Such a great campaign episode! I love Lou and the actor who plays her so much. She's such a great addition and much needed 'cause Josh cannot do this alone. "Deck the halls with guns and ammo." Now why didn't they use that tagline in Die Hard, lol.

It’s funny - it has never once occurred to me to think that Jimmy Smits resembles Alan Alda, but in that one moment when he was talking about what he would have done about the leak he totally did. They like melded. I don’t know what it is about the angle or the lighting or what but now I can’t unsee it.

I was waiting for you guys to get to this episode cause it's my favorite of season 7! It basically starting off with a Steve Miller song gives it a lot of momentum to start off with and it takes that through the whole episode! I'm also so Happy you knew the band! 😎 Also: Santos had his name and nickname of his plane! How cool is that?!? 😄

Santos's full deadpan with the affair gag really got me the first time I watched it too. It's still crazy to me that a journalist can go to jail for not revealing a source. I understand why we need to have protections around classified information, and why someone *in government* needs to face consequences for leaking it, but the journalists never signed any legal agreement or oath to protect that information.

I didn’t remember her name and had to look it up, but this episode would have aired right after Judith Miller was locked up for not revealing her sources on the Valerie Plame leak story.

LOVE this episode too - the IMDB ratings are going to surprise a lot of people! Originally airing on October 2, 2005, 'The Mommy Problem' is Episode 2 of Season 7 of The West Wing. It is the 135th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 7.8, placing it as the #19 ranked episode of this season and #100 out of all the episodes shown so far.

No one caught the fact that when Joey Lucas heckles Josh for not hiring some "heavyweight" to help him run the campaign, she proposes Bruno Gianelli and Josh responds that it would put half their budget on "Italian loafers and mini-bar tabs..." The joke isn't what's important here... The Vinnick campaign did NOT reveal publicly that Bruno is working for THEM! That's quite the ace up the sleeve.

Ahhhh Lou!!!! What a great entrance for a new character... She's EXACTLY pinpointing why Democrats are incapable of doing a competent rebuttal to Republicans tactics (and STILL are IRL) Calling her the "New Toby" ain't that far in the sense of a proper counter-part to Josh.

Yannick, from Montréal

As much as Vinnick is great in a press gaggle (perhaps not his best when answering to the prayer issue about his VP candidate, but that looked like a one-off), Santos can do pretty much as well himself. His impromptu gaggle in the plane shows he's right up there too! Managed to use the response structure that Vinnick used ("If that was my White House..."), but demonstrated that Bartlett was doing the sensible thing, not the Ragh-ragh-ragh chest-thumping better than thou thing. His choices are top level decisions... "During the Bartlett campaign... Jed Bartlett was in charge" WOW!

I understand why people don't like The Ticket cold-open, I don't know exactly what they were trying to do. But personally, I was really happy to see it because I wanted CJ and Danny to end up together, so I got very excited seeing them togetherXD Also I wanted to know how they got here

Yeah I've been through the show many times, and I enjoy the open. Honestly, once the episode starts and as the season goes on, I completely forget about it...

Danielle

Good episode! I love the introduction of Lou; she's a great counterpart to Josh on the campaign and Janeane Garofalo is always fun. While Joey can stand up to Josh, there definitely needed to be, as she said, more heavyweights in the room helping out. Slightly unrelated, but after The West Wing, will you replace it with The Newsroom?
