“Are you taking notes during a criminal conspiracy” one of the funniest lines of the series. This episode features the first appearances by two of the most dangerous characters on the series, Chris and Snoop.

Couple details just want to make sure you've caught. Jimmy's one night stand was with the campaign manager Carcetti approached. Second is Omar's boyfriend was the one that shot Tosha. If you go back to the shootout he was blind firing backwards at same time she gets shot in head. Thats what the argument was with the 3 of them in this episode. I missed that detail first few times I watched this.

Clay Davis at Avon’s party makes sense he knows where Stringers money comes from and he doesn’t want any issues. He doesn’t have any fear of being seen because he doesn’t expect any actual voters to be at that party and he is so full of himself he thinks he can pretty much do whatever he wants. It is interesting how things have changed in the city over the last 20 years back then the police were getting most of the heat for the crime and now the police are sort of off the hook because it’s the rest of the justice system that is the majority of the problem.

Stringer vs Avon is bloody chaos vs imperfect civilization, which is the same conflict at the heart of Hamsterdam. Stringer and Bunny are fighting the exact same regressive forces, just from opposite sides of the ledger. They both want the bodies to stop dropping so they can do their jobs. But Avon, Marlo, Carver, and Herc would say there’s no world where the bodies aren’t the price of business. We’ll see who’s right.

Okay she did look familiar but I couldn't remember. I didn't realize he was the one that killed her. We definitely have to talk about that on the next episode.

There’s not much more work that needs to be done on the double that Bunk is working, he knows Omar was involved which means his crew hitting a stash house. And both of the bodies dropped came at the hands of Omar’s crew including friendly fire. Looking at it from the other side with the Dozerman gun situation, even if it’s looking for a needle in a haystack, if a crime is committed with that gun and the ballistics come back showing it was an officers service weapon used, that’s another big black eye that the department doesn’t need going against them.

Jeremy Hicks

Another potential rift we're starting to see is between Herc and Carver. Compare how each of them are reacting to Colvin's ideas, as well as how they each handled the Marlo situation.

I mean sure, there is definitely some potential embarrassment for the department if the gun is used in a crime, but it just seems like an awful big investment of resources for a symbolic gesture.

related to cutty's unsupervised drug test: at my first annual drug test (joy!) three years ago, i had a little performance anxiety and couldn't pee on demand. the lab tech gave me a new cup in a ziploc bag and said i could take it with me to fill at home and drop back at the lab later. i wondered in my head didn't that kind of defeat the point, but i didn't say anything. (i ended up coming back to the lab to do the test a couple hours later, after drinking some water and taking a walk, because i didn't really want to carry piss around in my bag.) later, when listing all the stupid and annoying things about this testing requirement (like that i had to PAY for it), i left out the take-home cup because i didn't want to take the opportunity away from anyone who might prefer it.

Youtalkingtome

That's insane. I wonder if every place even tests it (yours did, because you had to pay for it). But some companies might just go through the motions, and assume they automatically weed out some people who won't take the test because they know they won't pass. Regardless, some of these testers really don't take the process seriously at all.

So did Marlo refuse to go to Hamsterdam simply because "Fuk Da 5-Oh", or because Marlo immediately recognized it might be suicide (either the cops are walking him into a trap, or mixing the crews would inevitably lead to violence)?

Rozenn Keribin

Oh shit I'd never realized that Omar's BF shot Tosha, but you're right when you look at the scene again it's obvious. That sucks so badly for all of them.

I can now take the rot13 pin out of this comment by Joe in episode 1, during the first floor meeting of Stringer's we see: "Did someone keep a record of that?" Joe are you suggesting they TAKE NOTES on a CRIMINAL FUCKING CONSPIRACY???
