In THIS timeline, Walternate had his closure long time ago - so his number one priority is saving his world. Yes, he hates our Walter, but has NOT grown into a very bitter man who is consumed with revenge... In the original timeline, Peter survived but Walter did not take him back - he enjoyed having a son while Waternate couldn't...

DB

Wait, but wasn't our Peter supposed to live, though? Wasn't that the whole point? Walternate found a cure but September made a mistake by interrupting, and that's why he had to save them in the first place? Either in this timeline the redverse invested into rejuvenation techniques or this Elizabeth had a drastically different skincare routine because for sure she did not age lol ETA: And because apparently I have way too much time on my hands, I've checked their age and Orla Brady is 17 years older than Josh Jackson while John Noble is 30 years older than him. So I guess it is a typical TV casting when it comes to parental roles but it could be worse lol

I know this reaction series isn't doing too well on on Youtube, but I'm very glad you're enjoying it, because it really is a wonderful journey that never fails to touch our hearts. Some plot lines do get dropped like a hot potato, but even so in the end it will feel complete. And yes, do please leave that episode 19 for the end of the season as the other commenter suggested. They were wrong to put it there in the sequence, and it is also not corrected on the Blu-ray boxset I have. The only other series I've bothered buying collections of is Midsomer Murders. Two things make them better than most detective series is that they bother introducing us to a lot of side-characters who aren't the killers, because they're 90 minutes an episode. Shorter 45-minute series don't have that luxury. The second thing is we see all the clues that tie it together, same as the lead detective. In other detective shows they hide that until the big exposition at the end.

The reason the observer saved them wasn’t because Peter is supposed to live, just live long enough to interact with the machine to close the paradox or whatever that was created when the observer interfered with the cure , that’s just what I got from it

David Herron

In essence he saved Peter to use the machine to heal the damage caused by the observer interfering and Walter crossing over which started the breakdown “over there” hence all the ambered areas. Once he (Peter) fulfilled his destiny “maybe altered destiny?” They were supposed to remove him from the timeline since he never existed in “our” timeline to begin with and was only there due to Septembers error

David Herron

Ok so like you need to watch the next soon :) this and the next was more of a two parter

Elsa Millie

That Peter dream must be of "half naked Wednesday" because Walter's at least, blessedly, rockin some pants 😂

DB

Oh interesting! I like your theory but there's one thing that I still don't get. If the Observers experience time in nonlinear manner, why wouldn't September simply orchestrate something to prevent himself from interrupting Walternate. Wouldn't it be easier to delay himself by a few seconds thus eliminating the problem instead of creating the problem in the first place alongside its solution? If he doesn't interrupt, Walternate finds the cure and there's no need for Walter to accidentally break the universes in the first place, or creating the machine to be used by Peter to fix it.

It's funny how you picked up on the Lincoln stand-in but not the fact that the actress who plays Elizabeth wasn't aged up at all in make up 🤣 I want to know what her skincare routine is! Fauxlivia's wig is definitely more red now. It looked brown to me in the past. Just a couple of differences mentioned in the redverse this episode: - There were The Amber Riots of '06. - They have American Topographic magazine instead of National Geographic.

Mirko Paskota

(sarcasm on) It would appear that over there they have much better skin/anti-ageing products; maybe Bell and Walter should have stolen some of that, not only technology - they could have made even more money...(sarcasm off) There were 3 red wigs for Anna; I never found out how/why they chose a particular one for a scene or an episode...

Man this episode does not let you breath! It’s one thing after another and the bam! The last two scenes changed the stakes of the season completely. I know i’ve already remarked on this multiple times already so i’m probably starting to get annoying at this point but i just love the interconnectedness of the two universes so much, the fact that we can easily go between the two and have storylines that truly crossover is just amazing and i can’t get enough of it and this episode showcased it perfectly. I wanna start with the two highlights of the episode for me (well 3 if you count the Jones reveal but we’ll talk a lot more about that next week) Walternate and Elizabeth, starting with the latter i just can’t stress enough how much of an impact she has on this series with so few scenes, her scenes with Peter are always just so heart breaking and hearth warming in equal parts, such a joy (and sadness) every single time she is on screen. Walternate is the real twist though, because just like Peter you think you know him, you are waiting for the moment where he is going to reveal that he was behind it all and it’s all part of his evil plan and then…. he surprises you, and Peter, it’s clear already that this is a much different version of Walternate, still stoic and very serious but he doesn’t feel angry or vengeful like the did in the og timeline, he is much more balanced and it probably has a lot to do with the fact that he found out pretty early that his Peter died that night so he hasn’t been search for him for decades and slowly building up that resentment, he seems to genuinely want the best for his world, there will be more to talk about with him because he is so interesting. Also i cannot stress enough how much i love Peter in this new (begrudgingly) role of ambassador between the two universes, it feels like such a perfect evolution of his storyline in season 3 where he was forced to choose between the two but ended up saving both and now he is the only one that can help them forward. Jones is back! Another amazing thing with this season/timeline is the ability to bring back characters whose story we never got to finish in the og and Jones for sure is one of them, he always felt like he was meant for more in the show and now he seems to be heavily involved with this new shapeshifters which also explains why in the og timeline they didn’t exist, because Jones died before crossing over (which Peter jokes about in this ep). Now onto September (which i guess still hasn’t been revealed to be his name in the show but we’rolling with it at this point 😂), firstly how in the hell did he get shot? The only time we saw an observer get shot before was when August purposely let himself die so he could save that girl from the other observers, apart from that they have seems pretty much untouchable, maybe another observer did it? In terms of what he tells Olivia i really won’t say anything because it’s one of the main plots of the season, but stay tuned because this is definitely not the last time we see him! The stuff with the two Lincolns was hilarious and i also appreciated the moment when Lincoln said to Fauxlivia that Peter trusts her and that at her core she is a good person, i love when they use Peter’s knowledge of the og timeline to explore the current character more. Can’t wait for next week, it’s getting juicier and juicier. P.S. Yeah like other have mentioned it’s pretty hilarious that Elizabeth looks like she hasn’t aged a day in this timeline especially when you remember that heavy make up they had her in the season 2 finale where she looked almost too old for her age 😂😂. Anyway in next week’s episode she is part of one of my top 5 favourite scenes in all of Fringe so i’m really looking forward to your reaction to it!!

David Herron

Because it wouldn’t change that time line only start a new one , that same timeline had already occurred , so it just is. There might be a universe where Walter wasn’t interrupted , but in this timeline he was . My confusion is that why would the events be similar in this timeline , Peter was allowed to die twice. I can only guess that Peter being in the picture for the machine was all generated by the observers for the purpose of removing Peter from the timeline, it’s the only thing that could explain how they were able to operate the machine without Peter, they said it would only accept a subset of 1 , which was Peter… but how did they use it without him? Meh probably Walter and his genious figured out how..

Neumann

i think they DID reveal the observers' names in august's episode iirc. i'm pretty sure they addressed each other by name or their subtitles had their names? idk but we wouldn't know july's name was july without being told, that's too specific and random lol. december can be figured out once you know the month scheme, but july? i don't think he even shows up again, or at least he hasn't lol

Neumann

i love how olivia's immediately on board once peter realizes lincoln could sneak him over, she just like "oh we sneakin" and throws away all the concerns she had 2 seconds ago lmao so many positive changes in people's personalities with this new bridged reality but BROYLES had to be corrupt?! heartbreaking this episode had so many fun things: lincoln's adventures in the redverse and meeting himself, meeting elizabeth again and that whole scene, walternate actually being a decent person, fauxlivia actually giving props to olivia, olivia somehow not knowing she could travel across universes (which begs the question how the hell did she go over there in the first place in order to be replaced by fauxlivia?), david robert jones return, and finally september showing up to do what he does best: reap confusion, and panic with a deadpan voice and sad eyes lol. just SO MUCH and somehow this episode comes across as quietly awesome to me for some reason

DB

But that means that the point of Peter's existence was always to die (as a child either from sickness or from drowning). And granted one can argue it's the point of all of our existence but I just don't think Fringe is that nihilistic in its message lol We're also presuming multiple universes (beyond these 2) and parallel timelines but so far my impression from the Observers popping back in is that it's just one timeline within 2 universes that they've twisted around. Because like you mentioned things align with "our" timeline a bit too much. How would they operate the machine without Peter? How did Walternate figure out what happened to Peter and the existence of the blueverse? Olivia didn't know she could cross over meaning she was never pushed to do that by Walter. He didn't need to find a way back because Peter drowned.

christian chirico

I would have to back and check to be sure but i sort of remember them only saying August’s name out loud in that episode, i think it was mainly the subtitles that revealed the other names, it doesn’t really matter in the end because the names themselves are not a spoiler or anything that relevant and the characters in the show still don’t know them (outside maybe Walter) so the reveal will still work when it comes later on 😊.

Neumann

yeah, not spoilery and frankly, i'm just happy we all managed to withhold september's name until it was at least plausible we had already learned it at some point lol

PaulReacts

I know I am late. But Olivia did say that Fauxlivia kidnapped her and stole her life. So basically in this timeline Fauxlivia crossed over and looked for the part of the machine missing on their side - so I am assuming she held her somewhere in our world while she looked for it.
