So a LOT has happened from ep 6 to ep 7. Chrisjen is leader? Prax and Mei are on Ganymede, the Roci team are famous, Naiomi is working alongside Drummer, The molecule is now a Stargate of epic nightmares, Anna is in search of answers working with Chrisjen while Bobby is back being a Marine doing family calls for Alex AND Holden is seeing MILLER...WHUT?!!! "wait have I?... Am I on the right episode??..." Hell yeah you are. That old story line was played out... So we move on. F it. Why loiter when the main meat of the story is done? I love this show. Because I LOVE the story.. AND Because I Love how they chose to tell the story. Edit: (omg she literally checked to see if she was on the right episode... I'm enjoying myself a little too much aren't I...)

Not watching the intro is for the spoiler reveal of Miller's actor in the credits. You are right, this is a time jump due to it being the beginning of a new book. Everything will get sorted - promise.

The rock song in this episode is "Highway Star", originally recorded by Deep Purple in the 70s, but this version has Belter lyrics written especially for the show. I believe the other song (Belter heartbreak ballad) was an original composition, but meant to sound like "All By Myself" by Eric Carmen, and later covered by Celine Dion. So yeah, we're kicking off a new storyline in this episode, this is adapted from the third novel in the series and will conclude at the end of the season. I think you were just avoiding the credits because it gives away the "special guest appearance" by Thomas Jane as Miller. Fun fact, this is apparently the first mention of Drummer's first name, Camina. P.S. It wasn't a boring reaction, I loved your face when the Belter lad got splattered at the end, hopefully it didn't spoil your lunch!

I love how serious she is concentrating one min... And it's like the show notices... And is like Whoa Whoa whoa... Slap In The Face!!!... No you don't we here to Rock Out and Have Fun!!! (Two whole seconds later) BOOM (STOP... Wait... Silence...)... 😮 (Gasp) Oh oh... (breathing) Breath in breath out... Yea im... I need... Yea the whole air thing... What just happened??? (Silence...) What happened? (Silence...)

First off, the reaction wasn't boring at all, it was great 😄 Like others have already said, the spoiler in the intro was "Special appearance by Thomas Jane" Otherwise the intro is exactly the same as the other S3 intros so far, so you didn't miss anything related to the time skip by not watching it. It's something that could have even gone unnoticed if you don't read the credits during the intro. But for some of us who saw the show as it aired or saw it later but weren't warned, it kind of ruined the end of the episode or at least lessened the surprise. Instead we spent the whole time wondering when we would see Miller again and if it would be in the form of a flashback or something else. You asked if only belters are slingshot racers. While most of them are belters, we know of at least one notable exception: Julie Mao, who took part in the Jupiter 6 run with her ship The Razorback! You were right on the money about this episode feeling like the start of a new season because it's the start of a new book. They did the same thing in season 2, where episode 5 is the end of the first book. This time the feeling of it being a season premiere is even greater, because of the big time skip.

Klaes Ashford is my favourite character on the show, incredibly acted by David Strathairn, there's so much depth and nuance to him. Fantastic in every scene he's in and truly gives it his all.

I'm like you, I'd thought that I missed something. But, no, the show has gone off on a slightly different course. So many things to cover: Errinwright in prison , good, the former UN president resigning, also good. Chrisjen being the new face of the UN alliance, perfect, and Bobbi being reinstated, also perfect. Now comes the new task of trying to understand the protomolecule. Is it alive, is it technology, what is it? I knew the racer at the beginning was going to try threading the needle with the "ring" construct, didn't expect the whole, hitting a barrier at speed, thing that they did. I do not trust this camera/news(?) team aboard the "Roci", they're up to something. Also don't trust the new guy(can't remember his name) that came aboard the new "Behemoth". He's saying the right things, but there's something that he's hiding. He's working for Dawes, I can feel it. Also feel Dawes behind the sabotage that was being done. The woman didn't swallow protomolecule, but a drug that enhanced her abilities, and fueled her aggression. Dying was a consequence that she was likely not informed of.

Soooo many amazing characters in this show. I love Ashford as well. Just so much fun all the way around. (I hate a boring character... And Ashford is anything but).

Ashford is the name... I'm So happy for this new character. I LOVE Drummer. She is amazing. But an amazing character like that needs other strong characters around them or they don't seem that interesting long term imo. Ashford in this episode is constantly "Poking the Bear" so to speak. Over and over and over poking that bear that is Drummer... BUT Importantly NOT "challenging" Drummer... Just poking relentlessly... This makes for very interesting storytelling.

100% agree. The moment I heard her say she wanted to speak belterlingo and chose not to I felt let down a bit. I thought we as a community have been incouriging this type of thing. We just need to try harder I guess. No biggie. Just a chance for improvement. (Hehehehe 😬)

Thanks - that was interesting. Popular music is always tricky in futuristic shows. No one in the 1820s could have imagined what we would be listening to today, and we can't really imagine what people will like 200 years from now. Pretty sure they won't be listening to 1950s pop, as the makers of Star Trek seem to think. I think that The Expanse generally handles it well. Even Alex's fondness for Country & Western makes sense because his part of Mars has its roots in, and probably nostalgia for, Texas. Maybe we'll see Bobbie listening to some Samoan rap.

I was not born when "Classic Rock" was new.... Thank the universe that didn't matter... I LOVE old Classic Rock now today and yesterday and years ago and Tomorrow and all the days... It's just plain and simply "Good Music". There are Very few modern day people keeping it alive. Angelina Jordan is one. She doesn't do it exclusively... And she is young and evolving as time goes by... But Damn.... Did she not elevate this genre into modern times. We can't let this die. Promote it wherever it happens to show up in it's true form.... Like this episode. I love it.

Slightly before my time as well, although I did grow up on my dad's old records from that era. You've probably seen it, but Dazed and Confused has a great classic rock soundtrack.

Thank you. I don't trust him. He's Dawes creature all the way. Dawes wants to control the mission. Forget about poking the bear, he wants to instigate a mutiny so that he can take command. Then Dawes will show up.

Oh I'm not saying your wrong. He definitely wants control. I'm not sure if it's Dawes or Ashford himself that wants the captain spot the most... Or maybe both equally. I do enjoy the jabs back and forth with Drummer though.

Finally got round to watching this and I totally agree it does feel like we could have been watching the wrong episode, some of the new people we saw , the reporters , the guy who is now with drummer and Naomi I could have sworn it was the start of a season but nope 🤷. So happy we got lots of drummer she's my girl 🔥 . Really liked the bobby and Alex scene that was super nice . Likewise I'd forgotten the engineer chic who went crazy on that fellow worker was in the show at this point , but ofc seeing the ring suddenly appear was a surprise to me first time round and equally so this time . Oh and miller yeah 🤔 this show really goes full throttle now buckle up dak 🙂 and go stand in the naughty corner saying your reaction is boring is nothing of the sort , just joking about the corner lol cheers dak and damn show us your inner drummer it would be great 🔥
