OH besties, it's been so long since we sat down and just had a random office chat with you!

We simply had so many further thoughts on the original master recordings, discovering alternate versions of old songs, and all things Taylor that had accumulated during our time away that we had to get off our chest. Enjoy!

For me it’s absolutely Taylor’s younger tone, especially up until speak now, that has me going back to the originals now. Hearing sparks fly and speak now og for the first time since July 2023 really reminded me of how much I loved them because I subconsciously didn’t listen to the re-recorded versions that much after tv came out

Lol in response to the jelly v jam for peanut butter and jelly - in America, we have both jelly and jam- jelly is sweeter and fruit juice-based and is usually what is used on PB&J. I think you guys may be thinking of Jello?

Like you girls said, each version has a different energy, vibe, meaning - whatever it may be but of course we are gonna be listening to both regardless. People are allowed to have their preference of versions but Taylor signed off on all versions, she wasn’t gonna make carbon copies per se and I think that’s what people still don’t understand to some extent… anyway loved the chatty chat chickens! I think what a lot of people don’t take into consideration is just how hard it would be to replicate a song exactly?! Just how much time and energy and repetition she would have to give for every song just to get it as close to the original as possible! How she would have to change the way she sings back to the way she did all those years ago- the way/influence she sang for her first few albums is so so different from how she sings now. It really is amazing if you think about it! (I’m not saying you girlies are doing that just to be clear, I’m talking about some people online that nitpick about details and bash the TV versions). And I can completely understand people who have a nostalgic connection to the originals, or get a certain feeling from the original that they don’t from the re-records, and I think it’s really cool to see people analyzing or comparing the original vs. Taylor’s versions if done right. I just often think about how amazing a job she did with each and every rerecord and am in awe of her. ♥️♥️♥️

As a US swiftie for many years, I never knew ya'll were listening to a different version of Back to December! I've always had the more full one with more strings that is apparently the US version. Why would they change the song on an international version?? That's wild! (I also have the pale yellow OG cover for Fearless and never knew the cover was different for international fans lol)

I am not an economist, but yes net worth is everything, assets houses, money in the bank etc. nobody, NOBODY has a billion dollars just laying around. You tie it up in investments. Which is why so many people own so many properties. I said to a friend the day she announced she bought her masters that I had seen that she sold one of her houses a few weeks prior and it seemed weird and out of the blue, but maybe she needed to free some physical money? Jam and jelly are technically different things - jam is made from the whole fruit including pulp/seeds, while jelly is made from just the fruit juice. We say peanut butter and jelly because the most popular combination here in the states uses Concord Grape jelly. Which IS grape flavored!!!!!! Before anyone says it (I will die on this hill). It's a very specific type of grape that was cultivated in Concord, California, hence the name.

I love these types of videos! And yes I'd like videos of which versions you prefer. I'd love a deluxe version of Rep. A physical release with new visuals to enjoy. First half is the original album, and the 2nd half is vault songs and maybe alternate versions of LWYMMD, like the Eras tour version, Jack Leopards, and Taylor's version since it seems to be rerecorded already.

Random tid bit, when I first got into Taylor, (around the time Bonnie did!) I didn’t really listen to things via albums, cause I didn’t really understand how albums work, I just listened to whatever. I feel this last few weeks have been LIFE CHANGING--it took a bit for me to wrap my head around it. I still am, I think. I will always listen to both. After Taylor announced a Rerecord was when I stopped listening to the OG. But I haven't been listening to Rep or Debut very much because I thought they might be coming at the end of the year, and I've been obsessed with TTPD. I love both versions for different reasons, and most of the tracks I can't really pick which I like more, but there are a few. All Too Well 5 min OG is SUPERIOR, the emotion in it is soooo good! I completely forgot what that sounded like. Today Was a Fairytale--I had the movie soundtrack, so that was the version I knew better, but I like the OG too. I love your chatty videos! And for the wedding, I would assume their was security all around the event with only one entrance, and you probably had to go through some kind of security to get into the event. And then her bodyguard would have been close by, and maybe a few other security members. But it seemed like a quite cozy wedding, so not hundreds of people...so that's way easier to secure as well. And she had Travis, whom she's said she always feels safe when she's with him.

Jelly is NOT a dessert in the US, that would be like saying that jam is a dessert, which it isn’t. Jell-O on the other hand is a dessert, but that’s mostly just made up of sugar. I know it can get confusing because some countries (like S.Korea) refer to gummy candies as “jellys”. But in the States, jelly & jam are food items, jell-o is a dessert, and gummies are candy. HELP that international mix of Should've Said No sounds soooooooo much like Who Knows by Avril Lavigne. The reason Speak Now OG starts with Mine (Pop Mix) for you guys is because that IS considered the default version of the song for international releases. Also, the differences between The Story Of Us's U.S. and international mixes is much more apparently felt after the bridge during the guitar solo. I once made a video edit side by side and its lowkey wild fsdfsdfsd. And the first version of Back to December you guys played is actually the "international" version, and the second one is the U.S. version (aka the actual original version To Me sfsdfds)!! It makes sense if you guys think they're the other way around, because there's no notation for either of them. I bought a Speak Now OG CD before the TV came out and only recently got to play it for the first time, and was shaken to the core when the international versions started playing, cause there is just no way to tell which version you have until you play it!

When I first became a swiftie in 2010, fearless was the first album I bought and the one I bought was Fearless Platinum Edition on CD and it started with jump then fall. So that track list in that specific order of the bonus tracks first is ingrained in my bones. So that ordering has always made sense to me because that’s how I was introduced to the album. When we got Taylor’s version I had to rearrange the track list in my brain 😂

So yeah buying the masters wouldn’t reduce her assets just traded one (money) for another (master). Taylor’s versions are still the ones I’ll most likely go to if listening to a full album mainly because they have the vault tracks and I simply can’t go without those now! The vault tracks are a big draw and I’m forever grateful that we got those in the Taylor’s versions! The original Fearless was so special to me when it was released and I listened to it sooooo much that I do feel very attached to it. It’s just something about those exact sounds that is nostalgic and I think for me I’ll always prefer the OG for that particular album. Taylor’s version is special in its own way though, I love that we have both to choose from 😍

I also adopted the TVs as they came out, and just did not listen to the OGs again. I never listened to the TVs with a critical ear. I love Taylor and I was committed to honoring her. Since the announcement, I created an OG playlist again and kept my TV as it had been. On any given day I just pick one of the two.. I don’t think I am ready to try and be critical over any of the discography or to pick the better/preferred song. Maybe some day… I bought Taylor’s first album the week it came out when I was 13 years old. There is so much nostalgia but there’s also so much pride and love from me in the TVs. Love your random videos!! I can relate so much to your thought process on having all of Taylor’s music. It’s a lot. I was so happy at first, followed by feeling disappointed (which is just utter nonsense) because of Rep TV and now I’m struggling to decide on what album to listen to. I feel like I’ve got such a different connection to the old albums that came out when I was a young teen compared to the TVs. I’m sure this will get a little clearer over time but I’m also still sorting through all of it. And honestly, I’m so glad, Taylor gives us the time right now to just cope (lol). But in terms of the remaining two TV albums, I’m really so glad with her decision to most probably giving us Debut TV because I NEED her adult voice on this superior album. I've been following the Blake/Baldoni case pretty closely and I'm certain Baldoni's team made that story up. There are court docs from last year that show his team planned to use Taylor against Blake from the beginning, that's why he was trying so hard to involve her. I do think there is a rift between Taylor and Blake at the moment, but not about blackmail. Also can we please have more sympathy for the woman who was sexually harassed, than Taylor who has at most been inconvenienced? It sucks that Taylor has been caught in this, but what Blake went through is so much worse.

Net worth includes assets. Subtracted by anything owed in liabilities. Taylor buying her masters is like a purchase. An exchange of money for something. Any cash purchase decreases someone’s monetary worth but they have something to show for it and if that asset continues to hold a value, it’s included as an asset when considering net worth. The masters value would increase belonging to Taylor because the masters will be used more and in high demand, increasing the worth. This means Taylor’s net worth as asset owner makes her richer. It’s an odd concept when someone has to buy back something stolen from them because technically, she’s millions worse off because she never sold them for monetary value in the first place. They belonged to the contract holder (ew). In time, deflation may occur with the masters bringing their asset value down but Taylor won’t ever sell them so it’s a mute point. Now, she’ll be able to make money from the asset (masters) because they can generate income through streams, sales, etc.. Hopefully in time she’ll break even on what she had to pay. Stream those masters. Buy those masters. Consume those masters 🤭🫶🏼

Again loving your random chats at the start lmao my thoughts on chocolate: I am picky because I like nuts, I like chocolate, I like chocolate-covered whole nuts like chocolate almonds, but I do not like blocks of chocolate with bits of nuts in it. It just ruins the chocolate experience for me. However I do like the Lindt dark chocolate blocks with little bits of raspberry or salted caramel or mint in them. But not nuts. In response to the international version of Fearless: I'm from Germany and a Swiftie since the Fearless era, and for YEARS I had no idea that Fearless wasn't her first album. I was just a fan of the music and wasn't online talking about her or anything and I also hadn't heard of Taylor before Love Story, so I just thought it's her debut. I also don't remember any of the singles from Debut being popular here, so they just were never on my radar. I don't even remember when I finally learned that this wasn't her debut album, but I think it might have only been when I got Spotify in like 2018 and went to her artist page and saw that there was another album lol. I remember being absolutely mindblown because I just had no clue. And then I looked at the tracklist and was confused why some Fearless songs were on there (bc to me, Should've Said No, Our Song and Teardrops always were Fearless songs). I guess the label saw that Debut didn't perform well internationally but they picked those three songs and made them a bit more poppy to cater more to audiences where country music isn't as popular? I don't know, it's fascinating tbh.

Yessss I’m so glad you guys mentioned the different versions of the speak now songs because I feel like no one talks about it!!! For the story of us, listen to the drums vs guitar. The first one has more of a drum focus so I’ve always considered that the “pop version”. The one at the bottom of the album has a more pronounced electric guitar throughout (especially in the instrumental bit before the first verse and the bridge)

When Taylor bought back her masters, her net worth remained the same. Because even though her liquid assets decreased (because she had to pay the purchase price), she got the ownership for the master with the same value. So it’s just an exchange of assets - money for the ownership of her masters. But now that Taylor own her masters and this deal was made public, it is likely that the value of her masters will increase and her net worth will also increase. I just have to say that I am one of the rare Swifties that was a late bloomer - i’ve only been one since early 2023 and from that moment I decided not to go back and listen to her stolen albums. I fell in love with everything from Lover on and had enough that I was able to hold off listening to the others. The day of the Speak Now TV release was the first time I ever listened to that album and it was just mind blowing. I have been sooooo excited waiting for Rep and Debut TV to come but I was being patient, I would not listen to them. That being said, the day she announced she bought her masters was the day I IMMEDIATELY bought and binged debut and I am obsessed!! I cannot believe how much I love that album and I cannot imagine what her mature vocal will sounds like on them!!! I obviously did the same with Rep but I was more familiar with most of those songs. It’s just been amazing all around since I became a Swiftie, I am still digesting her music because there is just so much and Incant get enough!

What I find really interesting with artist like Taylor is that her music is always "in the moment" because she writes her own lyrics and oftentimes (more than not) they are about her experiences directly. She has said before that she looks at her albums as snapshots / memories from the time that she wrote the music. Diaristic in nature, by intention. She can only feel those emotions most intensely right after they happened, so she has always written in raw fashion. That rawness can only be best achieved with the adjacent recordings of those feelings. Her voice has matured and become more rich, no doubt, but music isn't just about vocal prowess, it is about her storytelling and with that comes emotions of the moment. I don't think she ever tried to best the originals, because she already had that snapshot in time of the original feelings. We're just fortunate that she turned an insufferable moment of her music being sold into a triumph so that she (and we) we can even witness a new take with her matured vocals. There is not losing in either version. She is simply the best... better than all the rest :)

My biggest „wow“ in this process of having every version to listen to is 1989 the old version, because I’m so sorry but Taylor’s version made this album superior?? Having everyone hating on the re-recording previous and now listening to both back to back made me really fathom that for me this is so so wrong. The only two songs that are superior to the Taylor’s version are shake it off and New Romantics and I’m so grateful that I can listen to the OG… but for the rest she really did something with this album. It was never one of my favorites (still loved it very much) but now I cannot deny the superiority that it is Just wanted to put this out there because I still to this day feel the need to defend 1989 TV 🙂‍↕️

So for example for me Red TV is so superior no questions asked. Speak now, I do tend to now go back to the OG version just cause of the angst and feistiness in her young voice. You really do hear that she felt so much during recording. And with all the albums that’s what it is, listening what she felt in both. So interesting, so I’ll be switching here and there but for sure will always be listening to both versions

Honestly yes this has been a mindfuck since she bought her masters and tbh the whole re-record project. 1989 was such a special album to me and when I listened to TV idk it just hit me wrong. I actually stopped listening to Taylor AT ALL for many months because I also didn’t want to stream her old albums so I just didn’t listen period. Of course I had my TPPD moment but other than that no. A bit about peanut butter you guys. Ok Its peanut butter and jelly (or jam), jelly and jam are similar but not the same. We call it PB& J. I prefer a peanut butter (crunchy) sandwich wiht honey instead. Another very very popular thing that is delicious is peanut butter and celery. Streaming and licensing are the main source of income and then it would likely depend on where and how you’re buying as to whether there’s a trickle effect from physical album sales years later.

With the exception of 1989, I never listened to those older albums until there was a Taylor’s Version; other than the singles that I’ve heard on the radio in the past, Fearless, Speak Now, and Red TVs were all “new” albums for me, and I will do the same for debut. 1989 TV was the only one of the four that was already put out in which I truly listened to for the first time again. As for Reputation, it is similar to 1989 just not as impactful for me personally (as I began to like her music during 1989), and I’m a little sad there won’t be a Taylor’s Version of it because I could’ve really used that to fathom that album more, but it’s okay!

And actually, the old masters are still assets in her overall financial portfolio that make up her total net worth. She replaced cash on hand (or cash from investments) with the masters and the value they hold. I only became a swiftie a year ago and I‘ve only listened to the Originals one time each as like a basic idea of the songs before only listening to the Taylors Versions. So I have absolutely no emotional attachment to the Originals and honestly it still feels illegal to put them on 😂 the TVs hold all the emotions for me because of my history with them. And sometimes I get sad thinking about how I‘ve been missing out not having her music in my life up until my mid 20s, but honestly, I will be able to have her in my life for so much longer and this woman is probably never gonna stop making music so I have so much ahead of me which makes me happy 😍😍

Jelly and jam are actually two different things! Jam is made from mashed fruits so usually is thicker/more chunky and can have like a pulp to it, whereas jelly is smooth and made from fruit juice. (Personally I prefer jelly)

Fearless Platinum Edition was my first Taylor album back in Ye Olde Tymes and the physical cd had the deluxe songs first not only Spotify, and I didn’t know Jump Then Fall WASN’T supposed to be track 1 until Fearless TV, and it literally changed the way I looked at the world, my entire life was altered in that moment. I still change playlists so the deluxe tracks are in front, I’m sorry it’s too ingrained. I listened to that album every day for like more than a decade, it’s too late for me.
