Please tell me you got some food after this, Joe. As a huge Taylor swift fan I'll forgive Richie but it's not a problem I've ever had, lol. I love seeing him with his daughter.

Agreed, this was such a fun episode! A lot of the shots of food and the way it’s edited together remind me of Chef’s Table on Netflix... please tell me you guys have seen that, it’s *fantastic*. Also - Breakfast food is indeed the best. There’s a restaurant near me where that’s all they do, and there’s almost constantly a line out the door.

As someone who has no involvement in the food industry except as a patron, I really appreciate this episode's depiction of how chefs find inspiration. And once again I love how the editing here let's us get inside Sydney's head. Most of the restaurants in this episode are real with the exception of Verdana French Bistro, where Sydney talked with the female chef. The restaurant where Syd had breakfast is Kasama. She met the butcher, Rob Levitt, at Publican Quality Meats. Rob is the real life head butcher & chef de cuisine there. The story of his restaurant, Mado, closing due to a bad partner was true & unscripted. The white haired bespectacled man Syd talks to is Donnie Madia & I believe they're at Avec West Loop. (There is also an Avec River North & a Bar Avec.) Donnie once worked at Mr. Beef & borrowed money from Joseph Zucchero, the original owner of Mr. Beef, to start his first restaurant, Blackbird. Donnie is co-founder of One Off Hospitality which owns several Chicago restaurants. Syd got pizza at Pizza Lobo, dumplings at Lao Peng You, & a sundae from Margie's Candies.

Oh that is so cool! The editing was amazing and I'm loving how we get to see her and Carmy's process. It's great

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found it so embarrassing that Claire calls Carmy back, when he gave her a fake number like girl have some self respect

It was definitely a bold move. If a girl had given me a fake number, I would never have spoken to her again out of sheer embarrassment.

That song, Twenty Five Miles by Edwin Starr, always makes me think of Adventures in Babysitting (1987) which is a Chicago-centric film. (FYI: Never watch it on Disney+ because they have the censored-for-tv version for some stupid reason.)
