Justice League: The New Frontier

The Amazing Webhead

Congrats Meg! You got to see the Justice League in action. Also you officially most of the core members of the League such as Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Green Arrow (even though you saw a old man Arrow in Dark Knight Returns), Plastic Man, & Shazam or Captain Marvel as he was called before Marvel Comics took that name for Carol Danvers. They’re all great characters and interested for you see them in other interpretations such as Martian Manhunter who is one of my favorite DC characters. Always a kind guy with a tragic backstory of being the last of his kind but found a new home at Earth and even in some cases view the League as like his new family. He & Clark have a bit in common when you think about it which is why they have a fun dynamic in the comics.

The Amazing Webhead

Note that this movie is based on a comic and is a version of events of how the League forms as all adaptations have different scenarios on how they formed and the team roster as well. Just letting you know. :)

I absolutely ADORE the Golden Age style that this movie used for all the costumes and designs, and to see so many characters that I love come together is truly special. The Martian Manhunter is one of my favorites.

Naw

Awwww; *really* did not want Meg to be introduced to *a lot* of these characters this way, but I guess it's okay🤷‍♂️ Glad you enjoyed though, Meg💚

And with this movie you've officially met all founding members of the Justice League. As well as some other core members that cameod in the movie. Though as Webhead mentioned, this is just another version of the League and the characters meeting, forming the League, and the lineup of the team is different in all other adaptations. But the lineup of the members in this movie is the original lineup from the comics, that being Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter. But this makes me even more excited for you to react to the Justice League shows as well as the other Justice League animated movies eventually, which also have their own different lineup of the Justice League. However with the animated movies, the League have been around for a while in those movies so there is no origin like there was in this movie. So you kind of have to watch them having an already established knowledge of the League. But it shouldn't be hard to understand the context of the stories being told in those movies. As for the shows, I have a feeling you're going to love every minute of each episode. But let us finish BTAS and STAS first so that it'll give you context and a better understanding of the stories told in Batman Beyond, Static Shock and especially in JL and JLU

If you love Martian Manhunter now just wait till you get to the Justice league show

Brandon Gibbs

This is an excellent JL movie you chose Meg! Only thing is you've been wondering about a lot of things, jumping to conclusions too much and talking about things that were not really important. First of all YES that martian was Martian Manhunter! Second that cold villain Flash was facing was Captain Cold not Mr. Freeze. Third that woman Hal Jordan was in love with was Carol Ferris and NO she was not a martian and what's been going on with her eyes wasn't important. Also you've been laughing so much missing important details they were talking about. Anyway this was one of those movies that showed why Superman was the one true leader of the Justice League.

So the graphic novel was written AND drawn by Darwyn Cooke, it's a love letter to the Golden and Silver Age of DC. I forgot how much this movie cut from the graphic novel lol, but it's still pretty good, gives you the gist of the story. When you get round to reading it, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it. I know you've got it because I'm the one who sent it to you😀😉There's many references you won't get, some I didn't either. Luckily there's a few pages at the end of the book which explains every single one. There's been a few Green Lanterns from earth and Hal wasn't even the 1st: Alan Scott (His weakness is wood😂), John Stewart who you'll be meeting later on, Guy Gardner, and Kyle Rayner. Apart from Alan (Justice Society) they were all members of the JL. You've finally met Barry! He's one of the main players in Crisis on Infinite Earths which I also sent along. I'm pretty sure it was Wally West, his sidekick that you met in that Supes episode, which makes sense as he's The Flash in the show. Iris West was his aunt, and Barry is "Uncle Barry". There's also Jay Garrick the original Flash, who you'll meet in Crisis. Finally there's Bart Allen, who is the grandson of Barry, who starts off as Impulse, later becomes the 2nd Kid Flash to Wally and then the 4th Flash. This 101 is over. Happy reading!❤️

Yeah there's been a few ice dudes and dudettes in the DCU, Mr Freeze and Captain Cold are probably the most iconic. You reminded me of this Robot Chicken sketch where they all end up robbing the same place😄https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAXQ2809MPY

One of my fav Justice League movies your gonna love the show even more seeing em all together. Love how this was set during the Korean war and seing everyones perspective I loved Flash's pov alot seeing him trying to be a hero and the stigma everyone had against him. Him & Martian Manhunter & Hal were very central focused kinda and I loved it.

Also some other things to point out from this movie. Batman's first suit that you see him in is inspired by the debut suit that co-creator Bill Finger designed when Batman first appeared in the comics in 1939. The suit that you see him in the Batcave when he's talking to Superman is based on the suit he wore during the Silver Age of comics in the the 1950s and 1960s. Superman's suit is inspired by the suit from the Max Fleischer Superman cartoon from the 1940s. The invisible thing that Wonder Woman was flying on when she came to warn Superman and the others of the Centre was her Invisible Jet. Early on in the comics, Wonder Woman didn't have the power to fly so to get around she would fly in an invisible plane. So that was a reference to when she used to fly it as she says in the movie that she hadn't flown it in a while. There's other movies and shows that reference her invisible jet as well. In fact, I believe the Lego movie you watched not too long ago made a reference to it since Wonder Woman was in the movie and she mentions it and then it gets blown up. The guy with the cold gun that the Flash went up against is Captain Cold, one of Flash's known villains. Speaking of the Flash, the ring you saw he has is where he keeps his costume. He shoots it out and as it's coming out he puts it on really fast. Not sure how the mechanism works or how he puts it back in the ring (if he does at all) but it's still pretty cool nonetheless. Also The Flash in this movie is Barry Allen, who is the second person to take on the mantle of The Flash. The one you met in STAS and the one that's in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited is Wally West, the third person to be The Flash and Barry's nephew. It's a little confusing since both of them wear similar suits and have somewhat similar personalities. But I will say one way to tell the difference between the two, at least outside of their suits is that Barry is usually blonde and Wally is a redhead. In fact, you see Wally at the end of this movie with the other younger heroes (Teen Titans as they're known) as he is wearing his yellow Kid Flash suit

Unstablebeast

so in this the flash is Barry, in the superman episodes you watched, as well as in the justice league cartoon, its Walley west, who is iris's nephew. Barry was the flash in the 60s and 70s, then in the 80s he died, and Walley who was kid flash, took over as the flash and stayed it until around 2010

Unstablebeast

1:05:26 wonder woman has at times been bi correct, especially since the early 2000s i want to say, might have been the 90s, tho her preference is more leaning towards men usually, but not always

Unstablebeast

can i just say i love how meg just keeps finding more dc heroes to be obsessed with, batman, then superman, then flash, then hal, now martian manhunter

Frankie H

This was really fun, and I forgot how good this film was. The Center was voiced by Keith David who voiced Captain Anderson from Mass Effect, and Arby from Halo. The late Miguel Ferrer also voiced the villain Weather Wizard who you saw in that one episode of Superman: The Animated Series, he also voices another big character in that series later on. By all accounts he was a really nice guy and loved comic books. Also he was first cousins with George Clooney. The Robinhood guy was Green Arrow, like batman he's a billionaire hero, he usually targets the rich and is a strong believer in helping the poor. So yes he is essentially Robinhood.

Bruce Wayne

An old man got mad at you for that? lmao Nah I think its perfectly normal to laugh. How we outwardly express ourselves doesn't always represent our true feelings. Plus if a scene is ridiculously shot or etc then its natural to laugh?? lol idk I just know that i love your genuine reactions, idc what anyone else says.

Bruce Wayne

don't apologize for the eye stuff, that was funny as fuck lmao

Casey

Yeah, Martian Manhunter is the best! Also, I think you’ll really like Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and its sequel Superman/Batman: Apokolips, based on some of the things you said in this reaction 😊

Mage Reacts

WAIT I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS CONFIRMED! I thought I was making it up!!

Unstablebeast

In a few comics she has dated women, and at times she has shown a sexual interest, but most of the time her romantic partners are men, usually one of 2 or 3 characters

Brodie Vickers

Just happened to be flipping through the New Frontier book yet again, love it so much. Noticed there wasn't a reference to this so here it is: I know that your familiar with the Suicide Squad, well Rick Flagg (Hal's military boss who sacrifices himself) was the leader of the original group, the members weren't forced into it but joined up because they had witnessed comrades of theirs die heroically and they were the lone survivors. This is all explored a lot more in the book. When the new version of the team came along, his son Rick Flagg Jr would be the leader. Don't think you met him in Assualt on Arkham, though he does appear in the movies. He makes a small cameo here in the JFK epilogue scene, as the kid giving a class presentation about his Dad. All the easter eggs this story has is probably one of my favourite things about it. Some more lore for you😉

Jonty Q Wright

If you love Martian Manhunter I can't wait for you to watch the Justice League show.

James Wayne

the scene where you see the joker its rooster of a bunch villains. The background is justice green it has nothing to do with green lantern

The sick stupid irony of you screamog "free palestine" when you see the victims of sexual slavery take their revenge.....Since that is what hamas is literally doing to the israli people they attacked and kidnapped back in 2022.. mass gang rapes, and kidnapping of the most attraive israeli to be taken back to gaza and raped again and again while the forward thinking femnists of the west cheer on the hamas scum. #believeallwomen unless their liberated israeli hostages, eh? Hamas use rape as a weapon and are open about this, either A) you knew this already and didn't give a crap. or you just don't know it, but you voice support for them anyway, which makes you what leni would call a "useful idiot" your ignorance on a important subject coupled with the willingness to randonsly sream the hashtags on a justice league reaction video makes me vomit. at least the highlights your eagerness to speak before learning or thinking. did you even ever hear about gaza before two years ago? could you find it on a map? could you name the leaders of israel, gaza, or the west bank? did you know ANYTHING about this issue before it became so woke-trendy????

jimmy2k4o .

and btw superhero shouting "fuck white supremacy" like a edgy obnoxious 13 year old does absolutley nothing to combat it. So stop patting yourself on the back for being a brave and moral hero!

jimmy2k4o .

why does the only person to react to all animated dc moves needs to be so dan annoyng obnoxious and frankly childish good fucking god do i regret patronising you no wonder you dont notice whos voicing who because your dimwitted mind is too obsessed with carols eye colour. so superficially fixated you really are such a girly girl in all the most annoying and dumb ways
