Also, love that my girl Ainsley got a mention! She will always be my fave minor character (Night Five is such a fun episode of hers) along with Arnold Vinick and Oliver Babbish. My fave cameos of the show have to be Nick Offerman as Jerry (one of CJ’s wolf highway guys in the big block of cheese day) and John Larroquette as Lionel Tribbey.

The Long Goodbye is one I didn't appreciate in the original run amd really appreciate now. Such great performances by all.

Okay, here's WAY more than you could possibly want in terms of my fannish stuff on TWW. :D My rankings of every episode: https://westwingranked.tumblr.com/ (Keep in mind, I did this list over a decade ago and would probably move some around if I did it again, but the top 20 I stand by.) I made a trailer for every season, and they're *nearly* all here (season 4 got taken down a while back): https://vimeo.com/user5053724 (ignore the BNAT one -- or not, feel free :P) AAAAAND on a Tumblr prompt, I renamed all the episodes in the style of "Friends" episodes ("The One with the..."): S1 - http://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/112536931712/an-idea-from-basicallylizziebennet-west-wing-au S2 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/112653740307/the-friends-wing-season-2-idea-from S3 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/112804535242/the-friends-wing-season-3-credit-to S4 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/112973861887/the-friends-wing-season-4-credit-to S5 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/113086047727/the-friends-wing-season-5-credit-to S6 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/113271220522/the-friends-wing-season-6-credit-to S7 - https://elphabacee.tumblr.com/post/113376186907/the-friends-wing-season-7-thanks-once-more-to

Aaron Sorkin admitted later that losing Ainsley was a big mistake.

The one where CJ goes home is a bit weird for me. I really like it at the same time I don't want to rewatch it. It is a bit painful to watch the father and CJ go through that.

I liked the start of the Zoe kidnapping arc. I didn't like how it got resolved though, it wasn't very satisfying. I just thought it was weird how they barely explained how they got her back. It was like a voice in the background of the scene or something with a couple of lines. I dunno, just seemed off.

Thank you both for your thoughtful, compassionate, and often very funny insights throughout this show. I’ve seen The West Wing right through several times, but never with the fresh perspective I had from watching it along with you. Thank you also for giving my mum and I a completely wonderful weekly tradition to look forward to together! It’s been a bright spot in a very challenging year. We’re both looking forward to continuing that tradition with The Newsroom, and hopefully with other shows in the future. Our appreciation to you both.

Might have ended up better for the actress's career as she had a pretty long run on CSI. Honestly I don't know where you can take the character that already wasn't explored which was Sorkin's initial apprehension in making her a regular. Though if he regretted it I'm sure he could have thought of something interesting. Another factor would have been if John Wells could have properly used her in the transition to Sorkin leaving in Season 5+. Even characters like Tobey and Will were kind of abandoned in the later seasons.

100% agree. I didn't hate the episodes, and they were very tense and enjoyable at the time of watching them. They just felt like a different kind of show during that stretch, which makes them feel just a bit off.

I’ve really enjoyed watching TWW with you guys and your online community! My top 5: (5) The Supremes (Glenn Close and her shoes!) (4) The Dogs of War (3) Posse Comitatus (really the last 3 episodes of Season 3 as a unit) (2) Two Cathedrals (1) Noel So many honorable mentions: In Excelsis Deo; And it’s Surely to Their Credit (for Sam and Ainsley); In The Shadow of Two Gunmen.

Kristi Govertsen

Geez. To narrow it down to five feels like an impossible task, but the episodes that immediately stand out when I reminisce about The West Wing: 5. The Supremes 4. 17 People 3. In the Shadow of Two Gunmen (two-parter) 2. In Excelsis Deo 1. Two Cathedrals Honorable mention: Somebody’s Going to Emergency, Somebody’s Going to Jail (aka Big Block of Cheese Day) RE our current times: I found myself saying (far too) often these days: “The First Amendment—use it or lose it.”
