Kidney Now!

"A guy crying about a chicken and a baby? I thought this was a comedy show" is a reference to a major plot point in the finale of M*A*S*H.

Thank you! We were sure that was what the bit was referencing, but I haven't seen that episode since I was a little kid, and can't remember that reference.

The songg also featured Sara Bareilles, who actually plays the main character in another Tina Fey show, Girls5Eva

Again, I have to comment that they use Dr. Spaceman for illegal and immoral things so often that they just reflexively use him for things they absolutely should never use him for... like a kidney transplant.

What a way to find out your sister is dead...

Have you made your donations to the Mary J. Blige Foundation to Find the Loch Ness Monster?

Peter

Mickey Rourke and Jenna would be an endlessly toxic relationship. Just a real super fund site.

Peter

Sheryl Crow and Adam Levine were just ready with those European accents.

Peter

I didn't take this song seriously until they started talking. Then I really paid attention.

The Beastie Boys are right, if I had two dog attacking me, I would want just one!

it's fine, not the same style as 30 rock and kimmy schmidt unfortunately. The actress who plays pete's wife is one of the main characters, and she's fantastic.

Peter

By the way, none of them got paid, not even Sheryl. They released the song on iTunes with all the proceeds going to a kidney foundation.

Also, the one from The Wire is another of my favorites and a great musician, Steve Earle.

I also forgot that The Wire theme song was written by Tom Waits (maybe tied with Costello for me) and each season it's recorded by a different artist (original Tom version in season 2). However, Steve Earle records the Season 5 version and it's honestly the only time I've ever liked the cover version better than Tom's original.
