Young Royals Forever brought me pure joy before gut-punching me in the feels one final time. It's that damn song, I swear! I have delayed watching this because it truly is the last of the Young Royals content, but I couldn't wait any longer. It turned out to be such a heartwarming (and funny!) final goodbye to this fantastic series.

Here is the unedited, full-length version of my reaction, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about it if you do! I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/8P_yUJk3l_A. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the episode to sync up.

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

Loved this so much! OK so first of all, there's more than an hour of behind the scenes, interviews with cast and crew, including our two Mothers: lead director Rojda and lead writer Lisa and also the intimacy co-ordinator Sara, for each season. So at least four hours for you two watch. They cast and crew hace been so forthright and generous with their respective crafts that the fandom have that has kept up has had a masterclass in film making and storytelling. Lisa Ambjörn creator and Head writer has been very eager for the fandom to create and be inspired by YR. It's why it's Young Royals Forever. Let me know if you want recommendations. Also, Edvin has been acting for 15 years in various roles so though he is the youngest of the cast (he was 17 in season 1) he is the most experienced. Omar, for example, is the oldest and the least experienced in acting of the cast. This was his first role.

I was the same way about just seeing the characters when I see the actors. So I usually try to watch other things they are in to break me of it. So I watched the 6 seasons of Gasmamman with Edvin(Wilhelm). It was easier to break the character association because he was little when it started. I liked it but it's a completely bonkers show.

Yay!! Been waiting for this! It’s been months and still so hard to let these characters go (which is why I’m watching reactions haha!) This was such a beautiful love letter to the show. They really are a family and loved this project so much. To answer your question, Lisa (head writer) said in an interview that she always saw YR as a story in 3 parts, so three seasons. She had to fight for every season, and they didn’t have much of a budget. In fact, she wanted more episodes and had to fight for the six we got! What she was able to do with just 18 episodes was truly remarkable. They really gave us their ALL! We are so lucky to get all three seasons, and I do get her vision. She wanted to tell the story of Wille finding his voice basically. With Boris and Simon’s help, he realized he had choices, figured out what he wanted, found his voice, and took autonomy over his own life instead of being a puppet of the royal family. The show ended with him SMILING, free and happy and in charge of his life for the first time ever. Sending those four off together at the end was so beautiful and satisfying! We still want to see them and be with them, but for the first time, they don’t NEED our support. Edvin said that final look to the camera was like Wille saying: “It’s okay. I’m going to be fine. You can go now.” 🥹 And these amazing characters will live on in our imaginations and hearts forever 💜 That’s why it’s Young Royals Forever! 💜 It’s been a pleasure going on this journey with other fans like yourself! I’m so glad you discovered this show and took us on the journey with you. Once more, with feeling… #JusticeForAnnette ✊

In an interview, Lisa said that she had to send the behind the scene crew away at times during the beach scene because Edvin and especially Omar were so emotional during the entire shoot and had to fight back tears. I still believe that the team intentionally shot this scene last in order to get the most emotions out of Edvin and Omar :D

Thank you so much, Dionne!!! This is great info. Yeah, I really do hope to see more things come from Lisa, her team, or other creatives associated with YR. I am also so grateful that Netflix has made international content a priority on its platform because some of the best shows (this, Dark) are shows I probably wouldn't have otherwise been able to access. I really like that last part you wrote about Edvin/Omar and their ages/experience, btw. Crazy!

Ohhh, Gasmamman.. gotcha. Yeah, honestly what made me realize that I could look at him differently was when I heard him briefly do his US Southern/Country accent lol. If he popped up on a US show doing THAT accent for a season, I'd definitely be able to break the YR spell. Also seeing Omar in his real-life clothes, jewelry, etc., for that awards show clip snapped me out of the "purple hoodie" Simon I'm used to ;)

Awwww hahahahaha :) Annette!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with me! Your comment was the perfect summation of the show and the behind the scenes, and I really appreciate you spelling it out this way. So great and so helpful to me! I definitely agree with you that what she did with the little she was given (Lisa) is remarkable. I love that she was able to tell her complete story, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't still want to see more ;)

I believe it!! I'm just some guy sitting in Houston watching this and feeling emotional. I can't imagine what it would have been like to have this be a part of your life and work for years, and then have to say goodbye knowing you may not see these people again. And even if you do, not in the same way. I'd be crying buckets!!
