaches when all those poop balls are landing on the shore now šŸ˜‚

Alfred Chng

This is the reason why swifties are toxic šŸ˜‚ the fact that they defend each other so much is soooo toxic. Im so disappointed at how this fandom has become. If these girls were to react to Taylor and say that "she does not have empathy" or simply say they do not get her lyrics because it was not for her you guys wld feel like they shld do their homework and try to understand who taylor is and what she is all about. Same thing with Chappell, true they do not have to apologise but the fact that you keep defending these girls only make you guys more hateful and ignorant to other fandoms because you guys simply just worship taylor so much that in your eyes she can do no wrong. Rlly such a toxic fanbase šŸ˜’

Julia Fisher

Your willingness to be open and learn new things in real time is so inspiring to me! Love you both so much!!

Erika B

I’m sorry you felt the need to apologize for your opinions, as you said you are reacting for the first time and you shouldn’t be expected to understand all the nuances! This channel has always felt like a safe place to be and you both have the same freedom to express your opinions as we do in the comments! Thank you for your own vulnerability in your honest reactions and sharing, I find myself relating to you both so much more in the raw reaction videos because of your openness and it forcing me to form my own opinions, so thank you both for creating a platform where we can react and process together

WandašŸ–¤

i love your guys’ honesty and ability to reflect! we LOVE your honest opinions. i love that we have this space to have open discussions (except some of yall in the comments need to relax) i am so sorry you guys probably felt so attacked. its CHATS and reacts so we gonna have some chats . and i just love how graceful you guys have been . we know you guys come from a place of love!! we love you!

Richard

Not me. I am not toxic. Bonny and Emily can react to anyone they want. The person I responded before is toxic. They put words in my mouth with stalking and sexual assault. Those things are horrible. I don't like when some young artists embarras some fans in the crowd for not doing what they want them to do. They just want to look edgy. But they are just a bad role model to their fans.

Cooler Fan

Never apologise for what you both say. We all have independent thoughts and feelings and are not in a hive mind. The ā€œcriticismā€ is plain silly, and it’s enough. You both did no wrong whatsoever.

Amanda Saul

Love you beautiful chickens so much! This should also be your safe space as well to authentically be you and react how you feel. You really are the best and we are so grateful that you make content so consistently and always appreciate your honesty and vulnerability. Can’t wait for the next video! 🫶

Hate to be a bother, BUT I did Not find your reaction to TD to be anything but superb in its ability to be vulnerable and articulate you not fully *ahem Fathoming Chappell’s POV and am only really here to say I hope this apology video doesn’t interrupt the video you mentioned you would be posting…. LOVE YOU LOTS BIG HUGS FROM NASHVILLE! By the way, we love a great drag show around here! Catch you at Play!

I really appreciate this video! It’s important to learn and grow together and that’s what is great about this community I saw a clip of this interview that if you’re interested in watching even if not to react might be informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEhSOz0VoqQ

Look, we’re all just trying our best, and its not possible to please everyone all the time, and even trying to is exhausting. It’s very clear that you guys never intend to make anyone feel offended or unwelcome, and that comes across in all your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing, which is creating honest, thoughtful and fun videos. It’s not fair to scrutinise people every time our opinion doesn’t align with theirs. Love you guysšŸ’—

Mex

please, let's not start asking the girls to not react to anyone but taylor. they have created a way to make a living doing something they love, and a part of that is creating content that allows their channel to grow and draw in new viewership. they genuinely love music and appreciate talent even when someone doesn't resonate with them as much as other artists do. i want chats and reacts to exist for as long as they want to make content for us, and we need to allow them to grow. our role here is to consume content, support the girls, and hopefully provide context and information that can help them understand songs or artist better for whom we have more knowledge or insight. they always approach us with love, and we can and should afford them the same intention and grace. love bon and em and this community so much

Mex

oh, and i love the new stuff on the wall in the background. i always notice and appreciate the new additions

Jennifer Rudolph

Hi, I’m queer and from California and nothing you said during the TD video was offensive. This performance didn’t resonate with me, yet I can still enjoy listening to Chappell’s music. I really liked her Grammy performance but not this and that’s ok. It’s ok to have opinions, some people here need to chill a little.

Maggie May

Most creators wouldn’t even address stuff like this so hats off to you guys for being so understanding and able to reflect on it! šŸ«¶šŸ’— we may have different opinions but I actually enjoyed your guys reaction to Chappell, I would prefer you guys genuinely react instead of trying to please everyone

Aaron B

I'm really sorry you two received such unnecessarily mean feedback, it is completely unwarranted. Nothing you said about Chappell was bad, and you're totally allowed to feel how you feel about different artists and give your praises and criticisms however you'd like. You're both wonderful! šŸ’œšŸ’œ

Sam

Love you both!!!! You guys are just the best we are lucky to have you🩷🩷 i think all of your fathomings are so wonderful!

Daniela

You are entitled to your own opinions!!!! And IMO you guys didn’t say anything wrong in the first place. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Marla Lee

Hello beautiful ladies, I have no idea why you are apologizing for because I didn’t watch that particular video reaction because I am not interested in Chappell’s music. I don’t watch all your videos, only the ones that interest me and that’s ok. Unfortunately, you can’t make everyone happy and you are bound to offend someone else again!!! Then all your videos will be ā€œapology videos ā€œ, what’s the fun in that??? I hope we are done in living in the ā€œ cancelled cultureā€, we are all adults, with the freedom to express our opinions and views without being afraid to express them for fear of repercussions!!! Let’s be done with that. That’s not what this platform is all about!!!! I love you beautiful girlies and love your content. I for one, am not going anywhere, regardless of what you say!!!!āœŠšŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ„°

Opalite

You have the right to say what you think even if people have other thoughts, that's what musical criticism is all about! In the United States we have a serious problem with people trolling other people to try to get a response, and then they tell on you if you respond to their trolling. You're best to just ignore the trolls. It's like we have the adult baby personality here now, it's weird. Troll troll troll, all day every day...

Maggie

I appreciate you taking the time to address this, ladies. With the political climate over here in America, it does the heart good to see people being open to criticism and choosing empathy for people they can't wholly relate to instead of anger or spite. For my part, as a gay man, I think your comments on the video in question were just fine. Obviously not my place to speak for all queer people and/or women, but you both have demonstrated time and again that you're supportive of LGBTQ people. Intent, to me, is more important than semantics: you're clearly respectful and appreciative of Chappell even when parts of her artistry don't speak to you. And yes, that may be in part because of your lack of knowledge/experience, but even if you were more familiar with drag and her life, it would still be perfectly acceptable to not relate or like everything she does. Internet culture pushes us into the extremes these days: you must 100% hate or love anything you consume, and you must have a passionate opinion about everything all of the time, because everything is everyone's business now. We need to give people space to express nuance and, maybe more importantly, not be completely correct at first blush. People require patience and understanding to grow and learn. I understand that some are going to be very protective of Chappell because of how important her music is to them, but I hope we can recognize that you always mean well. I follow you ladies not because I'm the world's biggest Taylor fan, but because I love your passion for music and your ability to talk about it so thoughtfully. I hope the feedback you've gotten recently on other artists (Chappell, Olivia) doesn't put you off from continuing to explore new sounds!

olivia

hey! you both are 100% entitled to your own opinions, and when i watched the chappell video i never felt you were coming from a place of malice - only from a place of uneducation (which feels like a strong word but i don't mean it to be lol). i'm a lesbian and connect very strongly with chappell's drag persona, music, and really admire how she says her mind and sets her boundaries in an industry and society that would demand otherwise. however, i would never expect people outside of the queer community to understand and connect in the same way because you don't need to! i think it's okay for us queer viewers to feel misunderstood and seek to educate (kindly, of course) by some of the things you said, and i really appreciate you both for actually listening and taking it to heart. i actually *really* enjoyed the conversation you had in the original video about whether your feelings were a personality difference or internalised misogyny - it was SO self aware and introspective, and i felt it was really mature of you both to have that reflection especially in the moment. anyway, i hope the constructive criticism and pointers weren't overshadowed by any nastier comments - for me & others, it comes from a place of respect for you both and knowing that you would *want* to know the context behind a lot of what chappell does!! i also want to say that knowing the context doesn't mean you *have* to now love her and everything she does, because you still have your own opinions. what we want is for people to have all the info before they come to those conclusions! <3

DemiMariešŸ¤šŸ–¤

You ladies are absolutely amazing and are allowed to feel the way you feel. You always are respectful and honest with what you react too. One of the reasons why I even found you ladies to begin with. Just wanted to send some love and appreciation for all you do. šŸ’—šŸ«¶šŸ»

olivia

this is a great way of putting it! one of the dangers of parasocial relationships is the over defensiveness and the stance that 'my faves can do no wrong.' we all do wrong! what's important is what we then do after the fact

Jade

You have such pure kind sincere hearts thank you for being you xx

LindseyMarie

You two are seriously the best people and content creators out there. Please keep being your wonderful, genuine, authentic, perfectly imperfect selves. So many of us love you and your content so, so much and we desperately need the positive escape into fathoming music with you. I’m sure you’re aware, but fear and tension in the US is so heavy right now, I can’t open any social media without immediately crying and feeling sick, I imagine many US patrons may feel more triggered than normal right now and that’s so understandable and also not your fault.

Annie

I have seen a few comments about you coming off as like "overly critical", but the comments that they are leaving are overly critical on you guys...I love that you are honest even if I disagree or it annoys me or whatever at times lol. I never want you to lose your sincerity because it's why we stick around. You don't have to like things, and I dont think people should weaponise that. Btw, I totally agreed with your points, maybe its an age thing since we're all about the same age.. ANYWAYS love you girlies.

Laura

You two are the best, serving up the most joyful content I have in my life right now online. So THANK YOU. Your love and care shows through each video and we feel it.

ton

Thanks so much for reframing the title! 🫶

justine

you guys handled this so well, but know that there will be artists that you might misinterpret, misspeak, or not have full context behind like in this situation and we all forget that we digest art differently. chappell is so closely connected to queer and drag culture that i totally understand how people might’ve felt especially when she has helped so many queer people through her music and character, but never apologize for interpreting art a certain way. we know you both come from such a place of love always šŸ«¶šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Alexia šŸ«¶šŸ»

This was very mature and kind of you to add this additional insight for those who didn’t understand what you may not have understood. I hope their comments don’t deter you from any of her music in the future. I love hearing different comments on her music, it’s so insightful. Us as viewers need to understand first reactions sometimes look like thisšŸ«¶šŸ» and that’s okay!

Curt Decker

Gay guy here — I love you two ladies!!

Amanda C

True reactions are better than fake ones and you should never feel worried to speak your feelings or be overly concerns for future reactions. Understanding goes both ways. You both are great!

Lisa

I'm glad that there were people in the last video's comments who were able to give you CONSTRUCTIVE and KIND feedback and that you two were able to be open to that. I think we should all try to remember that not every reactor/person will resonate with the same things as we are. That's completely fine! Personally, I enjoy wondering at the beginning of a video whether or not you are going to like it. So, please keep reacting to new artists and giving us the privilege of seeing your genuine reaction!

Stevie

I like the new more neutral title. It reflects your open attitude to accept and embrace criticism without tendencies of self-humiliation. Your basic approach to new stuff is guided by respectful curiosity, spontaneity, empathy and honesty. The main reason I follow B&E are their thoughtful fathomings of Taylor’s art. But I hope they will continue to dive into new territories and react to other artists. I love to explore together with our Aussie ladies šŸ˜ŽāœŒšŸ»

Lefty

Emily, Bonny - plenty has been said at this point in the comments, so just I want you to know, to realise how loved you are. You guys really are a safe space, and the past two years of the Eras Tour with surprise song videos has been an immensely comfortable space for so many of us. It probably really is the aspect of the tour that I will miss the most.

Tabitha Lorelai

Love you cuti gal gal's I love you and your insights.

Abigail Collins

Thank you guys for always being so open to hearing and fathoming our opinions and criticisms. Everything happening in America has been really hard the past few months for a lot of us, me included. It seems clear that specifically women and the lgbtq+ community are under attack. I’m thankful to have this community and truly view it as a safe space. Thank you for always responding with care and I hope you guys know how much we appreciate you. ā¤ļø

Abigail Collins

Also, plz don’t let this discourage you from reacting to new artists or to Chappell more in the future. While I agree that some of the comments on the Tiny Desk video were ignorant, plz don’t feel like you guys can’t dislike something an artist does or can’t share a negative opinion!! Criticism is important for an artist just like it’s important for all forms of media. Otherwise no one would grow! Okay, I’m done now lol. Sending love

Karen Valentino

You two are the best! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Grace

I am forever grateful for the open communication and maturity with which you both handle things like this. I think the vast majority of this community understands that the two of you never have bad intentions and you’re learning as you go, just like the rest of us. As much as we all want to feel like we are informed, we always do have things to learn and ways to grow. Your humility and kindness is evident and despite not always agreeing with some things you say, I’ve never questioned your character. Thank you both for making this community a safe space ā¤ļø

Karen Valentino

Have to add I 100% respect you going in without prior knowledge to listen to an unfamiliar artist, and to please continue doing it. I am straight (and not young!) and don’t have friends turning me on to new music. I knew nothing about Chappell until I saw Rise and Fall covered by another reactor. I became a big fan, and was delighted to watch you react to her tiny desk. I have the luxury of being able to stealth satisfy my curiosity while not displaying my ignorance - you women are courageous in taking on new artists in front of all of us and sharing your honest response. Please keep it up!

Sarah

Lol same!! When I saw the "we are so sorry" notification I thought it was going to be abt the US inauguration lol

Jenny MacRunnel

So I'm just going to say this, and I'll try to do it respectfully and hopefully no one will be mad at me! Em & Bonny--you two are lovely, no complaints with you at all, and thank you for apologizing and clarifying things. I am honestly wondering if you guys should react to anything but your stan artists at this point. I would love it if you keep doing what you're doing...but I think people forget that you STAN Taylor, not all these other artists. I think they get used to content that is probably 95 % bubbly, happy, excited, etc. You do sometimes have a few criticisms for Taylor, but they are few and far between. So, I think people just expect you to be that way all the time. And you are not going to be, even if you like the artist (like in this case) because Chappell's not your stan artist. Same thing that happened with the Olivia video, you had some criticisms on the show itself, but you had nothing but lovely things to say about the music and Olivia's talent. And people got all upset about that as well. So, is the solution just sticking more to what you know and love? Because I don't think some viewers get the nuances here. Its fine to leave supportive comments with education or opinions, quite another to claim Bonny is a "deep misogynist and doesn't respect gay rights"...are you kidding me? I wouldn't be so worried if this wasn't on Patreon, on YouTube I would understand the comments (some frightful people on there) Anyways, just my 2 cents, I love you both, I love the majority of the people in this wonderful community, and I support you in what you decide to do.

Ally ā¤ļø

I wonder if that video was posted to YouTube more broadly or just here on the Patreon. I mean if this community is the testing ground, then it should be as safe a space for you as it is for us. I’m sorry there was backlash. šŸ˜” I had already watched the Tiny Desk and so I skipped it.

Breezy Bumbles

I would be absolutely terrified of putting myself out there in videos because I guarantee that I would say something wrong or stupid or misinformed. Probably every single day! So after watching hundreds of videos of you two, I know what kind of people you are and what you stand for. I’m also grateful that you are brave enough to share your thoughts and reactions with us because for some of us, this is the only place where we can communicate with people who actually understand our passion for music. I don’t have anyone in my life who gets me. And I am so unbelievably grateful that I found you when I am going through the worst time of my life. For real. You mean the world to me. I’m sorry if I sound like a deranged weirdo…..

August

Omfg I would love a reaction to Chappell Roan interview with BBC radio 1 that came out a day ago! It’s such an easy watch to know more about her and what she’s all about with her ā€œcharacterā€ that is Chappell Roan.

MarkH

I agree with this; she just seems so much more energetic at the festival performances I saw and the VMAs (which I think is what you meant--she has never preformed at the Grammys, at least not yet!);

ella

As a lesbian - I really appreciate this video & it demonstrates exactly why I continue to support y’all on here. I understand why a lot of folks are feeling defensive about the critiques on your reaction but I genuinely think the vast majority of them were well-intentioned. With Trump coming into office, it’s hard not to feel especially protective of marginalized populations right now. I really hope you continue to react to new artists!! None of us are perfect, but what matters is that we’re all committed to learning & growing. Y’all have definitely demonstrated that & I respect you both so much for it!

ciara šŸ’

I really love and value you two girls and the community you’ve built around you. I’m a silent watcher of over 3 years and never miss a video. I feel like I know you two the same way we all feel we know Taylor and I know you both have hearts of gold and pure intentions. Thank you for being so mature and sincere with your approach to this topic and so continuing to be so vulnerable! Your videos make me feel so understood ā¤ļø

Maya L. Davis

I wasn't really following along with what was happening in the comments but I'm just grateful to be part of a community that values accountability and having the hard conversations! Love you Bonny and Emily <3

ton

It’s an interesting question. Especially with all of the requests for reactions in the new chat. I think we tend to request our favourite in the hope of having our opinions mirrored back to us. Risks disappointment if they aren’t?

ton

I thought it was going to be ā€œsorry we asked for your requests… there’s just no wayā€¦ā€ 🤣

Annika šŸ“Melb, AU

As a queer woman and fan of Chappell Roan, I didn’t take any issue with your video! I thought it was a completely fair discussion. I know both of your hearts and I know that you didn’t mean anything by offhand comments like Pink Pony Club being ā€œunseriousā€. You weren’t being mean or hateful and are open to learn so I think fans of artists need to stop being so sensitive to balanced critical discourse and other people’s opinions. I LOVE your authentic reactions and hearing your honest thoughts. I don’t want to watch videos where you love every single thing about another artist. There are plenty of creators that do that and it gets boring. I don’t want you to feel scared away from reacting to other artists. So as a community, I hope we can agree to share and discuss our opinions and educate on our favourite artists in a kind and patient way. We can’t expect Bonny and Emily to know every nuance about our favourite artists - that’s why blind reactions are so fun! They are real people. Please don’t scare them away from reacting to artists other than Taylor. ā¤ļø

claudia jones

This is why I will always support you both, you care and that means so much x

Goldbourne Mascal

This is not a Chappelle Roan comment but I'd like your take on this. What do you think about a relationship between The Bolter and the Evermore albumā€¼ļøShe smelt the rat, the end of the relationship, and boltedšŸ¤ØšŸ˜ā€¼ļø

Goldbourne Mascal

BTW, I only like Taylor's music so I'm not involved in those other artists. Sorry but I'm a bit too old for the new artists!

Sarah Ayers

I love watching your videos but I don't reply too often, however I wanted to contribute to this one--just wanted to say as a lesbian I LOVE all of your videos and your commentary and analyses. You have introduced me to lots of artists I hadn't listened to otherwise and alongside your reactions is my favorite way to listen to a new album. please keep doing what you are doing and just remember that it is impossible to appease everyone. It is clear that you two have only positive intent and genuine reactions. You are my favorite people to watch on youtube!

Krispy

I love Chappell, as a queer person who lives in America I loved your reaction. Not everyone decodes things, and fathom things the same. You guys, have a different perspective than me, and I love that. Most importantly you always fathom with compassion. Truly, I believe you always ā€œlisten and don’t judgeā€, that’s why I keep coming back. You fathom, you analyze, you critique but you never judge. Just because pink pony club didn’t hit you in the gut like it would a queer chicken, doesn’t make your reaction invalid. we experience music differently. I don’t feel like you have to ever apologize for being your kind, authentic, thoughtful self’s. Your video was just you two being you, in the moment. It made me smile, and filled my heart with joy. I never comment, so just assume every time you drop a video, you two made my day brighter: because you do.

Sarah

You don't sound like a deranged weirdo at all i get it and I can relate as well, been so amazing finding this community it's getting me thru the tough times too 🫶

Sarah

Yes that's so true ton I think bc we all feel the same way that Bon & Em do abt Taylor that of course we are used to how they react to her but if we are expecting the same reactions to artists they are new to we could end up disappointed. Probably hard to not end up getting hopes up that they really like an artist that's a personal fave.

CDplayer

just wanna say that i love your videos sm!! luv chappell too but not offended by your last video, actually it's interested to find how people, who doesn't know her that well, think and react!! anyway appreciate your take on this whole thing, always supporting you guys!!

Cathrine Ahm

I didn’t read the comments that you’re talking about, but I’m just curious why people think ā€œcriticismā€ of someone automatically means criticism of their race, sexualitet etc.? If we’re supposed to treat everyone the same - that means that you can like or dislike people regardless of these things bc you actually see them just as a human being. Not resonating with a queer artist doesn’t mean you don’t support queer people in general (you could even be queer yourself)? Just like disliking Taylor Swift or Kanye has nothing to do with them being a straight woman or a man of color?? I haven’t dived into Chappel (yet) bc of the same vibe I assume you’re talking about from interviews etc, although I like the songs I’ve heard. But I’ve loved Troye Sivan for years (not his recent music though) - they’re both queer, I just ā€œtreatā€ them like any other artist - some I like and some I don’t. Sorry english is not my first language so hope I didn’t offend anyone ā¤ļø

Dany Rv

This is one of the reasons why people is not real online. Guys you know this chickens are never trying to offend no one!! They are always trying to have a safe space for us. Please don’t turn into a fake space. Please keep being real. Don’t be afraid to speak up. You don’t have to understand everything, that’s fine!!

Lg

This sucks you feel like you have to do this, you don’t. ā€œWhat if I don’t like beans? Don’t make the bean soup!ā€

Erin M

I think this was an important video to have. Us having an open space like this to communicate and learn from each other is important. Especially with everything going on here in America, having open discussions with people in vulnerable communities when they feel misunderstood and slighted is so important. Even if it wasn’t your intention, even if it wasn’t that bad. Don’t get defensive and just open up a little and talk about it šŸ«¶šŸ»

sorvde

I love your authentic reactions. You will never be able to please everyone. I think many Americans are very tense right now with everything that’s happening with this new administration that people can be defensive about little things. Occasionally, some people will be louder than others. Every day is a learning experience. Love yall to death and will always support you no matter what.

Jennifer Rudolph

Yes! VMA’s, where she was dressed in medieval suit of armor. That performance was so great.

Girls, I love you so much, but please for your own sake stop making videos apologizing every single time someone feels offended. People need to understand that all opinions are valid and that no one owes them anything. This is your channel, of course ideally you would make everyone happy every single time but that's not how life works and people need to understand and learn how to deal with it. You weren't disrespectful at any time! Of course you identify more with a white heterossexual privileged women like Taylor Swift, because that's who you are, like I also am. We don't need to be all super diverse and inclusive and have to learn every single word and aspect of everyone - we can obviously acknowledge that, we should respect it and even learn from it - but you don't need to apologize to this degree!! You did absolutely nothing wrong!! We can have opinions, feel vibes and energies from people and only because they are from specific groups it doesn't make us bad people for not understanding every single aspect of them, or to like everything about them. LGBTQ+ people have also bad things, bad personality traits, or can even be someone we just don't vibe with, like any other people! Enough... I feel that people want to live in a world where everyone needs to accomodate every feeling and frustration... this is not internalized anything... this is a conversation between friends about music and you just told us what you feel. We can comment and change points of view, any if anyone is sensible to the point of unsubscribing be it... But please don't start filtering and censoring yourselves because of this, the world is becoming fake because people don't feel like they can express something simple with fear of peoples reaction. Please be yourselves, keep respecting people like you've always done! I 'd rather burn my whole life down, than listen to one more sec of all this bitching and moaning :) Love you and this community so much!

Claudy

I do appreciate this video. I think it’s very important to reflect, learn from things that happened and grow as a community. There were some awful comments under the video, that were completely uncalled for. I think it’s incredibly important for us to give you guys feedback whenever we hear you say something we disagree with or maybe even offends us. Considering you guys want this to be a safe space for everyone. Sure, you cannot always please everyone, but there’s a difference between pleasing everyone and saying something offensive. And I do consider it our ā€˜job’ to educate you guys whenever you guys say something that isn’t right. And that’s okay. That’s how we learn and grow. But I’m also pretty sure most of us think it’s okay for you guys to call us out. Some comments were not it. And I understand trying to be gracious through it all, but you don’t have to take it all. And to the people who think they shouldn’t have apologised. An apology is not a bad thing. It’s a compromise. It’s doesn’t have to mean more than ā€œWe didn’t mean to hurt youā€. Have some empathy and be a decent person. Honestly, you guys deserve an apology too. Some people were awful. But you guys are not going to get that unfortunately. It makes me sad that people violated your safe space. Because it shouldn’t be just our space space, but yours as well.

Lucie S

Just want to say : I love you guys, your Patreon and Youtube Channel are the best ā¤ļø I hope you know how much you mean to so many of us, and that most of us would never be mad at you for being honest and spontaneous !

Lynny Smith

You both always handle these situations with such grace and genuine care. I agree with some of the comments that I understand why you feel the need to publicly apologise but also don’t think you should have to anytime someone has been offended - especially when you’ve made the effort to comment back to any conflicting comments to share your reasoning/apologies. I do understand though that reading comments rather than speaking them can be misconstrued and you feel that addressing everyone directly can be clearer I just hope it doesn’t become something you both feel like you need to do every time there is some tension. I’ve said it before but I sincerely hope that you both never stop sharing your candid thoughts - you’re both learning and reacting in the moment and I hope everyone knows you both well enough moving forward to know you would never have any malice behind the words you say. Be kind to yourselves x love you both so much šŸ«¶šŸ»

Brandon N

ppl getting mad about reactions need to leave and get a life 😭 its really not that serious they are just filming a reaction to music

Breezy Bumbles

Just out of curiosity, whereabouts are you in Canada?

Sam

100% this; it's always proceeded by "I didn't actually watch the video" too. Then how can you possibly know whether an apology is appropriate or not!?

Kate

American here, and I def feel tense lol. Completely agree with you!

Kate

I think there’s a big difference between ā€œunseriousā€ and ā€œunimportantā€. I definitely don’t feel your reaction to the queer girlies’ pop anthem Pink Pony Club indicated that you felt the message of the song wasn’t meaningful. It’s okay if it hits different for you compared to for the lesbian community! It’s NOT the most serious vibe and that’s personally what I love about it lol. Fun doesn’t mean frivolous, who doesn’t like fun? We love you, and I think most of us know you were absolutely not reacting from a place of derision or intentional ignorance, just a different perspective. Thanks for the apology so that it’s more clear for the folks who were upset, but I think the majority of us don’t feel you had anything to apologize for ā¤ļø

R šŸŒ€

Thanks for this you guys. Super mature and cool of you to just chat with us like this and open up this conversation/ address it rather than just ignoring it ā¤ļøā¤ļø To everyone saying "no need to apologize": they misspoke, and that hurt peoples feelings. I don't think anyone thinks they had malicious intent, but especially the comment about Pink Pony Club being ā€œunserious" rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and understandably so (including me, tbh). If they want to chat about that, they should be able to. I think that addressing that is actually a really cool thing to do/ an opportunity to learn. Doesn't mean it's a MASSIVE deal or they’re being ā€œcancelledā€ or something. We all mess up sometimes and accidentally offend people, and opening up a conversation about those things is important, especially when it comes to understanding marginalized communities that we are not a part of. That doesn’t mean anyone is a bad person. Just that we are all learning, and it’s awesome that they took this opportunity to learn.

R šŸŒ€

If I friend I had in real life said that Pink Pony Club was an ā€œunseriousā€ song I definitely would say something to them. And I would say something to them with the assumption that they love and care for the queer community, and would like to make us more comfortable w their language. It’s not a bad thing to let someone know when something they said feels insensitive. I also love if others let me know when something I say offends them, so I can be a better friend and ally.

R šŸŒ€

That being said I really hope you don’t shy away from Chappell reactions in the future! The type of person that is so open to this conversation is exactly the type who should be making Chappell content ā¤ļø y’all rock

Em 🦁

I hate that you feel like you’ve had to do this, you’re reacting and chatting about music for goodness sake šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ«¶šŸ¼

Thomas Williams

Stay authentically yourselves because that’s why we’re here for you! Thanks for all you do!

Dany Rv

Of course! It’s ok to explain in a respectful way, but the people that were being rude to them that’s not allowed for me

Amber Barnes

Emily said multiple times that these songs were important so it’s kinda sad they felt like they had to make a video because of a choice of one word. I thought they were super respectful… I’m genuinely confused because this feels like people can’t express themselves without offending another community?

lana del gay

Love you Bonny and Emily <3 thanks for apologising and taking the high road even if i don't think you two said anything wrong, apologising for something is very mature and classy. Art is subjective, there are going to be people who get it and people who don't - i don't understand why we treat the people who don't like they're hating and trashing the artist :( Everyday i find myself loving Chappel's music even more!

We’re all learning and growing and i think responding quickly to something you’re passionate about when you are offended can often be intense. The beauty about this community and music is we all love it and love being here to talk about it. Your authenticity and vulnerability is why I am here and why I’ve been watching from the beginning. šŸ’•

Lou

Thank you for being vulnerable and honest and also as inclusive as you can with usšŸ’–šŸ’– really appreciate it. Also, I’ve learned so much on this channel - you have no idea. LOVE

Kate Harney

I love you guys and have been excited to watch your review of this tiny desk video. You both have previously said you don’t want to your opinions to be altered by others comments. That is great for Taylor or other artists that you are experts on but when it comes to new artists content I think it would be helpful to do a little extra research before, that way you don’t have to keep posting apology videos. Even if that research is just asking the Patreon chats or discord why they are asking for your review. I just feel so guilty for you guys feeling the need to post videos like this.

You each have your own musical tastes. Chappell helps make me feel represented as a member of the queer community, but please never feel obligated to react only in a positive over-filtered way moving forward, due to the harsh comments on the tiny desk reaction video. I understood where your opinions were coming from. Love y’all so much

danny k

the fact that you guys take time to listen to feedback and respond feels raw and honest and I respect y'all for doing it!!!

Rhonda

Please don’t feel the need to be stifled on your reactions because that is what the majority of your patrons want. You should not be expected to know all of the details of a culture that you are not a part of. I’m glad I’m old!!! I don’t understand all of the being offended by literally everything and hyper sensitivity for people’s feelings these days!! She and Sabrina are a flash in the pan…I’m already bored of them! You two are just the best, but keep it genuine!!!!! The lack of deep dive research is what keeps it great!!

Katie Walmsley

I’m wanting to stamp the point that y’all made here that in a reaction, versus a breakdown, you are going to by definition lack context — and as listeners we cannot expect you to have fathomed everything you are reflecting on. A slight tone shift from judgement to curiosity could help in keeping this space truly iterative and exploratory ā¤ļø love you girlies

Has anyone noticed the little flutters on Spotify when you play/pause are gone??

But then it wouldn't really be "reactions" if there's already background/context. And tbh a reaction sometimes is also not liking something. When you have thousands of followers it's simply impossible to agree with everyone's tastes. Nothing offensive was said in that video unless we count the "I don't resonate with the music and the persona sometimes" as offensive. It has nothing to do with education or research. One can keep an open mind and research drag history for example to understand it more. Doesn't mean they necessarily have to love it. But if we keep over-policing content creators, they're going to stop reacting about anything that could cause any kind of controversy

Just wanted to say I always enjoy your guys videos and reactions, and I hate that you guys feel like you owe people apologizes over misinterpretations or simply having your own opinions on things. People make mistakes and say the wrong things sometimes or even change their minds later on and we should allow give space for you guys to be able to like or dislike whatever you guys want. Many people have become obsessed with always being morally right and or all knowing on every little thing, when no one can ever be. Also as a queer woman of color I would like it to be known that I’ve always felt included and seen here by you guys and the community and can see your efforts to be understanding and inclusive. I know many of us enjoy hearing your authentic opinions, even if we all don’t agree on every little thing. I hope this doesn’t discourage you guys and hope you guys know how much joy you’ve brought to many of us during some of our lowest times. I appreciate everything you guys do <3

Kathleen George

You guys care so much. I feel bad that you are trying to react honestly and authentically and you would never intentionally disrespect or be hurtful towards anyone. I love you guys so much and hope you never let feedback stop you from being yourselves.

You guys should really check out the new Hulu special, Faces in Music, the first episode features Chappell and she recreates her album cover makeup look as well discusses drag, making the album and her life now.

While I appreciate the internal reflection and the openness to share those reflections with us, you’re also allowed to have an opinion without being attacked about it and then feel like you need to apologize for it. This is a safe space and it’s a space you’ve created and it’s unfortunate that some can’t see the light you bring and that you’re not coming for someone just for sharing how you’re feeling about it in the moment. Being human is constantly learning.. people trying to label you saying you don’t like strong queer women is just suuuch a stretch and just off base. Keep your chins up girlies!! Your hearts are pure and we’re all here because we know that! ā¤ļø

Hi, rare commenter here. I just wanted to say it’s okay to be in the process of learning, as long as you’re open to constructive criticism and not shutting it down entirely. Unlike most others, I appreciated this video and think it was needed—I definitely don’t want you receiving hate for expressing how you feel about something, but there’s value in recognizing mistakes, too. As a wise woman once said, "if you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow, and it's alright now."

skizzo

You should voice your genuine opinions without being afraid. I'm sorry but anyone giving you a hard time needs to check themselves

Alexandru Stoica

Girlies you are amazing! You don’t need to apologize for your opinions on anything. šŸ«¶šŸ»

Well done, ladies! How refreshing y’all are so authentic in a discussion

Thank yall so much for reading the comments on Chappell's tiny desk video and addressing some points here 🫶 I think your openness to learning and willing to be vulnerable makes this feel like a safe space overall to discuss things and I also think it's true that sometimes it takes people longer to connect and resonate with artists because I think music/artists are things people get very into depending on a variety of reasons. I'm queer and appreciate the clarification on some points and I love yall and your videos I appreciate the honesty and vulnerability you trust your community with 🄰🫶

Wow, people really can't handle people having harmless opinions. You shouldn't have even had to do this. How can they expect you to know all the context for something you just don't know??
