Oh, its about time!!! We have both been in our RED ERA ever since Taylor got back her original recordings, and so we thought it was time for us to sit down and finally watch the entirety of the red tour together!

There was never an official recording of this released, so we watched what is available on YouTube. ENJOY!!

I’m so glad you posted this, because I had a Red revelation that might be old news to Swifties who have been Swifties longer than I have. But, your thoughts about John Mayer the other day got me thinking. I am a later in life Swifty. Long before I became a Swifty I was a huge John Mayer fan. And I was thinking about his cover of Bold as Love and the lyric where he’s talking about Joni Mitchell’s album Blue, and how there must be another color that’s waiting on him. And I totally believe that he really felt that, that he was on the verge of making an album as iconic as Blue. And then I think about the fact that right after the album where Taylor really takes John to task, she names a whole album and a whole era Red completely owning that color as if it had been waiting for her.

OMG YES this brings back so many memories as this was my first Taylor concert and it was such a VIBEE! I brought a bouquet of roses for Tay (crazy what they would let into stadiums back then) and I also met Andrea too hehehe! I remember watching clips of the tour online being SO excited to see the doo-wop 70's YBWM performance but then being surprised (and a little bit sad) she changed it to an acoustic performance for the Aus leg! It's still so crazy we never got the official recording of this tour tho :)

when i heard you guys talking about how people always say that taylor only writes breakups songs but she really doesnt, it got me thinking! im a numbers gal so i looked through every song and did some calculations and only 32 percent of her songs are breakup songs! actually, less than 50% of her entire discography is about her own personal romantic relationships. so its just factually incorrect

A video idea I’d like now that she owns all her music (but like it’s not really dependent on that necessarily but like it has to do with going back to her older works so yeah) but that you would refathom all her original prologues. For the ones that have a Taylor’s version prologue you could read them back to back maybe and see what that brings up, idk exactly how you would structure and execute it but like just have a bit of a prologue refathoming or revisiting and let it serve as foundation for a little chatty chat now that we’ve had those older albums a minimum of several years. Idk I just feel like it could spark some interesting discussions to reread the original introductions to the albums with some hindsight (unless you reread it often off camera then it won’t be as big of a rediscovering/refresher but could still be an interesting discussion maybe?) so yeah idk if it would be one video per prologue or a couple per video or if all would fit into one but however you would decide to execute it I just feel passionately about prologue rereads and discussions!! And just wanted to put it out there.(Loved the series when you revisited the folklore, evermore, midnights prologues with hindsight, and also just anytime you’ve read and reacted to a prologue of hers)

red was not a cohesive album and red tour was insanely disjointed for what we have come to know about taylor's transitions and choices for setlists. a strange flow, partially because of the weird mashup edit of the available video, but so much distracting stuff that didn't really enhance the performance. red is such a good album, and she was still very young and figuring it all out, and it shows. there were far too many dancers onstage for so many of those songs. her choreographers have improved since then. the eras tour was so visually striking because the right number of dancers were onstage for taylor to be the center of attention, but also for each group of dancers to be able to showcase their performances and abilities. thanks for watching this with us and thank you to ducky for providing knowledge along the way 5 min later edit - strangely, it was the same choreographer as the 1989 tour and rep tour. same guy who did the shake it off video that bonny complemented in the shake it off video the other day. hmmm...very interesting. he grew into the later tours, i guess

To me, the Red Tour has always been represented by that first outfit with the lace top, black shorts, and red electric guitar. It’s been one of my favorite looks EVER that she’s ever done, which is why I replicated it at one of my Eras Tour shows. It’s wayyy under appreciated too cuz I never saw anyone else wear that outfit to Eras but I got so many compliments on it and it’s so iconic to me as a longtime swiftie ❤️

I think the reason why the ringleader outfit is what has lived on in swifties minds’ since the Red Tour is because when Taylor represented her different eras for the first time in the Look What You Made Me Do music video, she chose that outfit to represent Red. And it was right in your face in the video too lol. So honestly we have Taylor to thank for why it’s the outfit that’s continued to live on in all our brains 🤣

Love the video chickens!!!!!!!! I was recently rewatching your other tour reactions so it’s nice to have Red in the mix now!!! I think the different guitar while an aesthetic change also are probably musically tuned differently to the key of each song / they could also have a different sound quality to match the song. I noticed her capo was on different frets on the different guitars which is kinda the indicator they have been tuned to different keys.

Different guitars for different sounds, but mainly for different tunings. They just hand them to her unlike a smaller band which you’d see tuning on stage in between songs

I don't know if Taylor's looks get better than the curly, blown out look of Red. I can't believe she called the 50's style cringe in her NYU speech, it's literally my favourite look of hers. I can't tell you how much I want Taylor to completely shock us all by making an appearance out of nowhere with an electric guitar and fully go back to that energy. LMAO Bonny's comment on Caitlyn. The circus is also a great metaphor for the music industry. She has used it as a reference multiple times since, in Mirrorball ('and they called off the circus') and in Who's Afraid of Little Old Me? ('I was tame, I was gentle, 'til the circus life made me mean'). So I think the circus is actually a great visual for an album at a time in her life where she really started fathoming the cost of a life in the music industry, or in the circus, if you will.

I know Paul Sidoti is a bit more public, and of course completely iconic, than Amos Heller, however I am amused how much Bonny and Em love to focus on Paul and yet not some of the cool stuff Amos performs. Amos has been playing for Taylor since before Debut after all. Though maybe fathoming will happen, this is possibly the first time in a video Bonny and Em have referred to Caitlin (Violin) by her name rather than calling her Tree (which was hilarious of course). As for guitars, if others have not pointed it out yet different tunings and styles of guitar Taylor may have decided fit songs better, and changing the tuning her own guitar on stage is not something she has time to do with her performance style does (she is so capable I am sure she can) as it is faster for her to just switch to the instrument tuned for the next song.

The Red Tour was my first concert and my first Taylor concert so it's always been special to me so it was lovely to watch it back with you both! Fearless was my surprise song before Begin Again, and I definitely think the You Belong with Me version from this tour needs more attention! Also agree it would be so good to see Taylor with the electric guitar again! And the I Knew You Were Trouble dress was certainly strange 😂 If you can find the I Knew You Were Trouble performance from the American Music Awards (AMAs, I think that's the right one) I love her costumes for that. ❤️

Down on Memory Lane. Red Tour 2014 in Berlin, O2 Arena was my first Taylor live show. 2nd row front of stage. At one moment she was just 2 meters away. First row was reserved for Swifties in cute outfits handpicked by Mama Swift.

That’s such an interesting observation about show security since this tour. I saw the red tour in London and I remember near the end a random man climbed onto the stage and managed to run all the way up to Taylor before the security guards got to him! Honestly must have been such a terrifying experience for her. She handled it like a total pro though and almost didn’t even seem to react, just said hi and was friendly and carried on, which made me feel like she was quite used to that happening. Don’t know if there’s other known instances of that happening, but I’m glad she (and other performers) are more protected now!

With changing guitars- I think some artists tune them into different tunings; like standard tuning, d standard or dropped tuning, depending on songs and have them already tuned up so they can pick up one in a different key and not have to sit and tune six strings in front of the audience. That’s my thoughts but could be wrong 🎸

Im sorry, this goes with the best of intentions but I have to disagree, if she launches something people are not obligated to buy it, and if someone feels obligated than that is a “them” problem not a Taylor problem, I think she should re-release her stuff as many times as she wants, and also there are many fans that maybe didn’t have the money or means back then but would be excited to buy now that they can, personally I don’t have any Taylor merch or cds or vinyls and I don’t feel left out or less of a Swifty for it.

it’s a forbidden romance story with a happy ending. she’s playing off of romeo and juliet but in a world where they actually work out. she wrote love story after her parents told her she couldn’t date a specific boy so this was her longing for a story where they accepted him.

Thank you for this! I’m not much of a concertgoer these days and hadn’t seen one for many years until Eras Tour. The editor who pieced everything together from various Red Tour performances did an amazing job. I really got a feel for how fantastic it must’ve been. 👏🏻👏🏻

It’s interesting how concerts have changed over the years. I was a young adult in the 70s and saw big acts in fairly small venues. I once saw Grateful Dead and people, including my bf and I, treated it like a dance party. I could have reached out and touched the band members. Another time, in a hall that could handle maybe 500 people, Janis Joplin wore a simple black and white striped top and jeans, and her only two props were a three legged stool and the bottle of Southern Comfort that sat on top of it. Those early concerts were more immersive because of those smaller venues. I got disenchanted with concerts when I started not really being able to see the act except on a big screen unless I was willing shell out a crazy amount of money - I reasoned it was too much like watching TV. I think maybe for me now the best way to see live music is the smaller, yet to be discovered artists who play those small venues.

I don't think anyone is expecting her to re-release the originals with new covers or anything but she will most definitely make new pressings that are copyrighted under her name instead of Big Machine and those will be the ones that go on her site. That is likely what they were hoping to wait on ordering for, that is 100% just business and in no way a money grab and no one would be expected to buy them.

That is amazing you got to experience those concerts! Your comment is reminding me of a Tim Minchin lyric "Nothing ruins comedy like arenas- that is a well-established fact. But your enjoyment is not as important as my self-esteem is. My ego's the only thing you can see clearly from the back". Not to say that everyone playing massive shows is egotistical, it's often just logistics and the most efficient way to perform to the number of people who want to see. But yes it's interesting to see the trajectory of intimate organic performances to huge-scale commercial shows

Love the Pink appreciation! Fun fact..I won the grand prize for an online Pink singing contest in 2009, and got flown to London from the US to see her at the O2 arena and got to meet her before the show! It was the first time I saw her flying on the silks, and it was incredible!

I got sad at you hating on the white dress during I knew you were trouble because I used to OBSESSIVELY watch her performing that at the Brit Awards because of that outfit change and that entire performance was SO iconic. Back then I was a closeted swiftie as this was during my the 1975, Halsey tumblr era where I never allowed myself to get fully into Taylor. But I was absolutely obsessed with that performance, and in hindsight it was also one of those moments where I should’ve realized I was bi because I was partially obsessed with that because of how stunning she was, and that did not click until years later for me😆😅❣️But glad you like the black one even if the white was not your favorite, love the video!

What a fun and quirky tour! I was fathoming this morning how very similar (percussion, rhythm, verse-to-chorus timing, etc) "Holy Ground" OG and the Bleachers' "You're Still A Mystery" are, within the first minute. Did Jack possibly take some inspiration from little old Tay?!? When you find downtime you should listen back-to-back! Both great songs in my opinion... I know how Emily feels about Holy Ground though ;)

I feel like you can absolutely see how much work she has done on her breath work and vocal training when dancing/performing live. She doesn’t sound bad, she just sounds out of breath a few times… She never sounded out of breath at the Eras Tour

I think I can safely say that red tour is my least favourite tour Taylor has done. I'm sure i would have liked it more had it been a proper tour video/movie but it just seems not as put together as other tours.

Maybe the circus theme has to do with her fame exploding leading up to this album? There is the term "media circus." She obviously started having a lot of thoughts about whether fame was really worth the chaos. But maybe the ring leader costume is to show that she's actually in control of the chaos. Like she said during the Lucky One intro how they always try to knock her down but they haven't yet. The album itself is also all over the place and emotionally chaotic.

i agree that white dress she wears for ikywt was HIDEOUS lmao but it immediately made me think of the ibytam music video. i think that plus what she tells us about that relationship in the manuscript really says a lot about how she maybe thought he would be it for her but then he turned out to be just…trouble. i think the circus theme kinda ties into that too, she thought this relationship would be something serious for her, and the joke was on her (and it’s kind of mirrored perfectly in how she felt at that stage about her career).

I went to the Red tour in Kansas City back in 2013, but I literally hadn't even realized how little I remember about it until watching this video 😅 The only things I really remember is State of Grace being the opening song, Ed coming out to sing Everything Has Changed, All Too Well on piano, and WANEGBT being the closing song. I just googled the set list for the Kansas City show and it looks like she had cut Stay Stay Stay from the set list and the surprise song was Our Song!

To me, the Ringleader theme for Red has always been Britney Circus emulation. And I don’t mind that at all. TS has always been following and weaving in current music trends of the time; her discography is sort of a cultural time capsule of pop music! I think the Trecherous set with her pointing her toes isn’t ballerina. It’s a tight rope walker, like in a circus because walking a tight rope is trecherous. They also do toe pointing, but not in a ballerina way. So hopefully that helps limit triggering of her bad ballet technique, because that’s probably not what she was going for
