Let’s toss the ring. On one hand, I love seeing the boys get into deep shit and work their way through it On the other, to be able to (potentially) sneak around for longer could be very useful. They said Langward’s throat was slit from behind — if that’s true, then it is unlikely John will be able to tell who it was, although not impossible. If Langward saw the killer and/or struggled with them, then John would see them. But I don’t think it’s worth the risk. Stay behind for a sec, maybe even get an idea of Evrard’s vibe right now, and hide/drop the ring somewhere.

I vote we keep the ring and try and touch the body. If people have come for answers, we should offer answers. Lord Everard mentioned the gifts and visions of our compatriots - such an ability as ours might not be too unbelievable for this crowd… Plus, if we and Gerard have a ring, we aren’t the only ones. Plus - the friar has either got the ring still on him, or dropped it in his room. That mf SHIFTY

G is possible source of murder clues + Langward and black stone clues. ‘Protecting’ him is a priority imo. Throw ring, missing ring: condemn Gerard, isolate him -> liable to be executed or targeted by murderer(s) Throw ring, no missing ring: lost chance Keep ring, missing ring: shared suspicion between G and A + more info to guide investigation Shared suspicion = killer can’t kill either of the two suspects, bc the one who’s killed has their innocence proven, which the other suspect would not aim for - therefore making it clear killer is not the remaining suspect esp as the two suspects are from the same ‘cult’ and therefore should aim to kill the others before they decide to target each other. This instantly makes rest of group more suspicious than either G or A. Additionally: G gives alibi of being in same cult with L, tries to prove it with his ring. Friar says if L missing ring then G did it, Arthur says - why take the ring? Make himself suspect. Friar says: bc Gerard prepared his alibi of being a part of the cult - that’s why he’d take the risk, since unlike Arthur + Friar and Barnabas + Evrard he has no alibi. Ok, so if Arthur is found to have ring? What’s the point/suspicious part for A to have it? If he killed Langward why take the ring when he has an alibi already? Worst case scenario friar accuses both A and G of working together, but the point is that Arthur has a lot of points to argue and delay his ‘execution’, enough time to find more damning evidence, guided by whatever clues the death vision gives him. If G alone is suspected, then he might be isolated and jailed then killed by murderer for being vulnerable - or the group might decide to execute him. Or evrard reveals some torture chamber slash jail cell and throws him there. We lose whatever info G might have if he’s jailed or killed + lose possible ally. Also - Evrard must’ve known a murder would happen at some point and must’ve accounted for that. Is being a suspect going to be as damning as we imagine it to be? If anything might grab his attention + this is our way of showing him the ring, which Booth John mentioned earlier could’ve been something to hook Evrard with. I think most impo part of this game is 1) win Evrard points 2) survive so you can win Evrard points 3) get black stone. Best case scenario, G becomes a source of information (Black stone +- murder clues) now he’s found someone else who could be a part of his cult -

Maybe G will be more willing to talk about his plans with Langward, and anything Langward told him about the black stone - after all the murder mystery is a current challenge but our main goal is getting the black stone. Other worst case scenario: While G backed up A’s alibi earlier, possibly seeing an ally of sorts in the more receptive A, now G might try to turn on A and paint A as the murderer. He will be hampered by the fact that he, without any outside influence, solidified A’s alibi earlier. His heel turn after finding out A is now being suspected will make him even more suspicious to the more keen eyed Barnabas and Evrard. Who are we trying to gain some ground with? B and E. Friar is clearly looking for anyone to accuse, so can’t be won over in any situation. G is being suspected, and is a cushion for us if we are also in the end suspected. Worst case scenario with keeping ring is being suspected alongside G. Being suspected makes us a little safer from being murdered (but not executed by gang/jailed.) IMO priorities are: not being killed > not being suspected (a losing battle with the things we have in our room) > finding black stone (need to be alive for that.) If we were the only suspect I would say our utmost priority is not being suspected bc chance of being killed or isolated rises dramatically. But since we have G this is a bit less of a concern. Drawback: hurting John :(.

If we get caught touching the body and our death vision is interrupted -> still grabbed Evrard’s attention + resident doctor is dead, A is as qualified as anyone else to examine body/pulse/etc. What does Evrard want anyway? He has brought the gang together bc they’ve seen the ‘cracks’ no one else sees. He is clearly looking for something from the invited people - he ‘sought’ them out, he smiles when G’s cult nature is revealed. He already has the stone, there is something else he is looking for. A acting paranormal weird around a body is not the worst thing to do here. I think this is alluded it in an earlier chapter where booth John says showing E the ring could’ve been a good choice, even though we were trying to pretend to be someone we aren’t and this move could’ve brought unnecessary attention to our farce.

So, I guess we've all decided to eat the ring. 😂 Honestly, I think this is a solid plan because: 1) No one will be able to stumble across the ring later, the way they could if it was hidden somewhere 2) John won’t have to watch someone die Of course, if the dead guy is still wearing his ring, it could be helpful for Arthur to keep his and maybe use it to get Gerard on his side.
