Am I the only one who feels like she also made a Debut reference (two actually)?? When she’s crawling through the lavender and sits in them, it reminds me of one of the Debut photos where she’s in a silk gown (like the silk gown in this music video), sitting and holding a purple flower (even though it’s not lavender), and with her natural curly hair!! Like the shots have similarities!! And then the feet with the light blue nail polish is practically just like at the beginning of the “Our Song” music video!! I don’t know but I personally see a possible connection! I think that Lavender Haze is probably my favorite Midnights video🫶🏼

The fish in the sky really tripped me up but it immediately felt like an ode to the Lover music video when in the 1989 room, they were in a fishbowl together. In this video, it seems like whenever Taylor tries to look outside of her immediate surroundings, she can see that they're still in a fishbowl. (Pulling back the curtains at the end of course, but also when she sees him on tv "the guy on the screen". Like she's caught up in him and then reality almost reigns her back in.) At the end when she's looking out of the window and then decided to push down the wall, I wonder if that was when they first started being seen together or even when they attended the Golden Globes together. Like they let people into their world a bit. It also reminds me of what y'all said in the Snow on the Beach breakdown in the lyric "my smile is like I won a contest and to hide that would be so dishonest." Like is she ready to share more of their relationship with the world? Just some thoughts haha! Also, interesting to note the "fishbowl" reference here being set in outer space makes me think that even though they're always going to have the public's eyes upon them, they have more space now. It doesn't feel as enclosed as it did in the Lover video. They have freedom and room to roam, even though the public will always be watching. Also makes me think of the "hiding in plain sight" lyric in Dear Reader. Okay, tangent over!! I don't usually pick up on a lot of symbolism during music videos, but I did with this one haha!

Indigo mentioned she just did an album with Aaron Dessner!! Check it out. THEN got home to watch Lavender Haze. Beautiful. A great night of beautifully creative sounds and images.
