TUTORIAL FOR THIS WEEK:  Urban Sketching - Building

I hope you had a great Easter weekend! This week I’ll be making an urban sketching tutorial on how to sketch a building.

Number 2 was one of my favourites from a previous poll where it didn’t win. I love the colored awning with the people. I also found some other interesting buildings to compete against it for your love & votes 😊.

Let me know which building interests you the most and if there anything specific you’d like learn or find challenging.

WHAT'S COMING UP:

Week Starting 8th April: Portraits - Medium size faces (idea: Fun exercises with different materials?)

Week Starting 15th April: Urban Objects - Historic Sailing Boat

Week Starting 22nd April: People Sketching - Older lady holding umbrella

Michelle Moody

Tough choice! I really like them all for different reasons. I want the most challenging one. 🤣

Geertje

Just voted for the third one. I love the composition and the colors

Mary L Doty

I like #3 because of the tower over the road and the multiple levels present with the main building with the road curving around it.

Roz

Like many, I also liked #3. Had it been more colorful, I would have chosen that over #2. Michelle seems to be in the spirit we have been sharing these past weeks and wishing for the most difficult. Would that be #3? Either will be fun!

Kerstin

I like 2 and 3 but 3 a bit more. No matter which one… it will be fun 😃

Joni K

I like #2. It was my favorite when it was in the vote before. I have a hard time deciding how to add details in deep shadow… like under the awning in #2.

Michele Campbell

I love the brightness of no 2 and the candid photos of the people!

Karen

I still like #2. How to get words in tiny places is a challenge for me. I always run out of room.

Nancy Marques

I’ve sketched the Paris one before ! It’s not pretty by any means lol 🫣😝

Lilith Uhler

I voted for 1 because I love the height and all the windowsills.

Katja DeHaney

I voted for #1. It looks like my home town. Also I have seen #3 done before in a video.

Lorna Graham

I think the most challenging will be #3 so let’s go for it 🫣

Petra

I like #2...the white of the buildings, the color in the lower part and people round the consulat ...you know what I meen?😃

Katherine

No. 2 has people in it and I still need practice with that.

Jodi Dawson

I like 1 or 2 both great buildings with a street, people and bikes. Any of the choices will be challenging

Joacir Junior

"I LIKE the third figure because of the slope and the tower at the end of the street."

Bharani Narasimhan

This is a tough choice, but I would say #3. I was so overwhelmed when I went to Rothenburg and did not sketch anything. So #3 it is for me.

carroo

They all look super exciting but I picked number 2. Either way I'm looking forward to the exercise!

Bea

I’d like the third one! I like the architecture and colours 😍
