Not only is manifesting a sign of action and defense for his friend, the alternative simply makes no sense to me. Not manifiesting concedes to her point. Not manifesting is sitting passively in your dead friend's body, who was just stabbed six times by an utter stranger with mommy issues. The entire last chapter was John stressing on how his love for Arthur saved him and turned him into something better. So to follow that up with *losing* you loved one and then just sitting there? I will not allow it.

Manifesting/raging due to the loss of a friend is the most human thing John could do in this moment and he honestly needs that. Voting manifest. I feel like both options will more or less result in a "See, you are a merciless god, oh how your actions prove my point" kind of situation. I also do think think that it is valid, from an existential POV for John to reconcile his godly nature with his aspirations of humanity in order to find out who he wants to be. The first part of this is embracing that not all of his abilities subtract from his humanity. This is kind of what the hag is getting at, but if she is the guide the process would be too rushed I think. For the sake of John figuring out who he is, he is better off unleashing his power on the hag and then slowly reflect on the implications this has for his identity, with guidance from someone he trusts (don't know how Arthur will come back, but like, yeah)

It feels predictable! Hags are very smart and sneaky. I feel like John manifesting makes him more vulnerable as well. I’ve chewed on the ‘Manifest’ option and it just doesn’t taste right for me.
