Part 1 is considered by pretty much every single fan to be the worst part mostly cuz its kinda generic all things considered even back in the 80s when the manga first came out especially when you look at everything that came after it but thats okay it did everything it needed to for this to become a series and every part just gets better and better so I cant wait for you guys to see it.

So when this happen back in the old days of the manga is was a shock because having the main character of a young boys manga die was ground breaking. It did open the door for Araki the author to experiment more with his manga.

It is the most by the books part. A real refection of the 80s manga writing formula. Later parts are considered better because they are trend setters in many respects.

I wouldn’t say that it’s generic, it’s still plenty bizarre, but it really fine tunes the bizarreness in future parts and part 1 is definitely a little formulaic. The plot is very simple good guy gets stronger and beats bad guy.

Nah it is. Outside of hamon this is just every single vampire story ever. Not to mention the not even remotely hidden fist of the northstar inspiration which isnt generic nowdays but back in the 80s it was since everyone was doing that.

I can appreciate it as someone who grew up in the 2000s, it's quite original and refreshing to me. It is very cliche, but it came off like a parody, like the villains are so cliche evil, and the heroes so cliche good, and to me it's very refreshing to have a gentlemen-type protagonist that fights for justice and genuine good. These days that's so rare probably because it was so overdone and became cliche, but amidst everything else we get these days? I kinda want more protagonists like this. I also think it's sort of perfect in a way for Jonathan to die and lose in the end, even after sacrificing so much... It shows that good may not always prevail, but it's still worth fighting for. Villains for the sake of villains, though... Yeah, I don't like that one as much, but I think it fits in Jojo as it is intentionally over the top, I mean bizarre is literally in the title. Things and people don't need to make sense, it can simply be and you just have to accept it😅

I think the opening for this episode was a special one with added sound effects and new animations, it's pretty good, I suggest watching the opening for the last episodes of each part :)

Part 2 is only 17 episodes and they are still decently paced. Part 3 might be more justified to make that switch since that is a full 48 eps but I dont think any of their current multi-episode series will be wrapped up by then to free up enough time. The pacing doesnt get that slow until 2nd half of Part 3 though so really its fine for at least another 40ish weeks imo..

Don't talk too fast. Part 1 is one of my favorite, not because of its objective quality, but because of how surprising the story is. Killing your main character and changing setting/era was mindblowing. The pace is very fast too, and I like how hilarious the situations are even if sometimes I have the impression it's not on purpose in part 1... But if that parody vibe was on purpose, it's genius tbh, so over the top. I still prefer part 4 and part 2, but for example I prefer part 1 over part 3 which was too long imho (I love the beginning and the end of part 3, but the middle part was boring sorry). Part 4 may be long too but I liked how varied it was, each episode bringing new ideas. Part 4=best. I'm watching part 5 right now.

Jojo is pretty much basically the only anime that is as forgiving as it is with 1 episode a week since most of the show is episodic until the final arc lol

I was also shocked at the end of part one when I first watched it! I wanted to see more of Jonathan. But don't worry, you're in good hands! I agree with some of the commenters that Part 2 is actually one of my favourite parts, along with Part 3. It'll be fun!

I think Part 1 is under rated & over hated, but…. it is hard to say that other parts aren’t also just as good or better, they’re all so good.

I think part 1 is only a "slog" for those of us who are rewatching and know what will come next. Part 1 can be very enjoyable for first-time watchers, and is in my opinion essential for a proper Jojo experience.

Hey Wes and Steph! Loving the reactions! Wanted to let yall know that the openings for JoJos changes! Like, they have special versions of the openings for basically every part. Although for Parts 1 and 2, the only difference was an SFX opening (having cool sound effects of the OP instead of the song). They do that in Parts 3+, but they have more different changes that occur in the openings. I think it might be a spoiler to say exactly which episode is going to have the changes, so it's probably best to not be told when, but in order to watch the OP changes, it might be best to start watching the opening regularly when y'all start reaching the end of a Part! Like, maybe watching the OPs when you're within 5 episodes of the Part finishing.
