Fantastic choice, kudos to Jeff. (Maybe give us a week or two's notice and post which service you are using to watch the movie). The origin of the word 'gaslighting' comes from the movie Gaslight, which was Angela Lansbury's first role. 🙂

Von Ryan's Express is my guilty pleasure Frank Sinatra movie, also set in WW2.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed this one. I thought you'd appreciate how some of the themes are still prevalent over 60 years later. The directing is amazing, as is the acting. Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Oscar and won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress that year. One little detail you might have missed: when Raymond's mother and stepfather were trying to come up with an exact number of Communists, she looked at him pouring the ketchup on his steak. It was Heinz 57 ketchup, so that was the number they used. Next time I really will try to find a film that doesn't go so dark! We all need a little more light in our lives.

I refuse to watch the remake of Manchurian Candidate. I also refuse to watch any Willy Wonka that’s not Gene Wilder. I won’t watch the Footloose remake either. Why mess with excellence?

You mentioned how cool it is to see NYC from another era and recognize it from today. The Central Park scene where the steps and stone archways were appeared in an episode of The Gilded Age.

We have so many movies left to get through that people have bought. Sometimes we don't have two weeks notice.

Just saw an HBO Max ad for a remake of Like water for Chocolate as a mini series. Come on! The original was amazing!
