the weird hole is described as looking "unzipped", "pulled apart, literally. as if the wall itself moved," "the torchlight is reflecting off the walls within. they look...wet," "smells earthy, but...off. bitter and damp," "only a vertical, jagged stripe, like that of lightning," "both the top and bottom sew together again, only the center widens," "AS IF DEPICTING A VERTICAL MOUTH WITH JAGGED BROKEN STONE TEETH," so its a mouth and maybe lets not explore inside of what is very likely the mouth of a freaking mimic. vote up. please vote up. can we wait until a little later into the season before we make a reckless decision? pretty please?

As Queen mentionned, this is described as a mouth. Which sounds like something that might bite. I do not want Arthur to get bitten, least of all right now. He's exhausted, far too much has happened in the last few chapter for one human, even by Malevolent standards. I vote up!

With the way they JUST had a conversation about Arthur’s hand and John’s choice to give him control, I feel like the unfortunate implication is that he’s going to “search” by shoving a limb in the mouth.

My biggest worry with not investigating the hole is that IF there is something in there, it's going to come out and surprise us while we're upstairs

Okay so, before I make my decision, I need to word-dump. I think this is the final poll of the episode and I don't think Harlan will keep the boys in this mill for 2 eps in a row, so if we pick now we likely won't be able to come back later - especially since the ladder is flimsy and the upstairs floor apparently unstable. We have no clue what's upstairs, but seeing that we decided that downstairs is more interesting, we might as well stick with downstairs and check out the weird hole - we all know how much Arthur loves falling jnto holes. ON THE OTHER HAND, IN CASE THE BOYS DO GET TO COME BACK TO THE WEIRD HOLE-MOUTH, my RPG instinct tells me to search the entire area for anything useful (even if we already found a plot relevant brooch) especially since the hole seems pretty bitey and I really don't want the boys to lose a limb this early in the season.

I've been re-listening to the very beginning Malevolent. After all the trouble poor Arthur got into with the notion of “just a look” I am very strongly against going into the “hole” in the wall.

My main thing is that the hole hasn't attacked us yet, so it might in a Dormant state. I'd say we go in and investigate. Arthur and John both seem like they won't be comfortable sleeping in the mill until they verify this thing won't come out and attack them.
