Hello All!

HOLY FREAKIN' GLIMMER!!! What a reveal!!! Full chills and major geek out during this one haha - it was just so good! I can't wait to see if Olivia listens to Walter and keeps quiet or if she can't help but tell Peter. I know she's fond of the Bishops but Walter has damaged her childhood and that must be niggling at her too.

Much love

Dakara x

Yesss we're starting my favourite stretch of episodes <3 I might have things to add later tonight once I can actually watch it but Walter's line from the previous episode on Peter needing someone like Olivia to see right through him hits differently now for sure.

So here we finally are, the real game changer episode (along with the next one), this episode alone marks the beginning of a completely new season 2 and show as a whole and boy i’m so ready for you to experience it. God this episode is just on another level, the tension, the stakes, the Polivia scenes!! So so good. Trying to unpack it is not easy and i’ve already written a couple of versions of this comment and then deleted them because i was going off topic so i think i’ll just focus on my two favourite scenes that i feel perfectly encapsulate the episode which are both Peter and Olivia scenes. The first one in Jacksonville where she is sitting in the corner of the room she burned as a child is a perfect sum of their relationship because we see Olivia inside this white circle that acts almost as a barrier and outside it is the black of the burned walls that surrounds her almost like the bad things/feelings in her life that try to harm her and she has erected this wall to keep herself safe and it works but it also keeps the good things away and that’s why the cortexiphan is not working (imo) because of this filter that she has put between herself and the outside world that prevents her from being scared and allows her to do her job as well as she does (like walter said). Then from the door comes Peter and tries to help her to come out of the barrier in some way and back into the light that you can see behind him in the corridor, there are a couple of frames in that scene that just always take my breath away with Olivia so tiny in the corner and Peter that tries to help her but can’t, so so good. The second one is obviously the almost kiss scene and here Olivia is at her lowest because she is failing (in her mind) at the one thing she is supposed to do, protect people, and she goes to the one person that she knows she can talk to in a moment like this and in that moment Olivia manages to get out of her own barrier thanks to Peter who can see that she is at her lowest and tries to reassure her that she is unlike anyone he’s ever met and she doesn’t have to be afraid aaaaaand sbang! Power unlocked right then and there, unfortunately preventing them from kissing :( Ok i think i’ve written enough for now and i’m sure other will contribute even more to the discussion and i can’t wait to read them all. All of that leads to the final beautiful scene where Olivia finally sees Peter glow and her life changes forever and now she also will have to deal with this burden, will she? Or will she tell Peter? P.S. I definitely didn’t forget about Walter in this ep but i will hold my consideration for next ep’s discussion because we’ll have a much fuller view trust me… Also i apologize for any grammatical error but this comment was kind of a stream of thoughts that came out of me very naturally about this episode and not something i had really planned, god i love this show!

omg it's happening! it's HAPPENING, everyone stay calm. STAY FKN CALM! oh hey greyson, cutie. anyway, back to STAYING FKN CALM! lmao you asked for plot and in typical fringe fashion, after several plot-light but character-centric episodes, they smack us in the face with ALL the plot in one episode in addition to more character work lol btw nick's name was on the right side of the measuring stick, under olivia's hand

Have really been enjoying rewatching these with you. Love these characters dearly; and can't wait for you to watch the rest of the season. Good shit.

oh I have been waitiiiiiing for you to get here Dak! The weight, the MIGHT, of this episode! Here we go!! When I first saw Fringe and I saw it was called "Jacksonville" I knew this would be a banger of an episode but I could never have imagined just how much of it is simply iconic nor that it would start the era of 'perfection' that this show can really reach. That scene of Peter and Olivia on the strings is maybe one of the more subtle ones in the ep, and yet it is INGRAINED in my memory. Just like Olivia in the corner finally saying 'no, I'm not okay' to Peter, and later actively leaning on him for support in the office until the almost-kiss. Oh, how far we've come from the earlier episodes of season 1 when Peter would just let her know that she could count on him and her replying only "I know"! Not to mention the tension between Olivia and Walter and the layers added to it with the final scene and the heartbreak on Liv's face at the reveal that Peter is from the other side. I'm also always very fascinated whenever we unlock the potential of Olivia's powers! Oh there would be so much more to add but our eyes will be feasting even more from now on so I'll try and spread my thoughts over the future episodes. Loving your reactions and your final comments as usual, thank youuu!!!

Also now that i got the chance to watch your post episode discussion i have to say i think you did a fantastic analysis of Olivia, Peter and Walter based on what you’ve seen so far, i mentioned this before but your discussion have been a highlight for me in terms of Fringe reactions because i can really see how much you are into this show based on the type and quality of the discussion you do and this episode really is a test for people who watch this show because if you have paid actual attention up to this point (like you have) you can understand everything the characters are feeling and it magnifies the impact of the episode tenfold. We are just at the turning point of season 2 and you’ve probably already become my favourite Fringe reactor which is kind of crazy considering how much of the show is left and i cannot wait to rewatch it with you and discuss about it!!

Oh your analysis of Olivia's triggers is IMO spot on. It's definitely not time but a fear of failure and a fear of crossing certain lines with Peter. She's already been in a relationship with a work partner and we all know how that ended. Can't blame the poor woman for being scared. That almost kiss though is such a gorgeous scene. I'm obsessed with its musical theme. There's just something so haunting and full of longing about it. The only thing I'm not sure is Walter. That scene where he puts his glasses on, clearly a reminder of past Walter... The way he looks at himself as if trying to be that person again before remembering that he was not a good guy and that he shouldn't be proud of who he was then. And tbh I don't think he was consciously risking the truth about Peter because he wanted to save all those lives. For some reason I don't think he was even entertaining the idea that Olivia might discover his secret. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and a part of him actually wanted to get caught. 25 years is a long time to live with something like this on your conscience. I hate that he puts the burden of that knowledge on Olivia. It shouldn't be hers. It's not her secret to keep or to share, it's his. And Anna's acting in this scene just kills me. The way her face falls once the reality of what she's seeing hits her.  BTW in that scene with Polivia on the swings you can see the glyphs (seahorse, hand, butterfly, etc.) outside the entrance to the daycare center.

So, in the excitement of all the revelations, nobody is mentioning the "biggest" one (haha): coffee is very, very rare in the other universe...! And then (around 4 min 20 sec timestamp) Dakara takes a sip, puts the mug down, and says: "It's a bad cup of coffee"!

Sara Croughan

You are 100% correct about her being afraid of letting those walls down with Peter and with all those people dying. She is afraid of being vulnerable and you hit the nail on the head. With that! You get just as giddy about relationship as I do. And it makes me sad seeing her so mad at Walter. But if I were in her position I would be just as angry. He obviously was somewhat of an awful human being before he had those pieces of his brain taken out. And now the vulture we have is a precious genius who you just want to protect. And I love Peter so much and I honestly do not remember what happens in the next few episodes because it's been so long since I've seen this. I just remember frustration when it comes to Peter and Olivia's relationship. Because things keep getting in the way and I know the episodes about to happen where Peter finds out and it's heartbreaking. I just remember Peter being filled with anger and mad at Olivia because he finds out that she didn't tell him. But I could be wrong. I genuinely don't remember so much. I'm only bringing this up now because I know there are no spoilers because you are almost done with the show now. Oh my gosh! I'm so excited to click the next episode but I need to hear the rest of your thoughts on this episode. I just had to leave a comment real quick and now I'm pressing play cuz you're coming back from an appointment to explain more
