Re the rep body suit - I think it's so interesting to hear that there was only a couple because of the material. Just shows that not everything is an easter egg! She definitely knows people were so excited because of rep TV and I think her including this is her saying 'yes the new body suit was amazing and deserved the hype... no it wasn't an easter egg fyi x'

The statement made at 6:40 is something I have never really fathomed, but it is so true. The only person I can think of still doing music, as big as Taylor, at this time is Lady Gaga. Even Beyoncé started somewhere, Destiny's Child, before she was on her own, selling music. Chappel Roan, perhaps, could be mentioned, but she isn't on the level of Ariana, Selena, Miley, Taylor, Beyonce, and Gaga. It's like a catorgeries list or something. Not of who is the best, but most successful. Like I would group those six together and put Chappel in with Olivia, Billie, Sabrina, and Gracie. So Taylor and Gaga would stand alone in that arguement. But I don't really know a lot about Gaga's first album or songs, so i could be wrong about her.

I loved this episode - Rep Stan’s delight lol I’m loving the features of the individual stories, the way things work behind the scenes to put on such a huge show. It’s all so interesting and seems to fly by so fast. I need a 24 part series 😁 I did notice Father Scott was not in the first episodes- I hope we hear from him in one of the remaining shows. I’m so glad that popcorn (Emily’s version) turned out for you, now I need popcorn lol

They frequently used less wings on stage when there was wind. There is usually 6 wings. My Sydney show they only had 4 wings on stage and 2 spotters for safety. You can see how bad Miami was with the amount of helpers on stage and even the 2 dancers standing in the back as a safety precaution in case anyone looked like they might come off stage. While they didn’t really address Rep bodysuit they at least alluded to the why with the nostalgia of Rep tour, capturing the gold and black that she had in her costumes. I personally don’t think it was any more complex than it took a long time to make and was difficult to source the right materials.

For the rep body suit, I’m guessing they needed to create a fabric that could handle all that beadwork. A lot of fabrics would probably tear and be too delicate after sewing all those snakes to it. She wouldn’t be able to dance and move in it.

Your talk about the grind and venue hopping being out of style is a bit disheartening especially as a musician, frankly people like Chappell Roan and Olivia Dean actually did come up on her own terms but I know what you mean its less common these days. Even though the stadium TikTok and the reputation bodysuit wasn’t about Taylor’s Version… at the end of the episode when she says that some things happened because of like magical forces and she’s always wanting to give us what we want… even though she‘s not as calculated and meticulously Machiavellian as some fans want to believe it’s still giving them something it’s still giving them what they want, which is the Chase, which is the hunt for the Easter eggs… and if the clowning of the reputation bodysuit wasn’t a thing it would not have culminated into that perfect moment. She had never changed the outfit through throughout the tour, the first time she put the gold suit on she was disappointed and then was pleasantly surprised that it had been altered to fit her like a glove, the first time she wore it, the crowd went literally wild and I can’t imagine what that kind of energy did for her and like filled inside of her and she knew she looked amazing in that bodysuit that made her feel so powerful and then the rain… everything about that the invisible string about that reputation bodysuit is perfect. By her not giving us exactly what we wanted, but still giving us something. We ended up giving her that huge reaction towards her walking on stage of the bodysuit, which was only intensified by the rain perfectly arriving at that moment! Fucking cinema This was such a beautiful episode. I loved all of the crew storylines too!

I completely agree with what you guys were saying at the beginning. But I think it’s also really unfortunate because there are people that are really grinding and working really hard that are NOT using TikTok or other social media platforms like that because they want to be recognized Not just for a one hit wonder on TikTok. I would say that it’s even harder to get recognized today if you were trying to do what Taylor did. Because everything is so social media based and mainstream. And there’s kind of no way around it you have to be nowadays. There are other “Taylor Swift’s” out there. It’s just hard to find them with how the music industry is nowadays. It’s insane though to think about how much it’s all changed in just 25 years.

May the rep suit be something we keep in mind forever because the reptv clowining was a lil too much they DID try making the gold bodysuit at first, but there was no fabric and once they made it, it had the second row of boobs, and it took ALL that time to fix, she just doesn't want to be too mean and go "oh and they thought there was an album but there wasn't" the reason why I didn't think anything of the gold suit was because she wouldn't announce 1989 and rep in the exact same way, and there was no other gold outfits leading to "an announcement". Everyone's stories just reflect back on her what she values, what she cares about, and also giving space and time for people to tell their story is so important and so beautiful. Plus I love that she doesn't like working out thank you soooooo much, you do it because you gotta but I'll never relate to the people who enjoy the full gym experience. Miss diva with the tiktok never thought she would be hiding in the bushes taking photos of Taylor's engagement months later.

I also think it’s crazy that Tamiya I think her name is? The one dancer that they showed clips of her living with her parents and her grandma, and talked about getting an apartment in LA, she was like 19/20 years old when the tour started. Because I’m pretty sure she just posted her birthday on Instagram the other day and she turned 23.😂 like I cannot imagine doing something that big that young and not only that but having such a mean stream huge artist, take a chance on you like that. Granted, makes sense because of how young Taylor started, but still absolutely crazy.

I was trying to fathom why she would be in full face of makeup and jewelry during her workout sash, but we see her without makeup and so many other clips in the video. And I’m kind of wondering if it’s just so she gets used to having makeup and jewelry on while doing the tour and stuff because it is a lot of physical cardio/activity. I would get so overstimulated so quickly having jewelry like that on, so it makes sense that she would train with it. That’s just my opinion.🤷🏼‍♀️😂

My personal opinion of that new blue/white Fearless dress is that it was just an Easter egg for Opalite. Also mildly felt put in my place at the end of the episode because I was literally saying, "But whyyy did you make some of these costume choices," when Taylor says that some things should just remain a beautiful mystery. I'm like, okay, queen. 😅 But she's right. Keeping things up for interpretation is definitely part of an artist's job, and I forget that sometimes.

I do think it’s important to remember stars like Gaga and Pink and Beyoncé when you speak about a more traditional rise of a star. But they are all part of that seemingly last class of organic, traditional physical records, no Disney/Nick rises to fame along with Taylor, it’s true. You are definitely right about the new classes though because they are either the seemingly last class of the Disney generations or Tik Tok up and comers. I don’t know much about Olivia Dean, but she seems like a rare one that might be breaking that new mold? Social media and digital media has made it so you needing to get your physical demos in the room with a record exec are long gone, but I’m sure there’s a lot of hustle we don’t see on the ground in this new age of acquiring fame.

I do think we read too much into things as a fandom, but I do think it says a lot that she jumped out of that car with the idea, a clear directorial vision for what it needed to be, a very unusual yellow sweatshirt, and then was clearly shown having walked to a specific area of the stadium to film it (cause she had to walk back to people to in a different area to talk to her team/switch her sweatshirt, etc). I think assuming that Taylor doesn’t have a plan is silly to do because Taylor herself has told that she does most things intentionally even if it’s not all things. I’m not sure they ever mean as much as people want them to mean, but just cause she’s quick and efficient at executing doesn’t mean things aren’t purposeful. She clearly operates that way whenever she can. (Watching her direct music videos demonstrates that beautifully.) We are clowns but she loves to lay eggs.

While there were clearly delays with the Rep costume, I fully feel like had the Rep re-recording been going well that she would/could have used it as a reveal. I don’t think it was insane to clown that the lack of change ment something. I do really get the sense with Taylor that she plans and then pivots and abandons plans as need be. Who knows what her initial roll out of the re-records would have looked like had Rep TV gone well, she never needed to write TTPD, never met Travis, etc? It’s funny, I was listening to “the sports gossip show” podcast (exactly what it sounds like lol) and the hosts (2 millennial sports journalists who are also swifties) were saying that Taylor runs the eras tour better than most nfl teams are run, and that she’s so gifted at getting the most out of people. I think this doc and so many concert clips give us chills over and over because we feeel how the total of what we’re seeing is even greater than the sum of the parts. Her leadership so so so matters! They also made the observation that Taylor doesn’t seem to try or pretend to be friends with everyone, she’s clearly the boss, and that’s actually super respectful! She treats everyone well, pays them what they are worth to her, and elevates everyone’s careers and confidence. If Taylor can’t create magic, she’s a genius (mastermind) at using magic to create her impact on all of us.

I love Bonny describing this episode as cozy because I sent my thoughts about it to a friend after I finished watching it, and I said that, despite how much we get in episodes 1 & 2, episode 3 feels intimate in a way that the first two don’t. I cried sooooo much during this episode 😭 the moment she said "during the tour I was diagnosee with breast cancer" I started sobbing. My mom was diagnosed in 2013 and underwent chemo, radiation and operations. It was such a rough time and I cant imagine how incredibly strong Jeslyn must be. Not only does she go through testing while on tour, putting on a happy face. But also goes through chemo and radiation and immediately hops back on stage as soon as she can. I remember what my mom was like during that time and in no way do I think she could have done it. I wish Jeslyn all the best and much luck on her journey!! (My mom thankfully has been fine all through remission and has been officially cancer free since 2023)

I will say that though Taylor putting in work to get her start is absolutely true, the thing about all those Disney/Nick stars is that they were also doing that same thing before those big studios took a chance on them, and then those studios eventually became the equivalent of a record label because their main role was simply promotion. I think we shouldn't deny the fact that Taylor was only able TO put in that work and visit so many record labels and studio execs because her parents were extremely financially comfortable. Taylor didn't have studio promotion backing her up, but she did have family and monetary support that allowed her to make frequent trips halfway across the country, to move across the country, to rent cars and vans and do radio tours, etc etc. To that end, you could somewhat compare her to someone like Gracie Abrams, another contemporary artist in her orbit that clearly does what she does for the love of the craft, but had a much easier means of accessing the avenues to success because of her family's financial security and notoriety.

I’m not sure I completely agree. Taylor absolutely had the privilege of a supportive family with money that helped her get where she wanted to go, but you could argue the same thing about a lot of the kids who grew up on Disney channel, most of them had their families fly them out to LA for auditions which requires the same privileges to achieve. I think comparing Taylor to Gracie is also really tricky when Gracie has family in the industry, unlike Taylor. Also just to be clear, our conversation on this was not to discredit the hard work or talent that all of these pop girls have, but I still believe it’s harder to come up when you are actively seeking out (by yourself) every performance you do vs being picked up for a Disney show and then having a studio back you in every endeavour you do from there. Taylor’s story is a lot more comparable to the hustle you hear of from artists who are, for lack of a better phrase, past their heyday!

Thank you sm for this ❤️ I think I interpret the fabric issue for the rep bodysuit a different way- I'm a fashion designer and I've ordered from large fabric suppliers and it's very common for a specific fabric to be discontinued and not possible for reorder, unless you order 1000s of metres to do a full production run. I thought it was more that the fabric they had to use for the new one was slightly different due to this issue which meant that the fit of the bodysuit was different, not that they couldn't have made a new one sooner as they could have just used the similar fabric? I.e maybe the stretch of the new fabric was different, or maybe the vertical stretch wasn't as much as previous, which is why the boob cups were so low and not able to be stretched upwards as they had used the old pattern due to the tight timescale and not made a new one specifically for the new fabric- if that makes sense? So I think they could have made a new one before using alternative fabrics, its just that the issues with the new one were because of the fabric change, which their amazing seamstresses were able to solve!

I do think the TikTok reel was an Easter Egg. She wasn't going to tell everyone there "hey, I'm planning this Easter Egg for TS12..." She had it all set up, she brought her cat and she decided where to walk to and stand. The only instructions she gave were to walk around her and pan. That's really all her assistant needed to know. The podcast was broadcasted on Aug 12, and that when she announced it. And the aisle she was in when they panned was A12. As far as the Yellow Brick Road, I think that's still coming someday.
