Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 Looking forward to the continuation of "Band of Brothers". Can't wait to watch these two episode reactions later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Got my next few hours planned now! Addie, not sure if you have watched any directed works by Tom Hanks (I think you’d like That Thing You Do! and Larry Crowne).

Episode 5 might be my favorite one. I love seeing Winters' transition and when he is leaving Easy Comany you really can feel how much they mean to him. The episode spans several months in case you didn't catch that. It starts in Early October when that first scene with the Easy company battle. After the battle, Winters got promoted to XO of 2nd battalion. So while he is no longer directly in charge of Easy, he is now directly above the C.O. for D, E & F companies so he still works with Easy company often. THis is also why Winters is suddenly typing up reports. He is now in more of a "behind the scenes" administrative and planning role rather than in the battle. A guy to remember is David Webster. He is the guy who got in injured in that battle, and was regretting his reaction of saying "they got me". He was a Harvard student and was upset that his response to being injured was so cliché. He comes back to the series later. When Winters was promoted a guy named Moose Heyliger was made the Easy company C.O. Several weeks later he is the one who was shot by his own man. Moose's replacement was Lt. Norman Dike, who everyone hated. He is a new character to the series and had not previously been with Easy Company. Guarnere had hurt himself joyriding in case you didn't catch that. This was NOT shown in the series, they only mentioned it when he returned from the hospital on December 10th. Also in that scene in case you didn't catch it, Nixon said they were supposed to train for 3 months then possibly jump into Berlin in March. At this point Easy Comany is supposed to be resting and recouping. However, the suprise German attack to start the Battle of the Bulge ended all of this. Normally an Airborne Division like the 101st would not have been used to go hold the line like this, but the Allies were so underprepared for this that they put the 101st airborne in out of desperation. That is why they had so little supplies or clothing, and they were still nowhere near 100% strenth, and why the head of the 101st (General Taylor) was not there. His replacement for this battle was General McAuliffe.

You should watch "A Bridge Too Far", an outstanding movie showing all of operation Market Garden, how the brits got into the position where they needed to be saved in this episode. It has an amazing cast, Sean Connery, Robert Redford, Ryan O'Neal, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, on and on...

This is a tip of the iceberg we see of the leadership from Winters. How does it get better? Stay tuned. It’s a blast when reactors see Jimmy Fallon. He was such a baby here.

Clay F

That is Jimmy Fallon.

IN this Episode, We see a Jimmy Fallon as the guy carrying ammo in the Jeep. This is him before his glory days of late night television xD

Really enjoying Band of Brothers so far. 👍 The only small thing I kind of wish they had done is have subtitles when the troops are using hand signals to communicate. You can usually get the gist of what they're trying to convey but it would have been nice to actually get the translation.
