Just wanted to clarify the confusion during the stream. Dolby atmos takes all the original stems including ones not used in the first released version of the song and remasters all of it, sometimes in a new way. So the explicit lyrics would’ve been an existing original recording that had been changed to be non explicit but was added back in

As soon as I heard these new lyrics, it felt so obvious in the soul (in the cells in my legs, etc) that these were the original lyrics, and that they were sanitized a bit for the album. "If he calls me a bitch" matches so much better with "if a man talks shit," "if he drops my name," and "if he spends my change." All the other lyrics start with "if he," so it seems like she wrote it that way first, then thought up a clean version that sounded similar with the bit/bitch rhyme. Similarly, my bet is she wrote "goddamn" and then censored it for radio (bc "damn" doesn't have to be censored for radio in America but "goddamn" does).

I agree! I always figured that Taylor wanted to be more explicit in her addressing of the controversy but Big Machine forced Taylor to sanitise the album and be more vague to prevent further backlash. Now that she owns her masters and has full control of her discography, it makes more sense that she can just go back and remaster her original recordings rather than re-recording them since she was having so much trouble laying down Rep TV. I don't want to clown for it but I have a feeling that, on New Year's Day, we could potentially get the official 'reputation. [Deluxe]' with the vault tracks on it that we never got in 2016.

Omg Bonnie, the whole album is absolutely FULL of those little differences, like sounds that maybe have been there the whole time but they sound different or I’ve never heard them before. My ears pick up on those minute details in the production a lot, and I swear it honestly felt like I was listening to a Taylor’s version of this entire album. Call It What You Want was crazy to listen to!

I’m halfway through but do we think the most likely reason for the changes might be: We aren’t getting rep TV. She’s said she can’t improve on them. We may get the vaults one day. Now that Taylor has her master recordings, she could just change the elements that maybe she wanted in the beginning. Big Machine really restricted her, slight lyric changes- bitch, goddamn, I can imagine a country music label not wanting those in. Also just the element of control from Scott B 🙄 She also might have changed them now because it’s the first chance she had after eras, showgirl, etc etc. I suspect she and the carls worked together to record the lyric audios and maybe a few extra tweaks here and there. Sometimes I think the most likely explanation is usually the correct one.

I wasn’t clowning but hear me out… I work with someone who knows a record store owner in NYC who informed her because she’s a vinyl collector that if she doesn’t have reputation on vinyl that she needs to buy it now because they’re stopping production on all original reputation vinyls… I went online and you can’t really find it anywhere. Everyone is sold out in the US at least. I found one on a really sus site… Taylor said she loves to surprise us…

So she said that she re-recorded only a few songs from rep - maybe these are the re-recordings that she did and she changed the words slightly as she sang them (like she changed the words in Miss Americana slightly for final shoes of Eras. Maybe she is just giving us those - no explanation- just reputation. Then she will just drop the vault tracks or announce them on New Years Day!!! Also - if you try to buy the original Reputation vinyl - you can’t find it anywhere! I wanted to get my daughter one and you can’t on Amazon or Target - very suspicious!!!!!

Honestly I just think they were trying things with the Dolby audio and something got mixed in the process. But then again I've always been the opposite of a reptv truther, I've been a reptv denier if you will. When we get the vaults at some point in history it will be obvious it won't be through apple music dolby audio lyric changes. We're not gonna get reptv because she's not gonna go in there and record it if she doesn't have to, we will get the vault at some poin. Basically she'll do what she said in the letter.

Thank you for the I Look in People’s Windows appreciation. It makes me sad how overlooked that song has gone by most. For such a short song, it really packs a punch and it’s one of those moments where Taylor just decides to do something weird and quirky near the end of an album, but it really pays off. I think it falls in the same category as Sweet Nothing and It’s Nice to Have a Friend, but I like it so much more than either of those two. Have never much cared for sweet nothing. I don’t understand how people ever found it romantic. It literally always struck me as off and a bit sinister. The line where she changes the lyric to “all you ever wanted from me was NOTHING” makes it impossible for me to find it sweet or romantic. It’s nice to have a friend has grown on me because I somehow started to associate that song with the main couple from “Heartstopper”, and it’s absolutely perfect for them. But, of these sort of weird, quirky little end of album songs, I look in People’s windows is just the best.

You should really go through her other albums in Dolby Atmos. All her albums since “Lover” have been mastered with it, and they just released all the OG albums in Dolby since she owns them now. A lot of the mastering is VERY different from the standard masters - which I mixed in lossless (it’s a bunch of jargon I don’t even really get.) It comes through on speakers, but if you REALLY wanna get the experience use headphones, cuz essentially it’s that all the albums have mixed in surround sound. The biggest noticeable changes I’ve found are on Fortnight, TTPD, Story of Us, Back to December, Tolerate It, and Peace - the last two especially have little synth noises in the first few seconds that I had NEVER heard before. Very cool stuff to explore and experience. Love you guys.

Hi besties. In regard to Dolby Atmos maybe not sounding as good as the previous version, Dolby is best heard through AirPods and special headphones that support it. That’s why your setting should be Automatic instead set to Always On.

shit and damn isn't explicit and goddamn is. it's radio rules. blame the puritanical roots of America. it's "taking the lords name in vain" to say god in a swear word. again, these are long held old radio rules. idk how Spotify determines it, I just assume they follow radio rules. I assume these two are the "original" explicit versions of the songs that she wanted to restore now that she can. my assumption is that the versions you all are familiar with, that we've had this whole time, will still be there but recategorized as the new clean versions. so we'll have both. why now? it might just have to do with how apple and Dolby Atmos works, may not be intentional to happen now, but just it finally going through. meaning she may have not been able to control this aspect. who knows.

Hahaha popcorn tip for Bonny: I remember being told that even if you have a popcorn button on the microwave, it’s best to just listen to the pops! It’s popping so much in the beginning but once the popcorn popping sounds start to slow down, like between one pop to the next, it’s ready!
