It will break. And then, a few more votes down the line, Booth John will be like "What a pity they no longer have a dagger to defend themselves with."

Jayden

If I have the choice between making Arthur relive a very traumatizing experience or not, you bet your ass I'm making him relive that experience!

Marknado

The dagger is from Kayne. How can a door made by some witch who shoots herself in the face be stronger than that

PinchOfpeppers

Personally, I'm voting for dagger. It's Kayne's dagger, which leads me to believe it's not so fragile. Maybe it is! But honestly, we're at the door right now, and so to turn around and grab a piece of the hag when we're already here makes it feel like we're already crossing out an option we haven't even tried. Plus, I just have a feeling that going to the hag's body is asking for something.

Nemo

Even if the dagger is from Kayne, there is nothing that guarantees it will not break. It could be a prank by him to give Arthur a shit dagger. Or (if we break it) he pops up and is confused why we risked the only solid weapon we had. (The gun will not last.)

Heather Bruce

I don't care about the dagger. Let's not go looking for Mother Darkness, who originally found the hag dead in the water!!!

Positive

They COULD yoink the hag's rapier while they're going back for a piece of her body.

Kara

I’m not sure John suffered enough to bring Arthur back to life, I was worried it was going to require greater sacrifice. Maybe going back and making John uncomfortable is safer than getting off easily

SoapCarver

I'm voting for Kayne's dagger because we've waited long enough to see what that baby's deal is. And I'll keep voting for the stabby option until something magical pops out of it, dangit! It's got to be some sort of mystical artifact, right? No, I'm not in denial.

Red

First rule of dungeon crawling: don't fuck with stagnant water. There is a very very high chance that there's something in it, something hungry. They've already potentially disturbed whatever's in it by throwing the witch's body in there. Also this brings to mind that underground river way way early on in the series, late S1/early S2. You know, the one that had little fuckers that bit the shit out of Arthur's hands when he stuck his hands in the water to paddle (without lighting the lantern) and summoned a giant frog monster that tried to kill him? Yeah, getting vibes of that all over this. Knife, final answer. (Also, as a lot of people already pointed out--going for the witch parts was deliberately pointed out as a "going back" option, which has NEVER been the way to go previously. Keep moving forward!)

Red

Also, to be meta a sec--this is a HORROR podcast. Of course there's going to be bad shit in the water, guys, come on 🤣

Brie

I don't usually play this card but I'm voting Witch purely for The Drama!

BeastlyDeath

Look while I get the idea of there may be something in the water, if we brake kaynes dagger then we've essentially thrown away a very powerful tool that we may need later on. We have no idea what's going to be in our way of the black stone, and I'd rather keep whatever tools we've gotten from a man that is strong enough to have killed every version of himself

Laura A Moore

If I was faced with a hidden door with a little latch, I would bust out a knife and trick the door open. If it required magic and finesse to open, why would the witch have hidden it?

sillygoosehonkhonk

I feel like a dagger from kayne wouldn't break that easy

Wondersmith

yeesh, I am VERY nervous about both of these options. I voted witch, but mostly because a dagger vote put things at an even 50/50 and I am NOT fucking around with a tie here

Amy

I’m voting Dagger because John is my favorite and I want him to be happy.

Nico.exe.crashed

That’s what I’m thinking 😅 plus there’s the talisman. There’s a reason the witch fought this hard for it so it prob can help in someway

Fisher

witch piece just sounds way more interesting

Lock

I. Might have just tied it, thus far. Not intentionally, I swear.

Megs

Personally I’m voting to go back for a piece for the same reason I voted to go back for the book in the car during the farm episode. I’d much rather have something and not need it than need it and not have it.

Raven Fritz

But the hag was saved in dark muddy water before. Who's to say this dark muddy water is different. I think it's good to have. But I'm sure Harlan is planning something uncouth

Megs

If that’s the case, then what would stop her from coming after the boys anyway? What’s to say she hasn’t already been resurrected and is just biding her time? That might be the reason they haven’t been able to leave the labyrinth yet. I can be persuaded to change my vote to avoid a tie, but for now I still think going back is the better option.

Rook

A corpse should be left well alone. That said, DO. NOT. TIE.

SavageIvyy

Like other people have said both options have their problems. Going to get a piece of the witch most definitely feels like the riskier option, theres no way nothing is going to happen backtracking. It practically screams trap. But I don't like the idea of breaking the dagger and needing it later. I'm still stuck on the idea of it being important for something, I'm just not sure a glorified door handle is it. As much as I want to see Kayne again, I don't think breaking his present is the way. And like Yorick said, what if there's more?

Queen

if we keep clinging to the dagger we'll never have a good time to use it, i think. feels like resource hoarding in a videogame hahaa

FolkUnicorn13

Anybody else hoping that we get to see Yorick moonlight as a fishing poll? That's my ridiculous reason for voting as such 😆

SavageIvyy

I mean it kinda is lol we've held onto several items for a while. And it'll have its use but risking breaking it doesn't seem worth it

Tony! Toni! Toné!

Fuuuuck.... I have no idea!!! It would be one thing if the witch wasn't in the water. I feel like retrieving her from the water sounds pretty sketch

SeerOfTime

I usually don't comment on polls, but I'm very firm in my choice this week, so here we go. (I'll likely repeat what other people already know, so I apologize in advance!) Personally, I have a really bad feeling about finding the witch's body again. And the reason so many folks picked the tunnels last choice was because they wanted to feel like Arthur was progressing, rather than backtracking toward the windmill-- which is totally valid! To me, we would be backtracking by returning to the witch's body. If we did so, we are most likely going to run into more unsavory creatures, not to mention Arthur's horrid track record with bodies of water. Ack. I don't know. That choice just fills me with dread. We don't even know if possessing a piece of her body would benefit us at all; it is pure conjecture, from Yorick, no less. Additionally, this is *Kayne’s* dagger; I highly doubt it is capable of being broken by anything. It probably possesses some magical properties. And, honestly, Arthur has rarely used it and I really want to see what it can do on this door.

HakureiRyuu

John + dead bodies is never a good idea. that said I am curious to see what kind of death vision we are almost guaranteed to get from this. not curious enough to vote for the witch but I won't be upset if dagger loses.

Heather Bruce

Guys, please not the witch. Mother Darkness found her dead in a body of water and probably will again. I do not want our three caballeros to run into her. Please!

Nicky

While there are some similarities, I think going for some hag and going for the talisman are different situations, just as going for the hag and going back to the windmill are different. Talisman: some vague item of power that may indirectly help get the black stone Hag bit: specific item for specific purpose (though its necessity is uncertain). if the door(s) are magiced to only open for the hag, having a piece of her may be enough to get them open (does not imply any additional power inherent to the corpse) Going back to the windmill: was already investigated, likely going further from the destination, potential additional injury trying to get out Back to the water: retrieving something that may help get past sticking point(s) from a spot that’s still pretty close by Also, potential water monster fight As for trying the dagger: It does keep them focused solely on moving forward for now. If it breaks, they are down a reliable weapon/tool (only 6 bullets left and no way to get more).

Nicky

That was a river (outside, moving) this is a cave pond (inside, stagnant)

Positive

Y'ALL LET'S MAKE UP OUR MINDS, WE'RE DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO A TIE AND I FEEL LIKE THE DAGGER WILL DEFINITELY BREAK OR THE HAG DEFINITELY RISE FROM THE DEAD IF WE DO

Veneza Shade

The tie means indecision and that’s never a good option, it’s always going to be the worst outcome possible. Remember the lighthouse French guy? Yeah, because of the tie he died and also the light in the lighthouse broke.

Axolotl

NO TIES.

Anusia Battersby

Eh, I'm sure this will be absolutely fine ...

lilithphobik

WE SHOULD LISTEN TO JOHN. arthur just told him he loves him and hes proud of him why wouldnt we listen to him john has been through enough lets dagger and gtfo😭😭

the_algid

The risk of the dagger is too great, and without that dagger we will be defenseless. Also grabbing the Witch's body could be helpful she could have other bits & bobs on here, as well as a way to open more doors like this

Stella

GUYS HE SAID WE DONT KNOW IF WE CAN 100% TRUST YORICK LETS USE THE DAGGER AND LISTEN TO JOHN PLEEEAAASEEE

Rook

Even if the dagger breaks we have another weapon and there are definitely other daggers around medieval England. Probably even ones that AREN'T metaphysically tied to an eldritch asshole that wants to torture us for all eternity.

Argus Maurelius

I'm picking the dagger bc i don't want to hear soggy corpse noises uwu

Charlie

On one hand, i want all the best for John and Arthur. On the other hand, I am curious what happens if there is tie :D

Liz

I think there are a few particularly salient pieces of information that should be considered this week: 1) The witch stating that she control over all magics in her hovel, and that she made this place with her magic and will. 2) The brilliant deduction that Arthur made about the hidden door, and hidden passageway. 3) The fact that Yorick stated that the witch was in her bedroom when Arthur stole the talisman. 4) The fact that Yorick seemed unreasonably fascinated with the statues. Now, we know that Arthur believes that the witch might have used a sort of death curse to lock them into her hovel, and that he thinks that the magic may still be active. I think Arthur most likely is only partially correct. I don't think the witch would have had the ability to cast any kind of intentional death curse, as that would have likely required her to know that she was about to die and prepared a curse to be released upon her death. Now, you could argue that she could have prepared such a curse to be triggered upon her death regardless of whether she saw it coming or not, but I don't think that makes the most sense. I think, if that were true, the curse would likely be more targeted and more intentionally cruel. (Like a curse that turned her murderer into stone, or made their brains boil in their own skull.) Whereas this, this "curse" simply trapped someone. I think the more likely thing that happened here was that the witch saw Arthur steal her most valuable possession, and decided that it would be easy and simple to just, remove all obvious means of escape, so that he couldn't leave with her talisman, and regardless of how quickly Arthur fled, eventually she would kill him and recover what was stolen, without it ever leaving her domain. And then she died, without ever changing any of her home back to the way it would normally be. It is curse, but not one that she anticipated being a death curse. It was anti-theft measure that has now left Arthur trapped. So, now that I have (to my own mind) settled the question of whether or not the maze might still be changing (I don't think it is, I think such a thing required an active effort of will from the witch - that cannot happen when she is dead), we have to consider the nature of the passage that we're trying access. We know that the witch used it as a shortcut to get ahead of Arthur when he was fleeing her, and we also know (at least based on Yorick's assertions) that the witch did not follow Arthur directly into the maze. She instead was in her room and then took a shortcut. So, that implies that there was a similar door into these secret passageways that was accessible either from within her bedroom or the main hovel, or perhaps even near the entrance of the maze. The next question is - then - is it particularly likely that the secret exit into the maze just so happened to be where Arthur decided to run? Or, is it more likely that there are many secret doors in the maze and that this was simply the door that the witch intercepted him at? I'm inclined to think that the latter is more likely. And, if there are many doors, that suggests that we may be entering into a maze within a maze. One that doesn't have the exit sealed, at least not in the same way, but a maze nonetheless. So, having said all of that. Now I can discuss what I think the relative benefits and drawbacks of our two options may be. We've extensively gone over the possibility that the dagger may break in the attempt to open this door. And that may or may not be true, but if I'm correct about the possibility of many doors that may need to be forced open, I don't like the odds of the dagger surviving all of them - or in the event that it breaks here - how we'll manage to open future doors. Furthermore, we've yet to see what's become of the mature bugs (the flesh-eating ones). Based on the opening to 43, they were definitely present in the maze in some manner, enough to see and track Arthur's movements (or to sense his movements). It is possible, although far from guaranteed that they may be in the maze within maze (the passageway we're seeking to open). Although I'm far from certain, it may be possible that having a "pass" from the witch might trick her children into thinking that we are her, and maybe they won't try to eat us. With the combination of the potential bug threat and the probability of encountering more doors that will need to be tried, I think the witch flesh "door pass" seems like a good option, as a means to be able to easily pass through any future doors that Arthur needs to quickly open (either for escape from any dangers inside of the secret passageways, or simply when he determines which secret door is the way out). Additionally, given Fish's quite excellent thoughts about the possibility that Yorick doesn't exactly see things in the most temporarily linear fashion, I wonder if his fascination with the statues actually may be connected to the maze-within-a-maze I'm proposing here, that perhaps the statues correlate not with navigating the maze we are currently in, but as a means to indicate which door the witch is going to access (where she's going to exit into the hallways).

Ellanor Milkowski Dahlgren

We do not trust Yorick! We do not go back for that icky sticky buggy body! The 🗡 will survive and if its not fine then we can go back for the body and try something else. We've survived many an ordeal with no weapons save the wit of our dynamic duo!

Rook

Don't tie. It sucks no matter what. Harlan doesn't like them and he'll make sure we don't either

Kassie

There’s 100% gonna be monsters in the water

lilithphobik

vote dagger ill give you a high five and a well done

Onyx

I trust Yorick, but I think they need to use a piece of the witch to get out. It's her home, after all. Her magic keeps them in.

Queen

we have a gun and probably a bag of other things to look at later- arthur didnt inventory dump

the_algid

The gun is still very limited, only 6 bullets. The dagger is also multi purpose

Onyx

will you tell me that you love me, too? I need the validation.

Rook

If we tie Booth John is gonna be SO mad at us. He just started being chill

Marimo

Reasons to vote Hag: - We dont know if the dagger opening the door will lead us to an exit. It may just be through one (of possibly many) doors. And if the dagger is a one and done thing, how are we going to open future doors and make our way to the exit? - Using a piece of the witch may be equal to going back for a key in a video game that you know unlocks door(s) in front of you. It could make navigating the labyrinth far easier than trying to brute force our way through every obstacle in our path. - An assumption, but having a piece of the witch with us might bring some help against the hag's bug children. What if they recognize her presence with us and leave us alone when we get out of this maze? - If we eventually make our way to the castle, having proof that we killed the hag might be important. Especially given the fact that we're carrying around the Prince's dead head and are wearing his breastplate.... having a piece to show that we killed the hag and weren't just the ones who killed the Prince and stole his stuff miiiight be a good idea. - Having a piece of the hag combined with the talisman might help us more than just the talisman by itself. (Fun reasons to vote hag) John might get a death vision while they're dragging the hag out of the water. Reliving how she died and getting hit with a wave of emotion of how terrible losing Arthur was, but now Arthur is alive, John is changed and has chosen who he wants to be. There is such great potetial for going back to such a heavy scene with Arthur alive and able to comfort John as he relives some of this scenario. Arthur has had to revisit his trauma plenty of times, John hasn't gotten the chance to do so nearly as much. Let Arthur comfort his friend this time instead of the other way around. We could get some canon John whump! >:)

Amanda Nicole

I still remember Booth John after we voted 'Do Not Kill' the Prince, I don't think we want that again

Unorthofox

The vote has ended but: Y’all. Why?! What did you doooooo?! Stagnant icky water in a magic cave with the mother of bugs and rot?!?! Who was raised from the dead AFTER drowning?!?! All y’all be trippin’.
