After all the bullshit we've seen cops and politicians do on this show, why would you not believe they can have campaign signs pulled up? 😂

The Wire has plenty of villains but salute to Sandi McCree's performance because Namond's mom might be my most hated character on this show. Also Rawls Jr. is named Marimow after an editor that David Simon hated at the Baltimore Sun.

The show does a really good job of illustrating what Bunny called "fecal gravity" in Season 3. Royce beats on Burrell and by extension Rawls, and Rawls has to take steps to deal with the problem. Of course Rawls is a complete piece of shit regardless, but his behaviour is exactly what the institution incentivises. Even if you somehow get a more principled person in his spot, that person is either going to be pressured into conforming or pushed out.

Everything in this episode was so realistic from the Royce petty stunts to everything with the schools. I was talking to some city teachers about this season and they were saying that what’s depicted is almost a best case scenario. More often than not at least one student doesn’t survive the first week of school and prez’s class is tiny compared to the norm. You were assuming what was going to happen to the girl that slashed the other girl. In 2025 what is most likely to happen is the police take the child home to the parents and the school prays the kid doesn’t try to come back because at that age with current policies there are no consequences that child can face. The school can try to expel her but if the parents try to fight it it’s just the principal and Prez that would end up in trouble. Just like the cops, the school prays the media doesn’t find out because it’s just going to roll back on them. I’ve worked in education for over 30 years and it keeps getting more challenging, and where I work is much better conditions than the school depicted here.

My mom taught in a school in Atlanta that also had much better conditions than the one here but so much of this still rings true to her experience. Same for my close friend's mom who taught in a rough school in Hartford.
