Oh my God my eyes are in my stomach how far they just rolled back 😫 🙄 come on Meg you can't even say that! Haven't even seen the reaction yet and already got me fumbling. You're killing me smalls! 😅 Odin 👏 ain't 👏 that 👏 bad👏 there's a time for compassion and there's a time for accountability and punishment (something Loki sorely needs)

Mage Reacts

His types of "punishment" are inexcusable. Banishment and imprisonment? But agree to disagree, that's all I'll say on the matter bc my opinions are rooted in my own childhood upbringing, and I don't have the heart to debate whether or not someone's son should be imprisoned by their dad

So excited to watch this movie again with you guys! If there’s one thing I know about your reactions is that you guys never disappoint to be so gosh darn adorable during them ☺️

Mage Reacts

You are the freakin best Heroes, thank you!!!!

FearTheTREMOR

That's completely fair. The reason that is iffy is because Odin is simply the ruler of Asgard. If it were anyone else, I think it wouldn't hit as hard. But as for Loki himself, imprisonment is definitely the appropriate route. Odin didn't do this out of malice or intent on his suffering, I'm sure of that. Thors banishment I'd say was well deserved. The equivalent to kicking your child out. He was being very violent, arrogant and would've made a very bad ruler. It didn't bring him any joy either, but he made a decision that helped Thor to see his faults. Odin took Loki from a place where he was unsafe. You dont do that unless you have some sort of empathy or care for others. I've talked with my grandma about her kicking out my dad and when she did, she said even though she was fed up with her son, it killed her to say to him to leave. I guess I am just more sympathetic, knowing that deep down, he loves his sons, Loki included, even though he has caused the suffering of many. I think Odin is just more focused on turning him away from a dark path, instead of the loving compassionate route. I didn't mean to come off as stand off-ish or anything. I know everyone has their own childhood upbringing and struggles. Totally respect it and I understand and support you ❤️

YESSS, let's hate him together!

J

Also, please tell Caleb that yellow is HIS colour 💛

Mage Reacts

I shall wear only yellow from now on 🥹 thank you 🙏🏻 Full disclosure, Meg is my stylist Caleb

J

Makes sense! You both look ✨fabulous✨

J

You are my PEOPLE. This movie gets so much hate, I'm so glad SOMEBODY gave it the credit it deserves. I also just love how much you hate Odin/love Loki.

HeroesKey

Aww thanks Meg! You and Caleb are truly the best though! Your MCU reactions always bring me so much joy by you guys being your incredible selves so honestly thank you guys so much for just being you. Also I know you mentioned in the beginning of the reaction but yeah I hope you can get Caleb to react with you on some of the Batman animated series episodes or some of the other DC animated stuff

I know Meg has her own reasons but I just am trying to understand them. Loki is such a good character but when parents do things to their kids that seem harsh, (not abusive shit of course, that's not excusable or forgivable) like imprisonment or banishment, I just don't see it as this evil thing. Especially as Loki needs to answer for his crimes. Sometimes you make decisions that are heavy, but neccesary. Not saying Odin is father of the year or anything but theres far worse fathers both in fiction and in the real world. Admittedly, a healthy world is one where Odin and Loki talk things out and Loki knows that he is loved, and Odin knows not to keep a secret like him being adopted for millennia 😅

i can understand the hate for odin because he is not a hero or "good" guy. even in mythology hes a dick. i probably dont dislike him as much as yall but keep in mind 2 wrongs dont make a right. loki has been a pretty bad person and ended a decent amount of lives. still though you aint wrong about the family structure in this case, odin's parenting kind of set loki up for some bad behavior. anyways its always nice to hear other perspectives and you guys are great so thank you for the video :)

FearTheTREMOR

I just finished the reaction and she's conflating her experiences with Lokis. Loki never went through a "toxic" childhood. He was lied to by his father that he was adopted yes. But that doesnt make the whole relationship some irreparable toxic upbringing. It was an unwise decision by Odin that tainted their relationship. But Odin is by no means some piece of shit. Thats not rooted in reality. What we learn of him here is that in grief, he becomes closed off and stubborn. As nearly every person is. Thats not some Nancy Drew gotcha moment. Loki was born in a place not safe. Odin took him home and was loved by all those around him. Thor, Frigga, and even Odin. But Loki felt overshadowed by Thor. That's not toxic because it's not being done intentionally. It's just a byproduct of Thor and his young arrogance and him wanting to be king. But it excuses nothing that Loki does. Her reactions and defenses are borderline apologetic. And those people (apologists) are toxic. Loki put himself here. No one else. When you make a choice to act with violence, how you got there becomes irrelevant. Sympathy is fine. I feel sympathy for him. But I also recognize he's completely in the wrong with his choices and actions. Yes a lot of it could have been avoided had Odin told him the truth sooner, but thats just not the world we live in. Odin is not blameless, but Loki solely by himself takes responsibility for what he tried to do in Thor 1 and in the Avengers. I don't mean to judge Meg in any way I'm just very intrigued by this is all.

fuck odin all my homies hate odin. glad to hear others who actually like this movie lol

Tyranniac

A little bummed you're not doing Agents of SHIELD, but it's a big time committment so I get it! Another enjoyable reaction! A lot of people don't like this movie but I think it's solid! Regarding the Odin thing, Odin is definitely an awful dad. I think it's important not to forget the awful things Loki has done though! Imprisonment seems like a pretty reasonable punishment for a mass murderer, which is what Loki is,

Mage Reacts

Agreed. Would prefer a rebellion that doesn’t involve attempted alien takeovers of Earth and murder 🥴😅 - Caleb
