DISCLAIMER: We did not watch the full arc lmao.

I respectfully said "enough", we watch a lore vid on the Zygerrians, and have a cool conversation (I think, at least). From now on, we are reaaally sticking to the best of the best in Clone Wars, aka no more Grevious pursuits or Yoda bein like "amiss, something is. Dark side, I sense. do something, I won't." And this doesn't apply to most of you, but if you even think about being passive aggressive or argumentative about this, I can't promise respect or dignity when I reply to you. It will be a full on takedown lmao. It's a full moon and I'm feelin feisty

This series is mostly GOLD, with a few nonsense episodes and arcs. We have so much other good SW stuff ahead, like Rebels, Ahsoka, Andor, etc., so this is for the best!! We'll still watch the weird stuff off camera :)

Love y'all!

The Zygerrian Slavers

Matthew Cronin

Oh man. This is a bummer. There was a lot of anakin and Ahsoka development in this arc.

eli lambert

Fair enough, the next arc is amazing anyway lol

Matthew Cronin

Yeah but so is this one so I guess who knows what they’ll think of it

Grakatas

Whelp based on the description of the vid and after watching your lore reaction. I respect your decision not to watch it. I don’t consider this arc to be the worst but the repetition criticism is valid and to be honest I feel like it didn’t commit to saying anything special. I’m sure people recommended this based on Anakins reaction but it does little more than present his already known anger. As for the Zygerrians unfortunately some Star Wars writers will basically take the first character of an alien species then say “UH ALL OF THEM AND THEIR CULTURE IS LIKE THAT”. It feels like a let down especially after the Umbara arc which was much better written and felt more nuanced, tragic, and interesting than this. Do I think it’s absolute garbage? No. But I completely understand and agree with your reasons for skipping it.

Brandon Dodge

Understandable. While this Arc does have some good moments, I do agree with alot of the criticism. Interestingly enough there were some Zygerrian Jedi in the High Republic Era, so maybe not all of them have the same mindset and chose to break tradition and be something else. I enjoyed the discussion at the end and look forward to the next Arc.

What's interesting about the Zygerrians is that it's said the original Zygerrian Empire was dismantled in the old Republic era, which is at least 1000 years prior and the new Zygerrian Empire wasn't established by this royal family until some time shortly before or during the Clone Wars. That leaves an at least millenium long gap of time where Zygerrians existed and weren't enslaving people on a species wide scale. Someone else also mentioned that we see a Zygerrian Jedi during the High Republic era, which is exactly in that millenium. This means during the High Republic era the Zygerrians were in good enough relations with the Republic that the Jedi Order could waltz in and ask a Zygerrian family for their child to be trained as a Jedi. There's some legitimate story potential there.

Howard Sanderson

Literally ever single other reaction channel watched this arc , but its not a big deal to miss it and it brings us closer to the really good arcs, Its not the best arc and it's for sure not the worst arc either.

Lily

Then go watch them. This is Meg’s decision. If you don’t like it, move on. Don’t be passive aggressive and childish.

ShadowStunts

Even if you skip posting some of the episodes I hope you check them out on your own time. There is a lot of repetitive episodes especially in the earlier seasons but even those do have some hidden gems in them. Some real iconic moments might be missed if you skip episodes all together.

LankyRambo

"It will be a full on takedown lmao. " Got me singing KPop Demon Hunters in my head. My kids (and a lot of the time me without my kids) listen to the soundtrack non-stop, lol.

Mathies

I totally respect and understand why you would skip this arc, and you brought up some really great points i never considered. it does come off as Trauma porn a bit. I do wanna note though that one thing you miss by skipping the arc is an interesting conversation about the role of the jedi in the republic. the queen alledges that Anakin never stopped being a slave because the jedi have practically devolved in to doing the republics bidding. obviously it's not at all comparable to the horrible conditions of the togruta in this arc for example, in that regard the jedi have absolutely nothing to complain about but it does push along Anakins disillusionment with the jedi order further.

NCR Ranger

good thing anakin slaughters many slavers in that arc and the queen gets zapped by count dookie

Mage Reacts

I DON'T THINK YOU'RE READY FOR THE TAKEDOWN

Mage Reacts

Did you read or listen to anything I said lmfao. I explained myself 5 billion times. I'm not a fulltime reaction channel and you know that. My main gig is the gaming channel, and I make that clear everywhere. This kind of bs alienates casual Star Wars fans and is just plain rude. Ggs

Mage Reacts

Not you with your BS again. Thx for disrespecting the boundaries I clearly stated in the post.

Howard Sanderson

I actually did not mean it as a problem, I was not upset about it , I just glossed over the real reason you did not watch it, I just did not think of the other reaction channels as being full-time reactors, I was actually saying it was fine that you skipped it, I'm not good with words cause of my slight autism, I just meant to say skipping it gets us closer to the really good arcs, which is good. That's all I meant, I was not meaning to say anything bad, I just did not like being called passive agressive and childish by the comment that paper made, when I was not trying to be passive aggressive, sorry that he though I was being that.

Grakatas

I can see a story where a Zygerrian faction tries to restore the old ways and the Zygerrian Jedi try to put a stop to it. That would be so cool and provide a nuanced look into their culture and history.

Matthew Cronin

BS? I’m just bummed out that you skipped it cuz I was looking forward to your reaction for a while and it turned out to be really negative. Sorry.

Jdixie

I absolutely agree with you! I feel like their surface level portrayal of these different types of species is really unfortunate and takes a lot of wonder out of the story! With the Trandosians a few arcs ago, they could have pointed out their really intense history with their goddess and the fact that they need to keep points to get into a certain part of their afterlife. But they didn’t. It’s very unfortunate. I’m looking forward to seeing you react to more and hearing your opinions! You guys are always extremely insightful!

Grakatas

Listen man. The arc has moments of entertainment and character development but it doesn’t really matter in the long run. They have problems with how surface level the portrayal of slavery is here and the fact that Zygerrians are comically evil here. Again the design makes them look like demons xD. They wanted something deep and interesting and to be honest, it’s not deep lol. You can’t force them to watch so just let it go or shut the hell up.

So there's a behind the scenes video on the making of this arc with the writers and animators. The first season show runner Henry Gilroy(no relation to Tony Gilroy of ANDOR) had the idea for the story but it was too complicated for the show to do at the time so he wrote it as a 6 issue comic which was then adapted in animation four years later. In the comics the Zygerrians were more human looking. They just all had red hair and pointy ears but Dave Filoni felt they had too many humanoid aliens so he changed them to be more coyote like. Also the slaver who fights and captures Obi-Wan was originally a Besalisk but since they had just done an evil Besalisk with Jedi Master Pong Krell in the Umbara arc they made him a Zygerrian.

Matthew Periolat

At a certain point in a series that goes seven seasons, it is understandable that there is a limit. When there is stuff you know is coming and you want that, when you have a story arc that advances the story and grows the characters like Umbarra, only to backslide the following week, it can cause a redline. So finally having enough is entirely justified. When a show is homework instead of being fun, yeah, time to skip a bit to get to what you want to see.
