Matthew Cronin

Oh my god I am here for these fast drops. Welcome to Captain Rex, the best boy.

Rex is here! 🔥the clones are the best

Matthew Cronin

Ventress is Dooku’s “Assassin” and not a true Sith like him or sidious

Brandon Corchado

Ventress is a Sith assassin. She is not a Sith Lord, she is merely Count Dooku's assassin.

The Clones are such a big part of the Clone Wars. It's one thing Episode 3 didn't include that makes Clone Wars so special. These guys are definitely different than each other. In the movies these Clones were just faceless soldiers, but here..... you'll see. Clones were bred for war, from childhood it's that they are raised in boot camps and whatnot. They also mentioned they're given growth hormones so they grow much faster than normal people. We don't know anything about chips, it's just that they don't know any other life than literally going through the training process from the start of their lives. Also I'm pretty sure Anakin and Chopper had very different desires lol. One thing that was important to remember that Palpatine said is that Anakin has always wanted a life greater than an ordinary Jedi. One of significance, of conscience. And that isn't a manipulation. Anakin wants more from his life in the sense of fulfillment. He wants to be a person of influence. Showing that he is powerful, strong, and someone important. He had his sights set high. With the Jedi in the war yeah, they're meant to be peacekeepers, but here they're simply generals of war. It shows that the Jedi have been losing their way, of course it's been perpetuated the whole time by Palpatine. But yeah, you're in for a very interesting time with what Clone Wars explores. So excited for the movie!

As much as I love the other characters and backstory, some of my favorite episodes and arcs are the Clone centered ones. You really get to know these guys as individuals and they're so tragic.

Couple of things, since you touched on a lot: That theme on the individuality of the clones? Their relationship with the Jedi? Their personhood? That’s a major topic for the whole series. So stay tuned. Christophsis was the planet they were trying to land on in Cat and Mouse and will remain a location through the movie. Ventress… you’ll see. She’s got a good story. Coincidentally I just finished Brotherhood this afternoon, which set up a lot of Clone Wars stuff, including Ventress. Be interested to see if that’s in the pending lit shipment. Very much enjoyed the extended talk and look forward to more. Now, on to the movie! Free Palestine.

I loved this episode in particular, partially because of the introduction of Rex and Cody and their relationship, and Ventress. I love how the Clone Troopers get more time to shine in this series. And I kinda understand why Slick felt the way he did.

The individuality of the Clones and their role in society outside of just being soldiers becomes a big part of the show. They were bred specifically to fight in war, but what happens when the fighting is over?

Commander Cody the clone with the brownish-orange paint on his armor and the antenna on his shoulder is in Revenge of the Sith, he's the clone that works with Kenobi and then turns on him when order 66 happens.

So you were asking if it was supposed to be funny or a joke, no the clone stuff is almost always supposed to be taken seriously, they can make jokes yeah, but they are your normal soldier in war, think of any war movie, saving private ryan, full metal jacket, apocolypse now etc, the clones help to tell stories like that. a jedi dying is a big deal, a clone dying is a part of war. and choppers necklace of droid fingers, is meant to be a reference to some vietnam soldiers making necklaces out of the fingers or ears of people they killed

Unstablebeast

Something meg is misremembering about episode 2, while no one on the council knew the clones were being made, and yes dooku made the order under the disguise of a different jedi named sifo, the order was placed for the clones to go to the jedi council

Angarl

That was a magnificent discussion, very much enjoyed hearing all your thoughts.

I for one enjoyed the talk afterwards. I found it enjoyable. This show is 7 seasons of layering in nuance to things run through quickly and not easily expressed in basically 5 hours (the last two prequels)
