Rory is definitely delusional if she thinks she and Dean can maintain an LDR while she's a freshman at an ivy league school and he's starting junior college. Not only would lack of time communicating and distance take its toll, but their lives are going in two different directions. But she's still a teen in her first relationship so the wisdom will hopefully come. I think this was the first role that made we aware of Adam Brody. Before I would eventually become obsessed with The OC.

Btw, my mom was at The Beatles show at Shea Stadium in 1965. There were no video screens, just girls screaming so loudly that you couldn’t hear the band.

We have another GG WW actor in this episode. Granville Van Dusen aka Darren Springsteen. He played a State Dept official who met with Will Bailey when he was writing Bartlet’s second inaugural.

This made me kind of sad for kids who’ll never have that experience of getting the application packet in the mail, reading the application on the fancy school paper and looking at the big glossy catalogs . . . it was so much more fun than doing everything online. (PS Sylvia Plath went to my college so that might have actually worked on us . . .)

Can't wait for you to watch episode 7 of this season. :)

Quick comment on the phone scene where Rory "tries" to join Darren Springsteen by phone and she freaks out and ask her mother to do it instead: THIS. Is a thing to me and apparently to my generation (millennials) and Gen-Z. Talking on the phone, have a call with someone: I HATE IT. And it's a thing. A lot of people don't like to talk by phone or they need a script before calling someone they don't know. I have it, at least. I need a script a lot of times. With practice, I'm getting better. But I totally related to that moment. :D Here : one of the many articles about that subject. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crgklk3p70yo

Also : Yay, Dave! I love this character! I also loooove Lane's geekiness with rock music, I admire all this knowledge and passion.

Lorelai when looking at the application forms: "Mother: Breathtaking." That always makes me laugh.
