It is interesting how this season and the last one were set-up the same way. Episode 1 was about Buffy dealing with the trauma from the previous finale. Episode 2 was a monster-of-the-week episode where someone came back from the dead (Frankenstein in season 2 and Zombies in season 3). Episode 3 introduces new characters and plotlines with Spike and Drusilla in season 2 and now Faith in this episode. I'll be curious to see if season 4 follows the same pattern.

I saw the play that goes wrong in nyc a few years ago, it was so much fun! Glad you enjoyed it. Gotta say it's pretty weird seeing you recognize Eliza Dushku in this, to me she will forever and always be Faith Lehane, vampire slayer and anything else is secondary. This was definitely the first time I became aware of her. Buffy has actually been compared to Spiderman a lot, she's been called a girl power Peter Parker more than a few times. The two have a ton in common!

I always laugh at Faith’s clubbing outfit in this. Such a 90’s outfit with the detached sleeves. I had a few tops with sleeves like that that I wore to go clubbing. We just went to regular clubs in high school since they weren’t strict about checking IDs. Naked Angel literally falling from the sky always makes me laugh. Angel falling from Hell not Heaven.

No disagreement about Xander, and I think the show struggles for longer than it should to make him more than a cracker of wise and (wow, do I hate this term) "typical teenage boy." I feel that more keenly every time I rewatch. But I always try to remember that even with his flaws he's still dear to Buffy and Willow. Which gives me some patience in between the good moments. :P Welcome to the show, Faith! I love how she's immediately set up as a kind of foil for Buffy. I think she's a more successful version of what they tried to do with Kendra, and she feels like a more developed character after just one episode. I forgot that it takes us this long to find out there's a whole organization of watchers. And it is WILD to me that Giles is left out of the retreat -- like he's the smelly kid that everyone avoids. He's the watcher of the active slayer! Surely he's kind of important?! Speaking of Giles, maybe my favorite part of the episode is Giles's ruse with the binding spell. Devious, maybe, but showing a huge amount of insight into what she's been through (sorely missing from ANY character in the previous episode). Dollhouse is my favorite Eliza TV show. So many fantastic actors in that series but it is rather anxiety inducing. I didn't realize she retired from acting and I really hope she's happier now.

Maybe a hot take but I think she was the least good actor in that show, and the show only got really good when the ridiculously amazing supporting cast started getting more to do. She’s perfectly up to the role as Faith on Buffy, but she was just not up to what her role on Dollhouse called for.

Last time my mom's best friend came with her to visit NYC (her kid also lives here) I really tried to convince them to see play that goes wrong, but the friend was dead set on seeing Rock of Ages for some reason. Oh well

Faith has entered the chat. Gotta love Eliza Dushku, she was the “it” tom girl of the 90s and early 00s and to this day Faith remains the first crush of many, both straight and gay. Hell i’m a gay man and I almost have a crush on her. Also love the terminator reference at the end.
