Hello All!

It's getting wild on Ilus, we have an eye infection that's gonna make people blind in 24hours! A shortage of supplies for the amount of people, a war/divide still very much present and now we've added killer slugs into the mix - fabulous! Hahaha...sobs

Much love

Dakara x

Just when you think there's no way there can be more... Yep there's more. This show is really getting good now. I love seeing you get creeped out by the slimy things. Have a great week. Thanks.

I like to imagine the writing room for S4 went something like "Ok, so new alien planet, we need to raise the stakes." "Well, we got these flying protomolecule razors" "I said raise the stakes" "Holden accidentally turns on a piece of protomolecule tech that's going to wipe out the settlement?" "I said. Raise. The. Stakes." "It also creates a nuclear explosion on the other side of the planet!" "Try harder" "Ok, so it creates a supersonic blast and a tidal wave, so they all take cover in the structures." "RAISE. THE. STAKES" "and everyone goes blind?" "MOAR" "And it's raining instant death slugs, the moon is melting, fusion doesn't work, and our ships are falling out of the sky into a death fire wall?" "........Perfect"

But the planet has a lot of lithium so we got that going for us at least

That shot of Holden turning on the UV and the whole ceiling is slugtrails might be the most unsettling scene in the show. Going blind while instant-death slugs fall from the sky is pretty close what I imagine hell is like.

Chrisjen is in a tough spot. She wants to do something that will be seen as heroic so she can use it in the election. But the other shoe is dropping, and she's seeing , first hand, that there is no good solution that will give her that "Hero" moment. Not without loss. The marines may have walked into a trap. Marcos get's his "Hero" moment, Gao gets a weapon against Chrisjen, and poor Chrisjen is left holding the bag! Thus it goes with high stakes politics. Back on the planet, things are not looking so good. The plan to get the belter ship into a higher orbit sounds like a good one, use the Roci to tow it. It would be great if the other ship could help, but they might not have time to match up the orbits, plus the tow cable wouldn't be long enough for both of them. The slug might be the key to saving the people. I know it sounds crazy, but the "killer" slugs just might be the key to wiping out the other infection. BTW, I think your hair looks great.

I had drawn parallels to Clarissa earlier on in the season, but I think in terms of things directly pertaining to Naomi and Lucia there is a distinct separation to be had. The difference here is super important to make in my opinion. Lucia maintains that she didn't intend for anyone to get hurt. But logically, that can't be true. Lucia was actively running with OPA thugs and killers who she knew wouldn't give two thoughts about committing murder. She placed the detonation charges on the landing pad. Now even if the plan had been to destroy the landing pad before the Edward Israel got there, imagine an airplane coming in at full tilt, with the runway suddenly removed and it's landing gear disabled. What did she think was going to happen? Her husband said it the best I think. Where he chastised Lucia for talking about someone having to be strong, and bringing the killing to someplace new, associating with Coop and his bunch of OPA goons. Technically and literally too, all said and done, in order to "give them a chance" she was the one who pressed the detonator and directly killed the 23. I'm not sure I can wrap my head around that one. She definitely needs to stand trial for what's she's done. Lucia knows this. Naomi, on the other hand, was in the throngs of idealism and youth. She was in love, running with a group she thought were straight out of Robin Hood. Marco used her code, without her knowledge to blow that ship up. Naomi hadn't even considered the possibility of putting anyone in mortal danger could even be a thing.

"God I wanna watch the next one." Top notch tease. The audacity, Dak!

Alright, let's run the math on the Belters and Murtry this season. Belters: -Ran a blockade -got several ships destroyed -as soon as they get on the planet they immediately begin issuing threats -RCE sends a ship on a peaceful scientific mission, Belters attempt no communication -They blow up their own landing pad to kill 23 people and destroy the heavy shuttle -Roci team shows up, belters start hurling insults, threats, rocks, and eventually pull their fire arms -They defend and protect known terrorists while playing victim -They plan further acts of terrorism -They kidnap two people and hold them hostage while saying "anyone is free to leave" -Even after all of this, the lightning, the machinery almost wiping the settlement out, the razor bugs, and the ultra massive explosion, the belters still only care about their ore -Lucia on the prospect of losing her family or the ore, tells her husband that he has to fight to save the ore, then when faced with the possibility of her daughter falling out of the sky and burning up in the atmosphere, her first thought is about saving the ore, not about saving her daughter. Murtry: -Has 23 of his friends killed before they even land -Survives the crash only to be threatened with further violence -Acts on said threats and eliminates them -Makes his intentions crystal clear from the start, never lied to anyone, or hurt anyone that was undeserving. I was 100% on Murtry's side until he decided to try and take Holden out. In my opinion Lucia is the second worst person on this show, behind a certain someone. Lucia was willing to knowingly sacrifice her own daughter for her ideals. Terrible, terrible, terrible human. And that's not even counting the fact that she murdered 23 innocent people for no reason. To top it all off, instead of facing the consequences of her actions, she chose the cowards way out. The only reason she isn't dead is because Alex and Naomi have giant hearts. Though, to be clear, I'm not a fan of anyones behavior on Ilus except for Amos and Alex. But if I had to pick a side that was more right than the other, Murtry is definitely more right than the Belters, even with his greedy reasoning for wanting them off the planet. On the point of greed, lets not forget the Belters are being greedy too.
