My favs are Reputation, Red Og and 1989 OG. But Ttpd (The Albatross Editon) album cover it's top tier as well. My personal ranking: 1 - Rep 🖤🐍 (ICONIC, SUPERIOR, NEVER DONE BEFORE). 2 - Red OG ❤️🍂 (classic quintessential Taylor) 3 - 1989 dlx OG 🩵🗽 (classic Taylor that changed the industry of pop). 4 - Ttpd 🩶🗄️✍🏻📚 (The Albatross Edition) (The reason that I choose this version is that when I listen to the main album. This is the cover that I picture in mind). 5 - Midnights 💙🌌 (Idk something about her holding the lighter and simply watching it burn is so brave and vulnerable, but also empowering).

My least favorite album cover is Lover and the black Fearless Plantinum Edition, just because I prefer the white one. It's also the cd cover that I brought in 2011. 🥺 And with Lover, it just don't do it for me. I think she could have put a litte more effort, but also the same time I do think that it represents the album very well, so maybe it's only because I'm not attached?

This was fun! I think the Speak Now TV cover is one of her best. I love the Black Dog cover too. I think my favorite one is the original Red cover followed by Rep. evermore is so iconic though. Lol forget it, I can’t rank things 😆 The Easter egg is that you’re finally giving us a Rumours deep dive, since it is one of the most iconic album covers in the history of album covers! Yeah, I’m going with that. 🫶

fearless TV opinion: I love the top and think it’s actually an important part of the story of the re-releases. I saw something when it first came out that the shirt is similar to the one romeo is wearing at the end of the love story music video, which is a song about wanting a man to rescue her, but now SHE’S wearing it because she’s her own damn hero and doesn’t need a frightful man to save her. she was taking back her power, her legacy, which love story was a integral part of. whether or not that was intentional who’s to say, but something about that theory + the fact it was the first re-release + how important the original love story song was to the trajectory of her career- has cemented this fact as canon to me. it’s my favorite of all the TV covers. 😭

for me, the cover for the albatross represents the symbolism of an actual albatross. out on the ocean alone, facing the turbulence of shifting winds and still rising. her wearing what looks like a men's white dress shirt is symbolic to me, too. feeling lost, alone at sea, wrapped in memories of her lovers, but still staying aloft and putting out warnings

Okay, so this was hard! First of all my Louvre category: 1. Rep (Need I say more?) 2. Red TV (I'm sorry, but I feel evermore stole this look from Red TV not vice versa) 3. Folklore Original (Focussing so much on the woods and little on herself just discribes the album) 4. Original 1989 (Gorgeous and iconic) 5. TTPD Original (Okay, again. The vulnerability and still the iconic lips? Hello?) Okay, two covers I didn't agree with your ranking (I'm sorry): 1. Midnights original is too high I once focussed on her hair and it looks like she's got the 1989 bob. Also I feel like her face is a little photoshopped? Or am I wrong? 2. The albatross is too low I kind of get why it feels out of place, cause it's taken outside. But I feel like it perfectly fits the song. It way you only see the sea, like albatrosses do for up to six years of living? And the nod to 'The rime of the ancient mariner' by taking a picture by the sea. It's perfect. Bottom five you may ask? (Best to worst): 1. Debut original cover (I'm sorry little Tay, but no) 2. Red deluxe (It takes me away from the real cover, which is gorgeous) 3. The weird angled folklore (Not only her shape but also the shape of the tree is also weird, excuse me mother and mother nature) 4. Speak Now deluxe (Is this red? Nuh uh) 5. my put it in the louvre album covers are rep, evermore, red og, folklore, and speak now tv. i will say that i appreciate the fearless tv cover more after seeing the blouse she wore for the cover at victoria and albert museum in london last summer. when you can see the whole shirt, it has great sleeves with long ribbed cuffs and has more detail than is visible on the cover

Great video idea! Album covers really do have an influence on your overall feeling about an album. I mean you don‘t judge a book by its cover but it‘s still the first thing you see. Speaking of that I‘ll confess my unpopular opinion: I don‘t get the 1989 cover. The baggy jumper with the sleeves that are barely visible against the background, the cut off face, the void expression, the muddled non-colors? Making it a polaroid doesn‘t save that. Just my opinion, please don‘t kill me. My favorites: Folklore looking back over her shoulder and surrounded by the field Midnights on the piano chair and on the phone Red OG Speak Now TV 1989 TV against the sky and the two on the beach. I went more with the images I like rather than symbolism or having albums represented. I love what you said about the Midnights and Rep covers! So fascinating…

I love the original album cover for TTPD is perfect because she looks so vulnerable and exposed and she seems like she’s trying to kind of cover herself up to sort of hide. I think this is her most intimate and vulnerable album ever so that’s why I love this cover particularly.

There were SO many good photos from her Lover shoots that would have been better. when 1989 tv came out i asked my parents to please go buy the cd for me at our hometown store, they gave it to me when i went back home, and they had randomly chosen to buy that last variation of the cover (the one with the legs up, i deeply dislike it), when the standard tv cover (which i love) was available too. they did the same with midnights lmao, they bought me the dark brown cd variation (the only cover i didn’t love from midnights). like… why are you choosing the ugliest ones 😭?? still gratefull tho i never said anything to them

For me the Midnights aesthetic it's more on the end of the 70s and beggining of the 80s. Disco is very groovy so albums like Future Nostalgia or Confessions On A Dance Floor fits more with the disco sound. Midnights mixes the retro 70s/80s glam synth-pop with the modern electropop. In a more Bedroom Pop x Indie Pop type of way, which brings the introspective, melancholic, anxious and reflective side of Midnights. Songs that have that retro 70s/80s glam synth-pop sound and are very Midnights coded are: "Wonderful" from Vinnie Who and Just Like Before from Seal.

evermore is my favourite album but the cover has too much white for me and, in general, i wish her pictures (album covers, photoshoots, tour pictures) were more artistic and with more of an ambiance. most of the times it’s just the picture itself, edited to have good contrast and all that, and that’s it. look at billie eilish’s hit me hard and soft tour pictures for example and compare it to taylor’s, you know what i mean?? i think she got a bit closer to it with the folklore, 1989 og, and even midnights photoshoots

Simple but gorgeous. My least favorite is…rep. She has always just looked constipated to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But beautifully constipated!! And I really can appreciate what you said about the shading and the symbolism and the deeper meaning involved. I could never look at it long enough to fathom that much. here to defend the long pond cover. It's artsy and more "album cover" esque than the straight up portrait of her singing. Plus it captures the moody darkness of the long pond studio sessions. Also for the original TTPD i think she was going for vulnerability, which she captured fully.

The original Red album cover doesn't suggest sombre to me - to me, it says acceptance after the sombre stuff has all happened. It's like she's taken a deep sigh, ready to tell the story. The vibe of the lighting and the way she is looking is like it's late afternoon, there's a cool autumnal breeze in the warm air and you can hear leaves catching the ground. To me it's not weird that 1989 TV says the title on the front, I think it looks great with the white writing and I just felt like it was to sort of encompass the OG and the original deluxe which had "1989" on the front. Being a polaroid is obviously part of the 1989 identity, but I always took the border to be like, just a normal photograph border. Taylor's smile on this cover is the most pleasing thing I've ever seen.

The cover of 1989 TV will ALWAYS have a soft spot in my heart. The only reason I need is because it's the first album where she's smiling! But the other reason is bc I was watching the livestream of the Aug. 9, 2023 Eras Tour show and clowning so hard for 1989 TV - my first big clowning experience as a swiftie! Staring at my phone in bed, watching the grainy livestream, then seeing each blue outfit, followed by her rising up in that 1989 blue outfit, freaking out about it, and then in the surprise song set she starts talking about how it's the 8th month and 9th day, and then reveals that perfect album cover?!?! I swear, that moment is when I was born as a swiftie 🥰

I agree with most of what you guys said, except for The Albatross. The Albatross is a large, white, oceanic bird that spends its first 6 years out at sea, and never touches land. Taylors next to the sea, in a large, oversized white shirt, all disheveled because she's been flying in circles for 6 years, and she's finally landed and that all went to shit, and at this point she's just in shock (the look on her face) There is A LOT happening there! Its my personal favorite cover from TTPD.

Don't ask me why the "streaming" cover is different then the physical copies but the vinyl and CD cover for The Anthology is by far the best TTPD cover in my opinion and it wasn't even on this list.

There’s also a different cover for The Anthology physical copy that was released with the Eras Tour book. It’s a photo of her from the back and she’s looking to the side and is wearing a black strapless. Her hair is loosely tied. I personally also like some of the lyric video images. This video made me realize that I am not obsessed with most TS album covers. The pictures are beautiful but overall they are always so plain and not very artistic. I'm comparing them for example to the last two album covers from HAIM. There is a lack of details in Taylor's imagery. Even Melodrama, it's simple but still feels artistic. And I completely agree that TTPD's cover doesn't feel like it captures the vibe of the album. My favourite covers are folklore, red TV, reputation, 1989. I don't relate at all to your appreciation for the debut and fearless covers. 😬😬😬

This is random but I'm very passionate about storing your vinyls correctly so I'd like to suggest to anyone who owns Vinyls to get them out of the paper sleeves and buy anti-static plastic sleeves for the vinyls. I don't mind the lack of Polaroid imaginery of the 1989 TV cover, as it's a retrospective look at this past work. Same for the Red TV cover - I think it's stunning, Taylor diving into her past, looking back on her love affairs and emotions. Also - in the original version the shade coverig her eyes looks almost like a hat, so the choice for a different sort of hat in TV just works!

TTPD original cover - the most beautiful cover for my favorite album 🤍 2. 1989 TV - it is stunning, makes me so happy and captures what 1989 feels like to me. I looove that she smiles on it !! 3. Midnights alternative cover Jade Green - I am obsessed with this photoshoot in general, this one makes me feel like I am in the room with her 5. In the TTPD cover I think the light shadow looks like a man was sitting there and now is gone (like a ghost or a shadow) so I actually think it is perfect : it’s showing that she was vulnerable and comfortable and then the person ghosted which we later found out the album was a LOT about the end of two of her relationships one of which was a ghosting situation

English is not my first language and although it flows really nicely for me, sometimes a word does catch me off guard. For example: I was listening most of the time and only looking at the screen to see the album covers and then back to my daily stuff with my kids. So it was so strange to me why the top tier was “PUT IT IN THE LOO”. It wasn’t until 51:50 when I looked at it and it was put it in the LOUVRE. Everything makes so much sense right now 😂😅

sorry if someone has already commented this but apparently the inspiration for the Red album cover was Joni Mitchell's Blue (source: I can't remember but I read about this at the time of release). Both are iconic heartbreak albums and this was around the time that there were rumours that Taylor might play Joni in a biopic (again, not 100% sure how true that was but the album cover comparisons probably added fuel to the fire)
