Love this episode! Fun fact: the creature on Tahani, the Niednagel, is named after the show’s digital effects supervisor, David Niednagel. It had the factors of being both an homage to him as well as fitting into Mike Schur’s love of crazy names for characters.

The next episode is the season finale -- remember, this season's first episode was double-length, so it still adds up to 13. (This isn't a spoiler, it was widely announced to initial viewers.) I love how even after all this time knowing how The Good Place works, you guys can't stop yourselves making predictions. :) Hey, we should all enjoy ourselves however we like!

Mr. Niednagel certainly deserves all the recognition in the world. Even after all the times I've watched, I'm blown away by the effects he achieves in every episode on a TV budget.

I love that Michael's realization basically boils down to "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism"

You know I just realized that this means Chidi's S1/S2 "realization" that he's in The Bad Place because he drank almond milk even though he knew it was bad for the environment, which was played for laughs at the time, was... actually completely legit in this system! Like, it happens he had bigger flaws but the almond milk thing would legit have gotten him into the Bad Place even if he hadn't.

I think that's a little reductive to what she show's saying. We could read it like, the things we do today affect multitudes more people than they did 500 years ago, yet the personal connections we make have never been fewer; machines that give us power in abundance has left our hearts wanting. And the solution to this is just to work at it.
