Emily, I think this is the most elegant you have ever looked! The color and the cut both look really good on you. Mary's Song is the only Taylor song that still gets me emotional even after listening to them all so much. I'm a hopeless romantic, what can I say. That said, the other songs are also really good, so I'll see where it ends up as I follow along. What I do is slot each one in as you talk about it, so as I write this I have no idea how it will turn out. Here we go! Ivy The Prophecy Who's Afraid of Little Old Me illicit affairs Death by a Thousand Cuts How You Get the Girl Better Than Revenge Labyrinth King of My Heart Mary's Song The Way I Loved You The Last Time Hmm, looking at this I realize you might be mad at me! My overall opinion is that, although Taylor's writing has always been superior, it just took a giant leap forward with folklore and has stayed there. So songs from folklore and after are going to be hard to beat for me. That was a fascinating psychotherapy session! I hope you do fall in all-consuming love one day, Bonny, despite yourself! You should watch Maisie Peters and her twin Ellen's podcast, Twinhood. Episode 14 has their theory of love.

How You Get the Girl is genuinely one of my favorite Taylor songs. The adlibs in the final chorus go the fuck off. It’s always kind of given me country Taylor vibes because of the descriptive storytelling and acoustic guitar. When I first heard 1989, it made the pure pop transition less jarring. It definitely feels like such a classic Taylor Swift song.

Beautiful love song, lovely production, great storytelling. 3 The Way I Loved You: this is one of her very best choruses, the hook is incredible and I can't get enough of Taylor's belting. 4. How You Get The Girl: I'm with Emily always on this one, it's just a glorious bop 5. Better Than Revenge: I don't think anyone is going to argue that this is one of her best written songs but is it an absolute banger? Hell yes 6. The Prophecy: just beautiful, the way it's expressed and the build in production later on is so effective 7. Ivy: Beautiful song, some great lyrical moments 8. Labyrinth: the first time she played this on the Eras Tour completely changed how I see this song and I really see the beauty in it now 9. Illicit Affairs: Love the vibe, the Eras Tour version elevates it to where this song needs to be 10. King of My Heart: the excessive vocal effects destroy this song for me, it'd be much higher otherwise 11. WAOLOM: I don't care about this song anymore. I used to think it was a lot more poignant than it actually is and now I kind of feel like it's a bit too pick-me and over thought 12. DBATC: acoustic, this song would be very high, but going by the production of the original, the only place it can go is last. The sound of this song is an absolute catastrophe of ear blood and it also gives extremely silly vibes which I do not need for such a brilliantly written song

Enjoyed the relationship therapy tangent! So wild how music can help us understand ourselves and our approach to relationships a bit better. Here's my track 10 listing: 1. The Prophecy – beautiful and heartbreaking, favorite song on TTPD/Anthology combo, will often replay it multiple times when it comes on 2. The Last Time – their voices sound so good together, such a unique idea for a duet where they are singing about the same relationship and using the same words, but it is from completely different perspectives like Bonnie said 3. How You Get The Girl- this was my ringtone during 1989 era! Love this song, such a bop 4. The Way I Loved You – so romcom coded and has all the desire for drama, just fun 5. Better Than Revenge – it goes hard, adore the pettiness, both versions are different with the lyric change 6. illicit affairs – was so happy when I saw it was on the Eras tour setlist, really wish it had more repetition of don’t call me kid at the end after the ending lyrics 7. King of My Heart – find it a little overly electronic, often forget how much I like the song, love the bridge 8. Death By A Thousand Cuts – don’t love the beginning echoing my’s, but great once the song starts, love the bridge 9. Mary’s Song – cute song off debut, towards the top after the debut singles for me, could be ranked 6, depending on the day 10. Labyrinth – can never decide if I love the electronic portal warble or think it detracts 11. Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? – loved it when TTPD came out and adore Eras tour version, but really haven’t listened to it much compared to the other songs 12. Ivy – respect this song more than enjoy it. Love Bonnie and Emily's love for it! Has made me appreciate it more.

It’s actually unfathomable how potent each TTPD track is!!! (My top 3: WAOLOM, The Prophecy, Ivy) As for the overall discography ranking there’s definitely something to be said about how we attach to certain songs and over time they can become lackluster yet we still save a spot for them out of habit or loyalty. It’s kind of dumb to say BUT it feels like grieving a song when you release it from its top spot 🫠🫠. You almost have to untangle your own personal history with it. That being said I think it’s rewarding when you rip that bandaid off and accept that a song served you well, and now it’s time to give flowers to tracks that are revealing themselves in a new light 😊 P.S. I loooved the therapy session thanks for keeping that in 🙏🏻

I think the production really murdered Labyrinth for me. I hate the throat clearing sound in the production. I can't listen to it. BUT that Eras tour version on the piano that she played in Buenos Aires. It needs to be talked about more!!! With the airplane just randomly flying over the sky on the 'i thought the plane was going down, how'd you turn it back around' lyric. I need that version on streaming now. She also does some crazy melody improvisations on it. And she was also pretty much feeling the song since she was falling in love with Travis at the time.
