Varonika Singer

You guys realize that Gihun didn't start eating until the baby ate right? I thought that was wholesome.

Varonika Singer

I'm so happy that you guys stopped hating so hard on Gihun and realized that you were. He had a moment and he came out of it so fast. He had to kill someone to survive anyway. He projected his anger and his faults onto Daeho because he felt betrayed, so it made it easy to eliminate him. After he kills him, you can see his eyes widen like "omg what did I do?" and he gets worse into depression. The older mother dying really made him stand back up and snap out of it. Also realizing that he has to help Junhee. Gihun is still such a selfless man.

I’m so confused by this read on 333 😭 he told Jun-hee to get an abortion, he said he’d die for her not the baby, and he looked at all the money before voting. the guy has been iffy this whole time. he killed a bunch of people to get more money not to protect his ex girlfriend. I don’t hate him but i’m not betting on him like y’all are to save the baby

I hate that it irritates me so much that 20+ people and no one knows how to properly jump a rope! You lift your right leg and just slightly jump with your left leg, and then land on your right leg, with the legs split as far as possible so that you have a larger window in which the rope is between your two legs. Basically, you just “step over” the rope. It is much easier to time, and drains much less stamina… Honestly, it is not even unimaginable that one could do this while carrying someone. (The gap will still be a challenge. But as long as you can make that one jump, the rest is actually pretty easy.) This annoys me as much as the tug of war episode. Their forms were soooo bad then as well. I guess Koreans do not play rope jumping or tug of war at school at all? But I thought these were supposed to be Korean kids games…

Tanmay

There isn’t much room on the platform though. The players need to have one foot in front to move forward and can’t lift just one up at a time without having the other foot hit by the rope.

Yorutia

The bridge is plenty wide enough for it to work. And actually it is easier to move forward with this method because each time you “step over” the rope you just have to step a bit forward. In any case, bottom line is, it would still be infinitely better than jumping hard with both legs.

Sultan

Try doing ANYTHING while your life is at stake. Whether it’s a gun pointed at your head, or 1000 foot drop beneath you at all times.

Yorutia

If my life is on the line, you better bet I am gonna use a method I know is easier and more reliable.

Alex

Min-Su was so innocent and cute and the games have messed him up so heavy

Alix

33:35 That’s an iPhone lol.

Alix

You don’t take into account being scared for your life. 😂

Alix

Easy to say when it’s not actually in danger, you’ve never experienced anything close to that game irl.

It's the same moral question, "is humanity worth fighting for." That requires you to see each decision anew, will you keep fighting for them, will you keep a moral, even after seeing what they can do? It's not just what you will do in dire circumstances, it is what will you choose to do after that. It's double sided, it's not that InHo needs to think he is above other humans, it's that it doesn't matter.. "humanity is not worth it." It's kind of the consequence of if you have or have lost, faith in humanity, if you will chose to find it worthy.

Yorutia

Exactly. None of us has actually experienced anything like that, so who are we to assume that their brains will just stop to function all together? I mean, the show has showed us multiple times that these players are able to make smart choices and strategise in stressful situations. And people are diverse - some people might actually think more clearly at high stakes situations. And, I am not even talking about coming up with genius new strategies for doing something. If you KNEW how to do something, I actually think it’s more realistic that your brain will default to fall back to that under stressful situations. What was saying is I am surprised that no one KNEW how to jump rope. Also btw, to be clear, I am not even criticising the show. It made me feel anxious and frustrated watching them jump “in the wrong way”, which are exactly the emotions that the show should be inducing.

My take on InHo’s final question to GiHun, “do you still have faith in people?”, was more than talking about the way the players voted. He just showed GiHun that he himself joined the games, manipulated him into a friendship and now is in front of him as the Frontman. He’s still trying to prove to GiHun that there is no such thing as faith in people. People will be trash in the games, people will be trash out the game. This is just the way the world works and you will never be able to change the world

Yk I wanna see you guys make an edit to your takes in this episode with the results in the last episode. It’s so clip-able I’m dying

RCG

I was wrong again. I didn’t think 222 would die this game - but then again, I also couldn’t imagine how 333 or even Gi-hun could have saved her, even with more time on the clock. Also, the scene where the baby was introduced as an official player felt kind of forced, to be honest. They were literally fine with leaving the game at 5.6 billion, but when it dropped to "just" 4.9, they suddenly got furious and were willing to go as far as killing a baby. They’re definitely not good people, but I also don’t think they’re ruthless criminals jaded to killing. It’s one thing when people die in the games, but killing a baby for a little more money feels like an outrageous stretch.

Noooo~ Jun-Hee 😭 But the drug I think is supposed to be fetanyl (they come in skittles colors off the street, because they drip liquid fet into an oxy 30 and re-compress it with dye) if it is Fetanyl, he very likely could go into withdrawals after 2 pills because those pills don't have measured doses. You can sometimes get a tiny hit, or a HUGE hit (which is why they're so dangerous) and so where he got a huge hit last time, he would have at least a day of withdrawals if he didn't take this second pill. 2nd pill in, he's gonna have a rough time coming down and clearing it out of his system and where he doesn't have an endless supply of water, he could die from it. This is such a good moral dilemma show, omg! I wish I could write like this lol and personally, it's a good one for me to make me think about my philosophies, because honestly, I'm probably on the crux of nihilism and don't necessarily think In-Ho is wrong 😅 like there was a time where I went a little off the rails because my faith in humanity had been so twisted and broken, that I genuinely wished the whole 2012 world ending thing was true. That we'd be wiped out in some quick explosion because we are an invasive species. A parasite taking over the planet and destroying everything, including ourselves. So at that time, I probably would have been fully on In-Ho's side. It took me many many years of therapy and rebuilding my faith in people to get to a place where I believe in second chances now and believe people can change, but I'm still on the edge of being so jaded that when I say "people can choose to be better every new day" that my brain goes "but most people don't" so this show is challenging my own conflicting thoughts and testing the work I've done to try and get to a better mindset. (BTW, you guys and BTS were 2 big factors in keeping me in a healthy place when my faith started to crumble again, so I truly appreciate your videos and commentary) A lot of my practice in Seiðr witchcraft (Norse paganism) has become about understanding that everything is a balance. People are equally light and dark from the outset and growth is the ability to learn to keep homeostasis and find that balance of negative and positive, bad and good. This is why my comments are always me riding the fence, or talking about nuance and grey area lol but ya, this writing for the show is like purposely tipping the scales in a safe and controlled way to make people think about balance and faith in humanity at a very high-tension point in time where there's so much disparity between groups of people and it adds to the discussion of tribalism (Sapiens is the book that I believe brought this discussion to life for people who don't study Anthropology or Sociology, ect.. basically, normies who don't go out of their way to study humans. It's a good book) I don't really have a point here, I'm just fangirling over the show's clever way of making us consider deep, moral dilemmas. A dream of mine to write in this style.

This has to be the weirdest analysis ever... "I guess Koreans do not play rope jumping or tug of war at school at all?" There is no ONE right way to jump rope. Also, don't get why this frustrates you this much... What the show portrayed makes very logical sense.

Yorutia

Wait. There seems to be a misunderstanding. I am not frsutrated AT the show. And I never said/implied it is not a logical portrayal. (But I guess what I said could indeed sound that way…) I am frustrated because I know the character could have had a much easier time but instead I have to see them suffer more than they needed to. The show/characters made me feel frustrated but I am not frustrated at the show, if that makes sense.

Finally catching up on squid game and somehow this episode keeps stop playing for me at 45:30 and no matter how oft I reload or try to skip a few secons/minutes it just won't stop playing after that part. Anyone else have a similar issue?
