Didn’t realise this is what we were getting today but very glad. PEAKKKK!

EddyTheMoza

same but it's such a nice surprise!

Gichii

best MHA film in my books Thank you for entering my night with this peak reaktion c: <3

Phantom Demon

They also didn't think any heros were on the island

Tony

Twice would be a fantastic hero for Nabu Island if they can only have a singular hero (and he turned away from villainy obviously). Take away the minor stuff like Ice and charging a car battery, he can be all over the island.

Dan

Poor Ojiro with his tail quirk 😂

Kindyh Bordat

The movie is extremely good, the animation was really peak. Still, can't forgive the studio for modifying the entire saison around this movie. Litteraly the best arc of all MHA ruined.

Marko Genter

Guys you arent looking at the big picture when it comes to the chimera lol. He litterally says that everyone calls him a monster and probably treats him as such so how can he just go and play a sport or work in construction when nobody will let him do it cuz they think hes a monster (also who knows how sports work in this world but thats besides the point). like I know it feels like this type of thing wouldnt exist in this society but there is a difference between a guy with a bird head and someone who is 100% not human, in fact hes anything but human hilariously.

Tony

I love how pissed you 2 got at just how bullshit Chimera is. Guy really is just OP

Marko Genter

Since you guys were blown away by the animation at the end like all of us were I think we need to pay respect for the animator that animated that part which is Yutaka Nakamura who also made the final fight with Deku and All might in the last my hero movie. dude is a legend, one of the greatest animators in the industry that he has created other animators who are trying to animate in his style. you have seen his work in FMAB, OPM, Frieren, Mob psycho and of course My hero both movies and the normal show which is often thought of as his best work. All might vs the big nomu in season 1, deku vs todoroki is season 2, All might vs All for one and Deku vs bakugo in season 3, Deku vs overhaul and Endeavor vs The nomu in season 4 and the Ilda vs Mudman scene in season 5, pretty much every single incredible scene was done by him and the craziest thing, hes 59 years old. he is essentially the All might of the anime animation industry lmao.

Jack Witt

Your discussion about Chimera will hurt in hindsight. I know it did me.

Manuel Eduardo Cao

Deku: Kachan doesn't remember anything about the transfer of One for All Kachan: Well, of course I managed to change the weather with just my quirk. I am awesome like that. Katsuma: I am even more determined to be a hero like Deku and Bakugo than I was before seeing that fight Mahorago: And I am even more worried about my brother wanting to be a hero than I was before seeing that fight

Jack Witt

"Why so hard?" MHA Infinity War and Endgame need to be built up to.

RCG

Storywise, pretty generic and maybe even a bit absurd, to be honest but it’s crazy how good the fights in these movies are animated. 10/10. Little fun fact: Horikoshi (the author) said in an interview that Deku sharing/transferring OFA was one of the possible endings he had in mind for the main story of MHA.

The Anime Dude

Glad my boy BakuGOAT got a lot of screen time and great moments in this movie, I’d never seen it before! The animation & music towards the end went wild! Need a crossover with Deku, Tanjiro, & Johnathon Joestar so we can see who’s the most polite one of them all. 16:15 I don’t even speak Japanese fluently, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when localizers take great liberties with subtitles/translations that don’t portray the same meaning - that’s such a rabbit hole. 😭 i.e. When I hear the characters literally speak English & say “Merry Christmas” & then the subtitles say “Happy Holidays”, it goes all over me.

Juichiro

power scaling you say. . . its a narrative device indeed.

The Anime Dude

Yea, it’s one of those things where he is strong - and he knows he’s strong, but he faces discrimination for other reasons related to his quirk & how it makes him look… Idc if I have the ultimate quirk strength wise - if it makes me look like a vending machine or washing machine or whatever other kind of non-human monstrosity you can think of & I can’t turn it off??? I’m also gonna be mad at the world, lol.

Oh man, I really enjoyed rewatching this movie with you guys! This was Horikoshi's original ending for My Hero Academia with Deku passing OFA to Bakugo, but as he wrote the story, he felt he evolved beyond that ending. But it's still really cool to see it play out here. A couple details I really like in the movie are that when Nine holds Mahoro hostage, the animation for Katsuma running out for her is almost the exact same as when Deku ran out to save Bakugo from the sludge villain in episode 2. Katsuma's legs moved without thinking, the mark of a hero! Also when Deku and Bakugo show up right after to save them, Deku attacks the villain, and Bakugo saves Mahoro, mirroring their lesson last season, where Deku has to learn to win, and Bakugo has to learn to save, because BOTH are essential for heroes. After Bakugo and Deku fire off their Detroit smashes, and get ready to move again, Bakugo is visibly in much more pain, while Deku who's used to breaking his bones is ready to continue immediately. And finally, it's pretty obvious but I think it's really sweet that Deku tells Katsuma "You can become a hero" just like All Might told him! 😊

Klinch

This movie is very Anime 😂. A very fun watch tho.

Tsatsa

At the start of the movie, there’s a hero with a blonde hair and black stripes who has an electricity quirk, and because of the similarities, fans call her denki’s mom lol

Blocklv55

As someone who lives in Japan and speaks Japanese, it can be annoying when the subtitles are different from what is being said, but when it is common changes like "onee-chan" into a character's name, you just get used to it; however, when it involves big changes that alter the meaning entirely, it is very frustrating haha

Tsatsa

Exactly! It’s not about the power, it’s about the looks. Imagine a person with horribly disfigured face had a really really beautiful voice. And that person steals a lot. By your logic, they just have to become a singer and not steal because they have a beautiful voice! But in reality, it’ll be extremely hard to get a job as a singer when most people are disgusted when they look at you. It’s easy for us to say they shouldn’t give up and keep doing the right thing, but not everyone can be that strong mentally.

RCG

I know what you mean but the “become a singer” example is so bad, sorry. You can 100% become a popular and successful singer/musician without ever showing your face. Obviously, there are limits to HOW popular you can get and it’s also harder if you want/have to do it that way but it’s not like it’s impossible. Also, I feel like in the MHA world, it’s not that uncommon for people to look weird and still be a hero or whatever they want to be. Yes, they probably have a hard time as kids or even later on depending on where they live but I mean, we have a fucking washing machine as the No. 8 hero and a killer whale who is also pretty high up. In our class, we have a guy with a bird head and a guy with tentacle arms and they’re still on their way to becoming heroes instead of turning criminal. If you’re as powerful as that Chimera guy, there’s no way he couldn’t have earned a living somehow. Maybe it’s just poorly written, I don’t know. I feel like it’s a card the author pulls whenever he wants an easy justification for someone to turn “evil” but then you have a lot of other examples that show it doesn’t have to be that way. Yes, people are different and grow up under different circumstances but then show me more of that, maybe, instead of just saying, “He looks like a monster, so nobody likes him, so he's a villain now”

Aleister Crowley

Still slightly invalidated by Gang Orca, Hound Dog, Cementos, Ectoplasm, and especially Centipeder( Sir Nighteyes sidekick that was a freaking centipede). If they can become heroes chimera could've made it, even if he didn't want to be a hero it makes more sense than being a villain but I guess Wes was right none of these guys had intelligence quirks

Linards Mariuss Bisenieks

same hair color doesn't mean they are related :D If that were the case then everyone with the same color in real life would be related and two people dating with the same color would be incest lmao

Kasturi

The black dots are called screentones! back in the days when it was printed only in black and white, people came up with a way to show greys with just black and white colours. slowly, as print media evolved people started using it as 'effects' to give something a classic comicbook look

Hayate

I'm not going to spoil anything, let's say that you guys lack informations right now for why quirk racism is such a big motivation for the chimera guy :) Anyway, this is my favorite Hero Academia movie !

Gopal

Their plans being dumb kinda make sense actually. They're all about the strong doing what they want. Sneaking in and making tactical plans would go against that ideology. Even if it's smarter they would want to hold their pride of their ideology.

Mia

Out of context, Stephanie talking about how they could have more easily taken the boy is killing me 💀

Renden

It have a theory that they intentionally set up and directed these movies so that they can be *technically* canon, but then not directly impact the characters or the story. Which is great, it lets us see some really cool stuff, but it is going to be mostly neglected in the rest of the story. Basically, it happened, but it also kinda didn't.

grasshorse

this is the general rule for most anime movies that aren't adapting something specific! so you're totally right, it's just like anime-only filler.

yuuno scraia

it may also depend on where they lived... some regions might be more tolerant to the "monstrous" types

Marko Genter

funny that you say cuz you are right but its also spoilers so cant really talk about it

Derpin

Best hero Invisible Girl. Hardly noticed her at all this movie. lol. It's kind of crazy how underutilize she is but somehow the guy with the tail quirk gets more action.

Tom

16:20 yes reading subtiles and being able to listen to japanese is very anioing my japanese is not very good but I understand half the things peolpe in anime say and when it is different it is so anoiing but thats nearly every line

Tom

Just checking not cannon right

SB

Shigaraki hair isn’t white, it’s light blue but that theory could still be right. I just hear people say that a lot lol. Amazing reaction guys and I can’t wait to for to see the other movies!!

domi

Id say about 5% canon

Tom

Thx

KuroNekoMataXIII

I know Endeavor is the least favorite hero after knowing what he did to his family, but I thoroughly loved this era of the whole show where he turns into this dad that just wants Shoto's attention. Sort of a doting dad if you will. Like being bummed when he doesn't reply to texts or at the end of this with hugging him. Yelling "SHOTOOOOOOOOO!" is sadly a vocal stim for me from time to time.
