Confusion is me, yet again but I'm rolling with it at this point in the game... I felt like I was Holden, doubting my sanity haha. Brill episode as always though! The Ring continues to evolve and blow our minds...hopefully not literally for our Roci crew!

As you might have caught in the editing, given the direct threat to UN ships and lives, and the uncertain relationships between these "nations", the OPA is more or less forced to fire on the Rocinante. Anything less would not be convincing enough. You can see in a scene that Amos immediately understands why the Behemoth target locked them. For Drummer there is no choice but the one she makes. For Naomi her family and heart is on that ship and she would probably do anything to prevent killing them.

Don't worry about any confusion, this sort of advanced tech raises a lot of ethical questions. So much so, that universities offer whole courses on the ethics of advanced technology. Someone is using first rate black ops tactics here. The sabotage and the fake message from Holden were all planned out, the rock hopper gave whoever is behind it all an event that could be incorporated into that plan very nicely. Drummer didn't believe the "fake" transmission any more than Naomi did, but was forced into taking action. If she didn't, the UN and Mars would have seen the Belters as a threat. I'd bet everything I have that Dawes is behind it all. But the machinations of Jules Mao could also be at play, somehow. Chrisjen is stuck on Earth, so is effectively to far away to do much, but I guarantee that as soon as she hears about it, she'll contact Anna to do some digging. Could the protomolecule be trying to communicate?

I'm going to share with you the only concrete things we know about the protomolecule thus far. Things we've already heard it communicate to us directly. Julie on Eros - "Can't stop The Work" Katoa on Io - "Structures inherent to repurposing, disassembly reveals useful pathways" "If can use, use, if can't use, it turns, for The Work, to go across The Up" Miller on the Roci - “It reaches out… 113 times a second. It reaches out but nothing answers, so it builds the Investigator, and the Investigator looks but he does not find, so it kills the Investigator. It kills the Investigator over and over. And then it builds the Investigator again, and again, until… it finds a door that wasn’t there before.” Think on this, and when these different statements were made.

Now it's time for my comment of the day and today, I've chosen the lovely Dakara. Dakara says(in her 3x8 discussion), "You know when you're a kid, and you're going on an adventure and you're all excited, cos it's all new experiences and you don't know what's ahead. It's more that feeling than anything else. Yeah, I am confused and overwhelmed, but because the possibilities are kinda endless, it's that excitement that's taking over more so than any other fears..." That's my favourite part of the reaction tbh. Makes me so happy. The realisation that these reactions will one day end also kinda makes me sad. But we have so much more to go. The show has so much more to give. Let's go bossmang! P.S. Loved the shoutout to our girls Chrisjen and Bobbie.

I'm not sure if you noticed, but near the end there, right before Miller appeared in the airlock, they showed us the protomolecule on the Roci (that they missed while repairing the damage from the fight with the hybrid). When I first saw this I must admit I had completely forgotten it was there, and had an OMFG moment 🤭

Confusion indeed , I always have trust in drummer she's top bean 🙂 the music in this one was off the chain just ramping up the tenseness but so good 🙌 doors and corners 🙂

I really enjoyed this reaction. Your confusion is what everyone feels in this episode, but things will become clear. I had forgotten how sinister Miller looks in that final vision of him - like Miller but not quite like him. You can't tell at this stage whether he is helping Holden or not.

As lore keeper, we found out that the show was saved (by J B of Amazon of all people!!) when this episode aired. It was one of the happiest days of my life, if I don't mind saying so!) It was announced at a space conference by the man himself at which several Expanse actors were in attendance being the show is the most realistic depiction of what space living may actually be like in a few hundred years! The joy just exploded through the room and it was all caught on video!! They were moments away from taking down the sets in Toronto and a few people had bailed but the main acting core remained intact and we got 3 more seasons!!!
