I think I was also shocked because we were all very into the rerecoding era, we were enjoying ourselves, and now it’s suddenly over. And it’s hard to decide which versions to listen to, it’s weeeeeird. When 1989 TV came out I was LIVING in Rome for a semester, and I went to a 1989 party the night it came out, and then I never listened to the old version again. And now I’m listening to it and I feel nostalgic for that time in my life. I didn’t think I would be listening to the old version again. Both versions are deeply connected to that experience and I don’t even know what I’m feeling listening to them. Like, I vividly remember dancing to Now That We Don’t Talk in my room in Rome 😭

Also … fun fact… Rep is a Paris album for me. I was staying there when it got released and learnt it walking the streets of Paris. So totally understand walking the streets listening to TS. She also only talked about re-recording the first five albums initially

Genuinely I had to reprogram my brain. It didn’t take long, but i genuinely had to fathom I could choose between the og AND the re-recorded versions based on MY preferences. It’s genuinely insane to me that I can listen to 18 yr old Taylor sing love story, and then listen to her sing it at 30. When I say can, I know I always have been able too, I just completely shut out the og versions BC Taylor wanted that. And I wanted what Taylor wanted. I also told myself we are promised blank more albums(# of re-records left) and now we are promised nothing. And that is exactly how it should be for Taylor. this fandom had this woman clowning for a full album when she has probably broken down trying to do it for herself and for us. I don’t know what is next for her, bc yes ts12, but we are never promised anything ever again. And Taylor’s versions we that promise of connection to her. I don’t think she will end her spotlight or songwriting anytime soon, but she can. And genuinely I think it comes down to that now. She gets to choose what she does with her music, past present and future.

Truly it’s the best we could’ve hoped for. I kept walking around Paris yesterday being like how are people living their lives without a clue as to what’s going on right now 😂 simply just could never understand that lifestyle. I definitely underestimated how the og versions really feel to listen to. I love TV equally in fact but it’s really Debut Fearless and Red especially that transports me back to like a different type of nostalgia. I became a swiftie in 2021 just when the rerecordings had started, and Red TV was the first release I was actively there for. But this means that I have basically never listened to OG Fearless or Red, except for the well-known singles. So now I look forward to actually listening to the originals! But since I don’t have that nostalgia factor, I do believe that Fearless and Red TV will always be the ones I go to (for most songs). On the other hand, I have a VERY different relationship to both Speak Now and 1989, as I listened to the OGs a lot and they are two of my favourite albums. Now this just feels like the best of both worlds, where I can pick and choose yo listen to the best versions of each song with no guilt whatsoever 🤩

Taylor will likely "re-release" of all her original music now under UMG so if there are any albums y'all wanna buy physical copies of for videos and stuff, you might wanna wait and see if she does anything special to release them now that she finally owns them! It doesn't really matter bc any copy you buy she will own, but like, just if you wanted to wait and see what options there are as far as like the packaging or pressing of a vinyl or anything like that

I understand the evolving emotions! My first reaction was feeling ecstatic for her and being so excited to stream Red OG version, quickly followed by grief for Rep Taylor’s Version. I have landed on this being the best case scenario. Enjoy Paris chickens!

Yes now that she owns the unreleased songs makes you wonder how we’ll get the rep vault tracks. Like will we get the unreleased songs from that time, like the actual recording of her singing it back then when she was in that mindset? Well I guess that means she would have to have all of them fully recorded with vocals but maybe she does cause it’s always been mostly the production she’s talked about, like we couldn’t quite get the production right back then and so on but they must have tried then and still recorded her vocals and so on but then some songs she wasn’t happy with the production, some songs were maybe too close in theme and some just had to be left off for space on the physical version. But like it’s a possibility we will get her from the actual rep era singing the vault then. And maybe if she feels it needs to she will improve upon the production. I wonder what she will choose to do now that she has the option of releasing the unreleased songs as they are from back then or re-record and use her updated vocals? Like for debut it sounds like she will use updated vocals (maybe along with some original unreleased songs? Hmm idk, would she mix though? Maybe release some original unreleased as singles idk) but for rep it’s interesting to see what she chooses to do in the end with the vault. Cause it’s not that long ago and if she finds it hard to get into the same headspace or to nail the production correctly and she has the full unreleased songs from the time she might just release them as is. Aaaaaahhhhhh I’m so excited for whatever is to follow! Just now waiting to see how she wants this to proceed when the time is right aaaahhhh🫶

Also she did so many shows and so many dates for the eras tour. So many thoughtful mashups, an entire new album and era, over 3 hours on stage...through rain and heat and sickness - terrorist threat and she didn't close the tour, she worked so hard for us and for her because the stakes were that high. The best thing about all of this is that she doesn't have to worry so much about planning all her album cycles, thinking "okay now do I release TVs first or do I just release my next brand new album". Can we all agree now listening to the whole discography that having to “not listen/ disregard” her OG albums was like not talking to a friend you miss desperately cause they haven’t apologised yet. This feels like coming home and having a big reunion - not so much collecting Horcruxes more like finding all your friends in the Hundred Acre Wood and having a big picnic with Eeyore, Piglet, Tiger etc etc and planning all the fun to be had together! I immediately listened to style then holy ground original versions! They really just hit different than the re records. Those were also two songs i listened to so much before they came out as rerecords and then i just never listened to them as much once the rerecords dropped. I then listened to change og and I'll definitely be listening to the rerecord of that because her vocal upgrade is insane. no judgement it was great to listen to her younger self, but damn fearless tv highlights her vocal journey which makes sense why she is excited about the debut rerecord, her vocals are going to be chefs kiss. I agree with others that it would be fun to go through each album and listen to each song to see what Version is better, subjectively.

My husband read in a BBC article that Shamrock is a subsidiary of Disney. I’m thinking this is therefore a smart business move on their part as they have earned the good will of the most powerful pop artist on the planet. And I agree with you I think for the vault tracks and the rerecord debut album should have a different cover because I see Taylor's work as an art and art is an expression of the artist, the context in which it was created and the biography of the artist, so TV's are so important cause they are a consequence of a very important event in Taylor's life. What’s the point of the re-record? Her vocals are top tier, the production is superior, and the raw emotion is there.. her other albums needed updating, but reputation is perfect as is.. even Taylor said so. If taylor rereleased rep as a deluxe with all the original songs with the added vault tracks, then I think that would be fine. It could be called (Reclaimed Version) or something else.

Also the sound of the re-records and vault tracks bring us to a totally different moment in time! It’s so amazing we have the originals back, but there’s still something so special about the re-records especially the memories we’ve made with them and the experience of hearing them on release. They also really expanded the narratives and aesthetics of each album and are still quite distinct from the originals.

I think this was so shocking because as fans, we fell in love with the Taylor’s Version era so much that we forgot how much this process still hurt Taylor every time, and how this probably was her goal the whole time. To us, there was so much excitement and empowerment in the TV process that it honestly never occurred to me that each drop was probably still very sad for her. It’ll be so fun to see how she drops Debut TV now that it’s just a celebration like she said in her letter!!💜

I have never gone through the five stages of grief so fast or often as since when the news dropped. But right now I have just gained a real renewed love and appreciation for Taylor and all her work. I was actually talking to my husband a few weeks ago and I said that I actually am really worried about the Rep re-record (as a rep girly) because I think it is the hardest and I love the original so much. I actually wanted to but the OG CD to be able to listen to in case which I have not wanted or felt the need to do for any of the other re-records. Having said that I would also like to say well done and happy day to those of you who have gone through the re-record of your fave album, I am sure it could not have been easy even if I did not understand it before! I absolutely agree that the abruptness of the change is the hardest to process, but in the end I am just so happy for Taylor and to all us us who can appreciate bot the original and TV versions as much as we want. Blessed to be part of this wonderful community and this historic moment in time!

I think it's possible those musical elements and backing vocals could have been rerecorded specifically for tour, maybe that's the extent of what she's done, maybe she thought they only worked for live versions and she'd have to rework them for an album version, like she wasn't totally happy with them maybe? But I do think those audios will have had to have been rerecorded for tour, also I guess she always has a love band too, so I guess that's fewer elements that need to be a recording of if you know you have a musician playing it live every night

I think the re-recording project brought in A LOT A LOT of new fans — myself included. If it had never happened (but she had still somehow created folklore and evermore without that source material), I would probably still be just a casual folkmore/Midnights fan, but instead I became a full-blown swiftie over these past 5-6 years. The badassery of the project combined with the improved vocals put her work in a whole new light for me.

AND...she put out a calendar this year that has ALL the anniversaries and important dates on it. The calendar is an EASTER EGG for ALL of this!!!! So Debut TV coming out next year on the 20th anniversary feels like a given. Will the rep vaults come out in November on the anniversary?

I recall her saying somewhere that re-recording her albums was like losing your homework and having to re-do it and nobody wants to do that. She hyped it up for us but she would have preferred it to not have been necessary.

I honestly think she is probably in such a good head space with travis and owning her music that she just couldn’t be back in that mindset to re-record rep! My guess is the songs she was able to feel ok to re-record from Rep were the more angry ones like IDSB, LWYMMD etc. Because she performed those on eras tour and they’re not the super love songs which as we know Rep is mainly a love album! I wouldn’t be surprised if re-recording some of those songs even might’ve influenced us getting WAOLOM?

I just remembered that Taylor wasn't legally allowed to re-record Reputation until November 2022 because it had to be five years from the album's release. This was right after Midnights was released, and she was likely in full Eras Tour prep, so I'm sure her busy schedule didn't help with trying to make rep sound perfect.

Respectfully as someone who works in arts and is surrounded by family who have made records all of the re records were very difficult to redo and so much work and internally to make it good you have to reconnect and work really hard on it. That’s incredibly tedious to do on something you already did.

Thirdly, I agree that this is the best scenario we could have wished for, also for Taylor. Hope you're feeling better <3 What my initial thoughts were after all the emotionel processing, was that maybe she could "remaster" rep instead of rerecord, like finetune the sound quality etc, and then the vault tracks as an addition to that, i think that would be cool. I think rep couldnt be improved upon as an album, so im happy for us and for Taylor she doesnt feel the pressure to rerecord it

With inflation, Shamrock sold the masters for about $15 million less than what they paid, so, Taylor actually devalued her art so much so, that she bought it back for less than what they paid. What an icon. So happy for her 😁

I just realized I never answered y’alls question on “what are we feeling”? Happy, excited, elated for Taylor. And I have to be completely honest, I was so over the 🤡 for rep. It’s just because it lasted so long. And I have to also be honest that it drives me crazy when I hear people say they are outright angry and say “I’m happy for Taylor but… I really wanted Rep TV”. To those people I say go back and read her letter about why she hasn’t re-recorded it. At the end of the day it was about her owning her masters, not about us getting Rep tv. Besides, she said she’s going to be given us the vault tracks anyway. Anyway, there is my answer and I’ve been jamming some old T music all weekend.

I’ve decided to do a “taste test’ with a friend of mine and see which version my ears like better. As for the original versions vs TV’s, the great thing is that we can now listen to whatever the heck we want. 1989 is my most undecided album. She did a great job re-recording this. Her voice is better. I believe the production is better. I’m not going to automatically just simply start listening to the originals. We’ll see.

I think the following will play out over the next couple years, just a theory… TS12 will by out by Fall 2025, with a small tour taking place from Feb - July 2026…considerably smaller in length than ERAS Tour. Debut-TV will be released October 2026 on its 20th anniversary. Reputation will get a re-release November 2027, on its 10 yr. anniversary. Furthermore, I think Reputation will be a ‘’deluxe edition’’ rather than a TV. Re-release the original album, with an alternate cover, but have the “vaults” be the “bonus” tracks. What’s ya’ll’s thoughts?

They also showed the artist community they’re ready to treat artists fairly & got the endorsement of the biggest artist in the world, so I think they ended up breaking far more than even

The thing is that debut has at least 200 Unreleased Songs because some of them she wrote at 12/13 until prior Fearless era. And some of them aren't that good enough to be released but it's cool that she owns that 'cause it's part of her journey as an writer. ☺️✨

It’s been such wild ride throughout this whole re-record process, the sentimentality, the principal of the whole situation and the end goal of owning her masters came A LOT quicker then I ever could have anticipated. I always imagined it would be a random day far, far into the future when I’d see a headline about her buying back her masters and think about how long it’s been since we started this journey. I don’t know if it’s divine intervention or some of that Tay voo-doo at work but truly this couldn’t have come at a better time, right before there was any decisions to be made about the fates of Reputation or Debut and it truly just goes to show that whatever is yours has been and will always be yours. Truly no matter how the situation worked out whether it was now or later the OG records would never be at peace until they were back home with Taylor (it was like a terrible imbalance in the universe). Additionally, I was for a short time mourning the fact that we’d never get to see a proper re-recording of Reputation however, after fully fathoming everything that we now know this truly is the best outcome for all intents and purposes. Taylor won’t have to painstakingly try to capture the same energy and emotion surrounding the original album and she can just let those original songs speak for themselves. It was always hard for me to picture what the new cover would look like for Rep and knowing it wasn’t even partially recorded makes so much sense because it was never meant to be!. I hope for the vault tracks she’s smiling in the photo or maybe it will be in color because in a way it’s all been purified/ cleansed?. Like all the negativity from that time is gone and in the past. Nonetheless so happy for our girl Taylor 🤍
