Really in depth tutorial on my favourite topic Scottie, thanks so much 🙌✍️❤️

Leanne Rees

Your tutorial is so clear and focused. IT really helps me focus on the important things, and not get too overwhelmed. It has helped a lot. Your hand outs are invaluable. great reference material.

Roz

Great tutorial Scottie. I learned so much, particularly your description of the eyeline. I had heard that before in another artist’s video, but frankly, I didn’t “get it.” The color also made such a big difference, bringing those characters to life. Thank you for all that you do for us, Scottie.

Paul Blagbrough

the heads on my skteches always look too small for the body. The height is in propopotion but maybe I dont make them wide enough

Michele Campbell

This was very helpful. I started trying to draw the small sketches and then stopped so I could watch all the way through! I’ve taken notes and now I’m going to try drawing different scenes with different sized people. I’ll add my projects to the chat!

Elly

Great tutorial Scottie, knowing the eyeline has made it so much easier now! I will start sharing as soon as I get the hang of it. I’m new to the group and so excited. Thank you so much!

tricia

I like your tutorials very much! The way you break it into little steps and how you explain them, thanks for that! The platform is also brilliantly organized. I want to get better in watercolor art and therefore are going back tot basic: sketching, drawing. This is very helpfull!

Katherine Morton

how do you know how wide or long to start the head shape. For example. I have done the head shape and then did measurements for the eyes and nose, but found the face looked too long to fit it in. So I am thinking I didn't make the shape of the head wide enough. I hope this makes sense.

Petra

Hi Scottie, there is a lot of drawing work in the lessons and also a lot of fun.You designed the lessons wonderfully, explained them in great detail and so helpful.I will learn a lot, thank you very, very much.

Petra

When I try to sketch people,I usually just do one line with great concentration-:) without any mayor interruptions. Looks it better if I break the line? As a beginner you are nervous about making mistakes and I tense up a bit.

Selina

Such practical tips! Thank you for making sketching people a bit less scary!

Stefanie Rehn

does it matter if my cat has faces that are somewhat representative of cubism? I actually started calling it Picasso's cat! :) This was fun and I have MUCH to practice!

Woon

Hi Scottie, your tutorials are very helpful. Thank you so much. I have a question when watching this tutorial. When you draw small characters you tend to draw a taper on the torso and another taper on legs. What about medium and large characters? I think you don't draw tapers on the torsos but I am not sure whether you intentionally draw the lower part of the legs and the shoes narrower or smaller or just according to the proportion of the reference picture?

Antonio David Gil

Dear Scottie, I've been following your Instagram and Youtube profiles for a while and I've decided to become a member of your Patreon profile to learn how to draw people and improve my urban sketching techniques. I feel a bit stuck and sometimes I don't know what I want to draw. I intend to learn how to draw people, something I've never done, out of fear, and your channel is the solution. With daily work and your recommendations and knowledge, I'm sure I'll get there. Thank you and greetings from Spain.

John Oliver

51 small figures later - I just might be getting the hang of it. Humans are hard - even in small size. lol.

Jennifer P

Did watch this tutorial today and I find it superhard to give my small sketches some colour. Either it is too bulky, too dark or it drops out of the form completely. I know you said that thats okay but in my drawings this looks super weird like people being jellyfis ...I even used a tiny brush but still had this problem. I thought that only dots/specks of colour could help but this just looks weird....

Marie

People Tutorial Projects is the one I found in Collections. Different name, and it doesn't have the same cover as the one shown here in this video, but guessing it's the same content.

Leanne Rees

I am really sorry but I cant find the class that you are refereeing to for people towards the beginning of the video

Hanna

Hmm… I am not sure where to find the attached reference photos that you mention at the bottom of the video… 🤔 what have I missed? Thx

Lynne

Hi thank you for a great tutorial but when my eyeline is at head height on a crowd scene and there are short people, tall people and children standing side by side their heads arent in line? Are they?

Anna

This was so so helpful! Getting the overall silhouette makes sense and love the white for the light side and purple shadows are so much more vibrant than a Grey.

Lisa Kok

This was very helpful Scottie...thank you! Quick question, when you drew the perspective pencil lines out from the vanishing point, how did you determine the space between the pair of lines (which ultimately determines the size of the people).... just eyed it in using the scene (buildings)?

Olga

Hi, Scottie. I’ve completed almost all of your lessons on drawing buildings, and now I’ve decided to move on to learning how to draw people. I opened your first lesson. Thank you so much for all the big work you do. Thank you for the valuable knowledge you share. They say that everything genius is simple — and it’s so true.

Brianna

Your dot method makes things so much easier to comprehend. Thank you for sharing it!
