The actress who played Kleya - Elizabeth Dulau - just graduated from college. This was her *first paid acting job*, and her performance during Season 1 inspired Tony Gilroy to magnify her on-screen presence to match her skill. This episode is basically a showcase for her. There are tiny little bits sprinkled through this episode - when Luthen is getting ready to go meet Lonni, and Kleya was arguing with him, he said - gently - "Move", and she smiled a little. And now we know why he said that, and why she reacted that way. I've watched this episode probably a dozen times, and THIS time it struck me - as much as Luthen probably helped shape Kleya into a rebel...I think helping her sharpened his resolve to end the Empire. It was mutualist. Re: the after-episode conversation: if Disney ever gets off its ass and allows projects to move forward (the lackluster "Mandalorian and Grogu" numbers have kinda ended Star Wars production for a while, it looks like) - Daisy Ridley has been working on getting a Rey movie - reputedly about training force-sensitive children to be in control of their power, without requiring a Jedi/Sith/whatever "choice" or "indoctrination". It's been in development hell (kinda? Disney simply didn't talk about it for YEARS) and may be moving forward, but who really knows these days. I'd love to see stories told about force users simply using the force and living as people and creating a better "galactic culture" than an Evil Empire or a Useless Bureaucratic Republic.
