EDIT: for everyone asking, Hulu for some reason has some videos only in dub. that is why it is back and forth. its just what we have. In terms of sub vs dub. Dub wasnt bad. A lot of characters sounded good. A few not so much lol but we all can have opinions! We just prefer sub, even tho i know in the future there will be some anime we do in fact watch all in dub 👀.

What I don’t get is why people would complain in the first place about this episode(271) being in dub. Like whose voice did you want to hear? Ichigo has damn near no lines. Ulquiorra is basically talking to himself most of the episode and he sounds perfectly fine(nihilistic and monotone(as intended)). Orihime and Uryu are pretty irrelevant in the episode in terms of voice acting.

As a native Japanese speaker ill always be biased toward dub just because I'm lucky enough to understand Japanese. although i personally feel this way i think what's important is that no matter what language people watch it in is their business and at the end of the day we're all fan of the same series and there's no need to belittle others just because of how they choose to watch anime. One of the most goated fights in anime. The animation and the Bleach's amazing osts throughout is on point ofc. I think Ulq should've been number 1 espada based off Segunda Etapa. Ichigo's transformation was too fire, he gave Ulq a run for his money. It's sad how Ulq went out though. At the end he became interested in humans and knowing what a heart is. As many people have already stated, yes 271 felt like a let down. Maybe a way to put it so people who don't understand why it is a big deal would be to ask yourself it you would be satisfied to watch the SuperBowl in black & white while the whole season was in color... The expectation were high since it's one of the most anticipated episode for a lot of watchers. Is the dub watchable? Of course. Is it the end of the world? Of course not. Can we blame the reactor then? Meh, not really, the real culprit being Hulu are messing with us in this key moment for some reason and it does sucks... But I would have appreciated a little bit more consideration for the people who were expecting subs. Maybe they could've use a different source during post to release a sub one, would've fool us at least :) Hope it's not a trend moving forwards, cuz in the near future when there is a certain hand brought to a certain face moment, I'm gonna lose my shit if it's in dub (hoping I didn't jinx it lol). Wow, besides the obvious voice acting downgrade, there's so many lines that are altered from the sub. The dialogue is much more bland and sometimes antithetical e.g Ulquiorra saying he'll try another lanza when the whole point of the next few seconds is to visually show he can spam them at will. Or when he accepts Ichigo's actions as a hollow's before being finished off, when in the sub he's actually mocking him to the very end for "impersonating" one.

Honestly Orihime has been done dirty imo. I kind of just realized how bad when Michelle said that she was surprised she landed the fall when she got at the top. Orihime practices martial arts LOL. You kind of forget because she's such a passive character and is portrayed so helpless. Either way, she's kind of the "Naruto talk-no-jutsu". i have many animes where i feel that way, but i agree Bleach has both great dub and sub i dont have preference when it comes to Bleach dub or sub this is one of few animes that i would recommend in both. Naruto is one of them also but i do find dub Naruto does have waaay better lines on quite alot of important scenes throughout the show that hit much harder

About the description the thing is some shows in the past you guys watched in sub when they should have been dub for example FMAB. I think lot of ppl were asking for it dub and I remember you guys mentioned it would be dub when you watch it (may be wrong) but it ended up sub when FMAB has one of best dubs and dub fans were pretty upset bc its rare we get dub. Not trying to sound whiney or complaining at all I get sub is your preference . It's bc we usually get done dirty. But im glad you guys are open for dub in future. Anyone complaining about dub vs sub is a new gen anime fan from 2019 onwards. Back in the day there wasn’t this whole debate over which was better we just enjoyed anime for what it was. I grew up watching bleach, Inuyasha, Naruto, cowboy bebop etc… all on toonami along with many others and it was always in dub, until the days of kissanime to where you could sometimes choose to watch it in sub. And back in the day dub was, and still is, really good especially FMAB, Inuyasha, Bleach and a few others were known for being just as good if not better than the sub. So everybody just needs to stop bitching about the sub vs dub because they’re both good and just enjoy the reactions, I hope you all have a blessed day.

Most of the people that come here and watch other people react to the anime is because they have already seen the anime but they are able to experience a first time reaction through the reactors. That’s why we watch people react to stuff to experience some of the hype again. But for the sub people we never watched the dub so we have never experienced it so for them to watch it in dub strips away that excitement. That’s how I think it goes it’s just disappointing and it was very distracting to watch the episode and I unfortunately didn’t feel the hype like in other episodes they watched

[Tidbits][Lot of Reading] - Always loved the climax of their conversation on the heart. Ichigo fights with his heart to protect those around him, Ulqiorra in an attempt to understand the heart took ichigo's heart quite literally, and what is a human without a heart...We call that a monster. Ichigo became a monster to protect those around him, tho as we saw with how he almost hurt orihime, a monster ultimately hurts everything. This plays into a bigger theme of ichigo refusing to accept that monstrous side of him, this entire arc is supposed to show ichigo becoming more hollow-like (which is why his time on the mask increases). The issue is that he still doesn't accept that side, he tries to use it as a tool rather than understand that it's as much as himself as the good parts. Ultimately we are all a bit of black and white and denying either of those helps no one and hurts everything. - Episode 270 Kubo does well at using shonen tropes while flipping them into a more narrative-based thing. Here you have Ulqiorra telling Ichigo to use his best move (which usually is simply to flex power in Shounen), however, Ulquiorra is doing it to prove a point because he doesn't understand how humanity works, he's trying to prove that Ichigo's actions are pointless and foolish, Ulquiorra is an existence far from human because humans are emotional, and emotions craft irrationality...it's the same reason he questioned why Orihime uses her shield. Again this isn't just some antagonist proving their power, rather its a character who can't understand why the Main Cast do what they do, and wants to prove why its the wrong way to be. - The anime clearly censored what Ulquiorra does to Uryu. He 100% Takes his arm in the manga. - Episode 271 is a very important stamp in Orihime's development. Her goal is to be able to stand alongside her allies and actually help. This arc set's off with her going to Aizen in an attempt to save her friends by sacrificing herself, this occurred for 2 reasons. : 1 she doesn't believe she could help in any other way because she's not like Ichigo : 2 she attempts to mimic Ichigo's flawed habit of sacrificing himself to save others So we end up here, with everything she did being pointless, reaffirming that she can't do anything, everyone is dropping and she can't help. The lesson here is that she should have had faith in herself and her loved ones, she needs to stop trying to be like Ichigo and work on what she excels in. - Episode 272 It always struck me when ichigo kept going on about "protecting her", because he still, deep down, feels responsible for his moms death, he couldn't protect her back then and here he felt that happening all over again, so much so that he was willing to hurt a friend not to experience those feelings again. It's a good showing of how scars can really be a detriment. (side note: Also loved how much ichigo hated winning via a monstrous form, its a good message, that their are things the we simply should not condoned even if its the easy way towards victory.) - I've already typed too much but, Ulquiorra saying "I have no meaning" simply because he's weaker than the enemy is meant to express Nihilism, a theme that plays into his reason for following Aizen, which deals in an entire philosophy by Nietzsche knows as the "ubermensch", but that's a story for another day. - The creator of Bleach, Tite Kubo, has a club subscription service called Klub Outside where he answers questions and offers exclusive content. There we learned that it is in fact possible for other Arrancars to reach "Segunda Etapa" a second release.

Of all episodes, this one? The dub is absolute garbage. Notice how the voices sounded just like a filler to a moving animation? All forms of intensity of this most important fight was lost. Just them talking on the 3rd episode had more grit and emotions about it. The moment people use the word "dub wasnt bad" "i dont mind dub" already proves its not as good, or the description would have been words like excellent etc

To understand this whole situation a bit more deeply, I'd like to remind u of the fact that each of the Espada represent one aspect of death. Ulquiorra's is nihilism! Generally speaking, nihilism is a reflection of emptiness, despair and the belief that human life has no meaning or purpose. During the fight Ulquiorra questions Ichigo a lot about his resolve to fight and oppose him, not understanding Ichigo constantly getting up despite not having any chance of winning. But what really triggered the chain of reactions a lot earlier is Ulquiorra not understanding Orihime. He tried to provoke and sway her humanity, make her switch sides, yet it never worked. Both Ichigo and Orihime had their own battles here; Ichigo physically while Orihime mentally. In the end she won the mental game, making a hollow understand what it means to be human and have a "heart". That's why Ulquiorra's death is one of the more poetic and beautiful I've seen in animanga. If there's one thing I'd recommend people to re-watch then it's the moments and parts where he is present... leading all the way up to his end.

No hate to you guys, but I will try to explain my and maybe others' points about SUB/DUB. Since I'm not a native English speaker, I feel united with you because you watch anime in sub, it's the same way I watched it, just with other language subtitles. Two main points why I watch reactions are: 1. To feel nostalgia watching the show I used to watch 10+ years ago. 2. Watch your reaction and feel pleasure as if I were watching it with friends. When you switched the language (I know it was due to Hulu), I missed the first point, and for me personally, the pleasure of watching it dropped by 50% since I lost the 1st main point and only have 2nd one. I hope you understand why I and some other people here are a bit upset. Again, no hate to you guys, just it is what it is. And I will still continue to enjoy watching your reactions.

If i bought a copy but i lose it or something, there's nothing wrong with pirating the game. There are people (like me🙂) who are still learning english (it's my 5th language) who are more comfortable with reading, writing than ''listening'' and speaking english. I don't know if that makes sense🫠. So since i'm used to listening in japanese, i'm more focused on the sub. In the contrary, if it's in english i always try to listen the anime, listen R&G comments on top of it and read the subtitles at the same time😭. And i'm not debating about the sub/dub situation to make it clear (i actually don't mind it, it's like taking english class for me haha). I agree with you, but like 30% of their viewers are japanese. It explains how dub FMAB lost the dub/sub poll. 100% of their japanese viewers vote sub, so it pretty much skews every poll. so it they do a vote, there's still a decent chance it will be sub. I think ron has mentioned wanting to experience DBZ the way every American kid did growing up tho, so there's hope. Imo DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho are the only 2 anime an English viewer NEEDS to watch dub. I have preferences here and there for other shows, but those are the only 2 I'd be bummed if they watch sub. Here for the ride regardless tho

I can’t help but sigh man. Respectfully, I would’ve happily waited longer for the reaction if it meant finding an alternative viewing method to keep things consistent. Especially for these episodes that are much more important than others. Dropped the ball for me, I understand others don’t have as much of a gripe though. Dramatic much? As a half cuban, the english dub actually pronounces all of the Spanish techniques correctly-. The Japanese Spanish pronunciations are pretty cringe, and in bleach there are many Spanish names. Bleach has over 300 episodes, it's not ruining the show that they watched 2 of them in dubbed.

Oh youre actually tweaking! I'm an avid sub only watcher, but there are a couple dubs that are actually pretty fantastic. Bleach is without a doubt one of them. All dubs are NOT created equal and I need yall to understand that. 90% of dubs are indeed horrendous, but put some respect on the 10 😤

I am not sure if this is or isnt a hot take, but thats my take on it. While Bleach has very good and insane Dub in terms of the overall anime industry, it is true that the sub is more preferable in the bleach fanclubs. The higher pitch and reverb of the scream and the whole fight noises they two make, it just makes for a more overwhelming suprise as to what a monster orihime woke up. But by all means, dont let it get to you, ppl will always argue for what they like most and while it can be embarassing it also shows how much passion all these people have for this manga/show and the industry. :) Enjoy Bleach and all that it has to offer :) <3

There's definitely plenty of insults towards them in this comment section, the last one, and if you go to 273, even more there. Some are for the dubs. Some are getting mad at them for constantly yelling at Orihime or for Yamamoto to join. Also. Some of yall are so goofy lol. Like what is wrong with you all? Who cares if it's sub or dub. Especially when theres been what, two episodes they watched in dub? I watch for Rice and Ginger, not the show. They could react to this in spanish or tagalog and I'd still chime in to watch as long as theres english subtitles. Everyone is so entitled lol.

Ulquiorra's death scene man 😢 So sad, but so good. Also, Ulquiorra's dub VA is probably my favorite dub VA. It's like his dub VA isn't doing the usual dub VA style, so it's actually pretty good. I was happy to see that you switched back to the sub in 272, though. Also, guys, the streaming service they're using only has dub available for some episodes, so let's calm it down a bit
